Orvis is an interesting store in a somewhat difficult location. It's in the same building as Trader Joe's, so it can be tricky to get a parking space at times. One of the things I really like about the store is it's dog friendly! I took my pup in with me to check out some of the dog travel crates, and it was nice being able to take him with me to check his size against what they have on display. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I'll definitely be back! read more

When in to check out the Orvis Recon rods and ended up picking up a 9 ft, 5 wt. Patrick was professional and offered expert advice on everything from nymph strategies to rod care. Thank you Patrick for the counsel and Orvis for an excellent rod. read more

Aug 2019, great store with a large selection of women clothing, very clean and neat. The customer sales rep Jennifer who help us was fantastic. She went out of her way to help me find my size, and she made my shopping experience pleasant. All and all, that store has great customer service. read more

I visited the newly remodeled Darien store for some trout fishing advice and some help installing a fly line on a new reel. Patrick handled the installation with quick professionalism and offered a number of useful tips regarding fishing the nearby streams as well as an interesting account of his landing a tiger trout, a rare hybrid of a brown and a brook trout. Patrick knows his stuff! Perhaps when he reads this he will favor us by posting the photo he took of the tiger. read more

Bought a great winter coat at the Darien store five years ago. My dry cleaner tore off the zipper on the lining and claimed he could do nothing to fix it. Took it into Orvis to see if maybe they did repairs. Sales woman said they did not but they did have a tailor they used. She offered to send it to them but the result was the same - could not fix it. The sales woman emailed me and offered to refund my money in full on a coat purchased five years ago! I could not believe the offer and said I'd accept store credit. Couldn't imagine not buying another winter coat anywhere else but Orvis this fall. Amazing customer service. read more

My 13 year old son and I signed up for the Fly Fishing 101 course in Orvis Darien this past Saturday. Didn't know what to expect, but hey, it's free! Turned out to be really great. Shawn and Walker do a tremendous job, keeping it fun with a bit of humor but really teaching a great deal in 2 hours. We enjoyed it so much, we immediately signed up for 201 for Sunday. Went out and caught a couple of fish with some of our classmates, led by Shawn. Had a great time and I feel like we can do this on our own now, at least at a basic level. read more

These guys are so helpful and will spend significant time with you to explain anything about fly fishing. Don't go it alone...go to Orvis.

The clothing selection is fill with dated trends, and not in a charming, vintage way--just the same…read moretired styles year after year. Or they OVER buy on a trend from the 2000's....There's no variety. There's nothing that makes this place worth a visit. Most of the staff is just as uninspiring. They offer a halfhearted greeting when you walk in, but beyond that, they're completely disengaged--mostly standing around with their arms crossed, looking like they'd rather be anywhere else. Which makes sense because they barely make minimum wage, which is concerning considering how much the owner walks away with year after year. I probably wouldn't be inspired to help customers either. It's pretty obvious that the owner of this store couldn't care less about their employees--or their customers, for that matter. Unless you're looking for outdated clothes and indifferent service, I'd recommend shopping elsewhere. Go shop at the family owned business Richard's in Greenwich much better selection, happy employees and OWNERS!

Every year Santa comes and kids line up from across the country to sit on his lap and tell them what they want. In Darien, that could be a new Canada goose jacket (available at DSS) or a new pair of Nordic skis (available at DSS). Maybe even a new Range Rover (not available but DSS can order it). And for the adults who brave the intense December line to catch a glimpse of the big guy, they setup a makeshift bar (no charge of course) with Bloody Mary's, Mimosas, Beer, Wine, all the fixings. Back to Santa, did I mention this guy is the real deal? He claims that he runs a bird seed shop in the off season, lol. Yea Kringle, I ain't buying it. Tell those elves at the North Pole that the socks you brought me in '94 were bull$#&!. Jk I'm a good boy I take it back.

First, she was very rude to the customer right before me. She spoke to him like poop under her shoe and dismissed him to customer service because he was in the wrong line. I'd be safe to say there could be small children trapped beneath the rummage of clothing piled high. I noticed this happening at this location for some time but nothing ever improves and it has come to look like a scene out of Hoarders. So bad.
