Cesar and his team were incredible to work with. They were everything that you probably wouldn't typically expect from a contractor. They had accurate and honest estimates, held to them, were proactive when new items came up. He was reliable, went above and beyond and even finished the work before we had estimated it would be done. He was great at troubleshooting on the spot and very communicative. And, most importantly, he (and his team) did great work - the quality was really impressive even with limited direction. He left the place clean and well organized everyday and and the end of the project. He also worked very well with our structural engineer and architect. It felt like he could have done everything without them. He will be our go to for any future work we need and I can't recommend him enough! read more

Working with Cesar was such a pleasure! We've honestly had bad experiences with contractors in the past so I went in nervous but he was utterly competent and professional on every level. His references were glowing! He proved again and again he didn't need my supervision and had everything 100% under control so I could relax and focus on my own work. He responded to email and texts in a timely manner, and was always happy to explain what was going on or be flexible when I had requests. I also really appreciated his directness when he needed something to make the work or inspections go smoothly: he didn't need much from me, but when he did it was very clear. On top of all that, his bid was the second lowest I received for the project! Great work, great communication, and a fair price too. Thanks Cesar, looking forward to working together again soon. read more

I'd highly recommend Cesar and his team. I met with 8+ contractors to diagnose water damage that was occuring in my home and in the broader building. Cesar's inspection was thorough, and he was confident in his solution, clearly explaining steps he'd take along the way. The project went smoothly, with Cesar showing up on time and giving me proactive updates throughout. He's knowledgeable, has a strong detail orientation and stands by his work. Cesar left my home just as neatly as he found it, and I feel assured in the repairs. I hope to work with Ortizlaw on future (and more fun) home improvements! read more

I can't emphasize how great it was working with Cesar. I have gone through three home remodels and full build-outs of two small businesses, and Cesar has been the easiest and most skilled contractor to date. I own a high-end medical clinic in San Francisco. The build-out depends on meticulous attention to detail. Venetian plastered walls, exposed wooden ceilings, marble reception desk etc. The level of craftsmanship that Cesar's team executed went above and beyond. When picking a contractor, I received three quotes and Cesar fell right in between. Please don't make the mistake of choosing a contractor solely on who quotes you the lowest number. Look at the quotes. Get detailed explanations and you'll find that you are rarely comparing apples to apples. Bottom line: this is a guy you can trust. His work is excellent. Highly recommend and I will absolutely be reaching out to him for future projects. read more

Cesar is incredibly knowledgeable and a seasoned contractor with all manner of home improvement and remodeling experience. After seeing the incredible work that he and his team did remodeling my neighbors' bathroom I decided to engage Ortizlaw Construction to do my bathroom renovation. Cesar was extremely patient, reliable, and responsive, and a great help to me in recommending resources for all the components required to achieve my vision for the upgraded bathroom. He is very detail oriented, explaining all the ins and outs of the project, honest and reasonably priced. He completed the project on time and did a great job! I plan to engage his services again for future home improvement and repair projects. read more

Cesar of Ortizlaw Construction did an exceptional job replacing all of our façade windows and rebuilt our stucco façade. We had several leaking windows. Cesar replaced them and our building stayed dry during this recent rainy season. Cesar is very thorough and concientious and he explains everything he is doing. It is too bad we did not find Ortizlaw Construction sooner. The front of our building is BEAUTIFUL! read more

Cesar and his crew are reliable and do great work!

I have done numerous remodeling projects on our house over the thirty years we have owned it. Cesar at Ortizlaw can only be described as exceptional. He possesses all these qualities that some contractors claim to have. He is an unbelievable craftsman, he has the highest level of respect for his clients, he is scrupulously honest and trustworthy. He is extremely knowledgeable about being a contractor and he even goes beyond his attention to all details; he has exceptional architectural vision. He made suggestions and performed work that completely changed a bathroom remodel my wife and I had a concept for, but Cesar knew exactly how to do this job so that we increased our size by almost double in a small 5x7 bathroom. The most noteworthy comment we can make of Cesar is his high level of trustworthiness. He listens, he contributes and this ends up in flawless work. We have already asked him to bid all the other jobs we have to continue our maintenance of our Park-Side house. There is only one Cesar so if you truly want to have a new experience with a contractor and achieve outstanding results, Cesar is your man. read more

When we purchased our home we learned pretty quickly that there was water damage on the back wall of our house. Cesar met with us to look at the damage, and was able to locate the problem and help us plan repairs and got right to work. He does high quality construction, to code, using supplies that are well constructed and built to last. Cesar is hard working, professional, and really wonderful to work with. We appreciated his honesty, his commitment to follow through and check in on us to be sure everything was solid when the job was complete. He stands behind his work, and his experience working in a variety of structures is evident. We plan to hire him again to help us remodel our kitchen and highly recommend him to anyone needing construction. read more

Cesar finished our kitchen remodel in early 2018. The work included removing part of a structural wall. We were very happy his work and would hire Cesar again. The project was completed in the timeframe he gave us at the beginning. Everything, especially the tile work, was very high quality. He worked well with our designer and came up with good solutions to design issues she hadn't identified. I especially appreciated that he was so meticulous about having the house cleaned up every day during some seriously messy parts of the project. A year later, everything still looks great. Thanks, Cesar! read more

Cesar is a very good and competent general contractor. We hired him initially to repair a water intrusion issue at the facade of our condo building. We soon discovered, that the issue was so much bigger than we anticipated. Fast forward 1 1/2 years later, after working with structural engineers, inspections and more, our building is repaired. Cesar was patient and flexible through out the whole process and never bailed on the project. He handled every curve ball thrown at him cooly and professionally. As an HOA board member, I felt comfortable dealing with Cesar and was confident that he would complete the work properly. read more

Cesar and crew were hired by clients of mine to help prepare their home for market. We had a long list of thing to tackle from deck repair to siding replacement to demolition to painting...all on a short timeline. Cesar was so organized and responsive that the job was finished on time even with rainy weather. I never had to worry that he'd be unreachable or that our requests would be ignored. He was on site every day and clearly takes great pride in his work - we are all so happy with the results. A++ read more

Cesar is absolutely amazing to work with! We worked with him on the first phase of a remodel and will be working on the next phase with him. We are doing this remodel from out of state so relied on a personal referral as well as previous Yelp reviews. Cesar gave us fair estimates on all the work. He gave us a time estimate which he stuck to. His communication and responsiveness is outstanding. He also patiently explained things to us as we went through the process and even sent photos of work in process. He had creative ideas that he presented to us, and followed up on even the small details that many contractors leave behind. I would definitely recommend Cesar at Ortizlaw Construction. He is honest, reliable, professional and skilled. He has a good set of subcontractors to do the specialty work, but he does a lot of it himself. Thank you, Cesar! read more

Cesar has done terrific work for us in three, nearly four, important home renovation projects in the past 6 months!! He delivers what he promises, and more! Also, he is a great communicator...we always know where he is and what the status of each project is! We cannot wait to have him help us with some key renovation projects on our old Victorian in the near future. He is a rare find...and I'm scared to share since then he will not be as available for our work!! read more

Cesar and his crew did a wonderful job renovating our bathroom in the Marina District. Every step of the way, he was a pleasure to deal with and made our total remodel as easy as possible on us. Starting from the measurements, to the materials selection to the permits and installation, we are 100 percent satisfied. His attention to detail is superb. The project came out looking even better than I imagined. read more

Ortizlaw Construction did a fabulous job on replacing our windows. They performed their jobs professionally and on time. I found their prices to be very reasonable and competitive. Above all the job done was as fantastic. We have another more extensive home remodel job upcoming and will be using Ortizlaw for that job as well given our satisfaction with our first engagement. I would highly recommend Ortizlaw! read more

Last week, I had a challenging quirky project. I had to remodel to accommodate a new furnace (smallest is 14" wide) in a very narrow furnace closet that housed an old furnace was only 8 in wide. After talking to several contractors, getting several bids about my predicament for different parts of the project and for the whole project, I chose to use Cesar at Ortizlaw Construction who was meticulous on every detail. The finished project looks original to rest of condo and worked well with the furnace installation people. While he was not the least or the most expensive, I could not have asked for a better results in this tricky situation. From the finished project and my conversations with Cesar in comparison of others that I interviewed on site I am convinced that they were best as i have hired and supervised construction crews to build 4 clinical testing laboratories from the ground up and my custom built house. I plan to use Ortizlaw for my future projects in the Bay Area. read more

After my wife and I purchased a two bedroom, one bath house in the Sunset, we talked to several contractors about putting a room and bath down in our garage. The garage had what we felt was sufficient headroom and was empty except for an old gravity furnace. The estimates we got went from unaffordable to too low to trust. Cesar came in and immediately inspired confidence. He spoke knowledgeably about what would be required, how long it would take, and his estimate was reasonable and within our budget. From the moment he started work on the project until he handed me the final documents, Cesar was a pleasure to work with. The quality, speed, and cost of the work were exactly what he promised. He listened to our suggestions and offered his own, usually excellent ideas. When we encountered problems, he always had a solution. Inspections went off without a hitch. We ended up having to spend a bit more than we hoped (as you will read on most websites, cost overruns should be an expected part of your budget), but those extra costs were mainly the result of our decision to do additional work. Cesar has high standards, good taste, and an absolute commitment to customer satisfaction. He accommodated our quirks with good grace, warned us off some unwise choices, and left us with a space we're thrilled with. If I have a job in the future I'll call Cesar first and I would recommend him to anyone with a similar job. read more
