Orz Escape is my first Melbourne based escape room, so I can't compare with what else is on offer here, but I will compare it to experiences overseas.
My group of 5 took part in the Safari room, we were blindfolded as we entered, and given some basic instructions. The game time is 45 minutes in duration, which is a little shorter than rooms I've tried elsewhere, and as a result the puzzles are a little more simple in places, with only a few difficult ones in between.
The overall up is pretty cool, but lack some real attention to detail I've seen in rooms overseas. The low light conditions are difficult, but I guess that's part of the atmosphere. I did like that each room opened up into another space, with several rooms making up the whole escape.
The only part which disappointed me, was the room had not been put back together properly after the previous group, so some locks were open - meaning we didn't get to solve anything and perhaps missing out on some steps, and one of the clocks was not counting down the time, so we thought we had 13 minutes when in fact we only had a couple of minutes left, which lead to our failing while we had been discussing our methods - because we thought we had time up our sleeve.
I'm sure this, and other escape rooms will mature over time, as it is still a relatively new idea to Melbourne. read more
