Nice selection of beers and ciders.

I've been to this cafe and market years ago and was pleased that it has kept up its good quality and service. If you're a plant based person and are looking for a good place to shop for some plant based goods this is your place. I was happy with their selection of plant based products. They had cheeses, milks, pickled goods, olive bar, fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, and snacks! The vibe of the place was very nice too. Both times we stopped in other patrons were very friendly and courteous. As for the service both time the person who checked us out was very friendly and the one even had a good sense of humor. So this place is definitely another Traverse City stop for the person on a planet based diet or not.

The food is kinda pricey but you get exactly what you pay for. The food is fresh and healthy and the iced coffee I got was definitely in my top tiers of coffee I've ever had. Good stuff!

I'm not sure why Yelp doesn't have the cafe and grocery store separate, but I've got so little time on my hands to fix this. I used to have all this time to surf the net at work, and those times have passed. I'm not going to lie, I miss those days... I digress. I do enjoy this place a LOT. The food at the cafe is good, but not great. The chips they serve with the sandwiches are boring. At least some kettle chips would be fun. These are some kind of corn chips that make me yawn just thinking about them. However, the sandwiches are tasty - especially the turkey with kim chee. Yum (and spicy - woo hoo). Additionally, OF COURSE there are vegetarian options. The grocery items are also good. The upsetting thing is that they couldn't carry my favorite yogurt (Siggi's whole milk plain)... because apparently it doesn't sell well enough. Oh people... plain whole milk is where it's at!!! How can you not be on board with that? :) Anyway, they were still at least good about communicating that rejection of my request. The prices here are a bit steep... but the selection is pretty good. I find, however, that I do need to go to two grocery stores when I shop here to get all the things I need (and that's really not a ton, e.g., the yogurt - which I have to go to Eden's to buy). Honestly, I'd probably go to Eden's for all my shopping, but they don't have goat cheese. And this girl just can not LIVE without goat cheese... enter Oryana. All said, this is a solid choice for your TC grocery needs. I cannot see my life proceeding without this place, so please go there. Buy stuff. Join the co-op. Enjoy, as I know you will. Please and thank you.

Ordered ahead. Cafe is inside the co-op and is a grocery/deli. The Bread was delicious. I would go back. Great for quick take out.

If you're hungry and broke, for $5 you can get a big bowl of rice and beans. Add a fruit for vitamin C, and you have a complete meal.

A great COOP with a pet store section, a Cafe, a household section, and a bulk food section. Some things are less than Amazon, for example Benebone products. A great resource for the community.

Organic - check! Bland - check! Pricey - check! This tree-hugging cafe is located within Oryana Natural Foods Market, and offers hungry diners a healthy alternative to fast food with a hot food bar, soup station, and sandwich station. For someone who loves bold flavors, i was completely underwhelmed. Don't get me wrong, the food wasn't terrible but it wasn't anything that would make me want to come back to Lake Street Cafe...def a solid 3 star rating. Lentil Soup - A nice hearty soup, but it was missing all the wonderful Middle-Eastern spices that truly makes for a delicious lentil soup! Cherry BBQ Chicken Sandwich (local baked chicken, cherry BBQ sauce, red onion, mozzarella, and lettuce on focaccia bread) - Just okay! Green Goodness Smoothie (Apple, cucumber, celery, kale and parsley) - Definitely the highlight of my meal! Overall, the food was 'A-Ok' and there's a nice open dining area with both indoor & outdoor seating available.

Food cooperatives are consumers' cooperatives where the decisions regarding the production and distribution of its food is chosen by its members. Food cooperatives typically offer natural foods. Since decisions about how to run a cooperative are not made by outside shareholders, cooperatives often exhibit a higher degree of social responsibility than their corporate analogues. You get what you pay for. I will shop and eat at co-op in every city at every chance I get. I am rarely disappointed because the food is healthy and fresh. The Lake Street Cafe at Oryana does not disappoint. They offer such a vast array of sandwiches, soups, baked goods, cold items and specialty foods, it's heaven. My favorite three items would have to be the Thai Peanut Tofu Wrap (rich and creamy homemade tofu, it's more like a block of cream cheese, not lying) the Whomper veggie burger, and the grilled veggie panini. The panini features an amazing combo of sweet potato, red onion, avocado and tomato. Drool. Shoot, I also love the fresh rolls from the cooler section. When in Traverse, I could eat here for three meals a day and usually do. I should also mention....lemonade! Chai teas! Smoothies and juices! The staff is extremely nice, recycling and compost is available, clean restrooms and a lovely outdoor seating area. I'm in love with this co-op cafe.

We were so lucky to find this gem for lunch before dropping family at Traverse City airport. I am super jealous of this fabulous neighborhood grocery store and co-op. Beautiful building and design, great food choices. Lots of vegan options everywhere. We walked around the store before ordering fan amazing vegan lunch at the cafe. Prepared to perfection. Loved the soy latte too. Outdoor seating area. Definitely a repeat stop for us in Traverse City!

Eat local and organic. A great co-op and food market. If you are looking for a quick lunch, their Lake Street Kitchen and Cafe makes made-to-order sandwiches and drinks. Their homemade soups are amazing and their homemade tofu is fresh and the best that I have ever eaten, EVER!

Tastebud perfection from first dish to dessert. Each dish was creative, perfectly balanced, with wonderful textural components. The asparagus was the best asparagus I've ever eaten. The smashed potatoes delightful. The halibut with mousse was perfection. And that galette was amazing. But the dessert? OMG. The strawberry cheesecake with lemon curd and cucumber sauce was wowzers. Spring in dessert form. Thanks to the wonderful chefs and server Amanda for a delightful anniversary dinner. We hope to be back next time we travel to Traverse City.

There was a balance of crunch and softness to each dish. I don't agree with some of the reviews here of this place being "yuppy" or "trying too hard" (says a self proclaimed foodie from Chicago). Highlights: -carrots - the curry and fresno were so tasty together with the sweetness of the carrots -steak - cooked perfectly and the sauce work was INCREDIBLE. I will be dreaming of the sauce work and the crispy maitake -glass of cheverny - so refreshing Great service at first - the timing of the starters were precise, but we waited a fair amount of time to get the entree and then dessert. Prices were quite reasonable, and I'd definitely come back! The restaurant is cozy and it gets pretty busy around 7. This place was exactly what I was craving all week. Definitely check them out!
