I found this place on Yelp and was impressed by all the good reviews. I decided to give them a try, and I'm SO glad I did. I put off making an appointment for a while due to COVID-19 concerns, and when I finally went in I was so pleased to enter into a safe and welcoming atmosphere. Everyone, staff and patients included, were wearing masks, and they did wellness checks through the window (questionnaire, temp check) at the front desk. All of the staff was extremely friendly, especially Monique, who was my patient advisor and answered ALL of my questions so quickly and kindly. She corresponded with me before and after the appointment and made my entire experience feel easy. The dental assistant that helped me was also very kind and knowledgeable and explained everything to me, I think her name was Janet but I'm not sure. I had to order a replacement, could have been one week to get them but the receptionist was not able to accommodate to my schedule and I was not able to wear my retainers for ~2 weeks, which was disappointing. Wow! The experience was very good. Staff is very friendly and very clean! Upon arriving, they had me fill out an online covid form, then checked my temperature, have me used a sanitizer that they provided and have me sat on one of their chairs in the waiting area which is 5-6 chairs apart from other patients. They open the door for you as well (coming in, and going out) and they sanitized everything after every use! I came in for a consultation but ended up starting my treatment on the same day cos they explained the process clearly. I came here for braces today and they are the nicest staff. Tina is so great! She is funny and caring. She put in my brackets today and was so gentle. It didn't hurt at all. I got my braces placed in 2018 and removed in 2020. I got a permanent lower retainer in the bottom teeth placed in 2021. Very friendly staff, very accommodating and very good about the COVID protocols and safety. Overall very happy with how my teeth turned out as well. What had impacted my visit is their staff and their service. Gosh, Monique is the best! Came here, got our scheduling mixed up but here is Monique smiling trying to help and with no attitude. ( normally when there are client issue sometimes employees give attitude ) but here no! And thats what struck me. I don't know how they got those good reviews. I went here with my friend to get consultation about braces on end of August. The first appointment went through really smooth and Dr. Shen was able to do Invisalign for both of us with tooth extractions, which made us very happy because we went couple other Otho none of them would able to use Invisalign as our treatment. So me and friend paid deposit and looking forward to start our treatment which they told us have to wait for 6weeks for the aligner to arrive. We were so happy that we got called on first week of October to get our aligners on. But when I sat on the dental chair looking at my tooth treatment picture, I didn't see any of tooth extraction plan on it, instead was tooth filling which I've already told Dr. Shen I don't want at the first consultation. But my friend's treatment plan was current. At the mean time the assistant had already put some attachments on my tooth. I stopped them and made them call Dr. Shen(who is not there at our appointment date). He apologized for his mistake on my treatment and admitted to make me new sets of aligners which I have to wait another 6 weeks or so. Fine, I waited till mid of November and I have to call them to check the status and got the answer that I have to still wait for 2 more weeks, at that time I've already paid deposit and 2 monthly payments for nothing. I talked with May asked if they would give me some discount on my treatment because of all the mass they've been done for delaying my treatment. She refused and only offer me a tooth whitening gel!(i don't know how many bucks will that cost them, but it means nothing to me) Finally, Dr.Shen called me end of November and scheduled me on Wednesday 12/9 to get started and I double checked with him to confirm the date and time through the phone.Now what, front desk called me in12/2, said Dr. Shen scheduled me on 12/8 Tuesday and the office has no orthodontist working on that day! What a service they have! I wasted 3 month on waiting and all these mess they go through. Now I'm worried about how actual my treatment outcome will be with this group! So people, really think about it before starting with them!!! read more

The first time I signed up the lady that reviewed paper works with kept asking when will I be receiving my tax return and suggested I use it for the down payment! Orthoworks was perfect for my mother and father and me and my brother. They've been around for over 40 years and have the same great service. The price is reasonable and they make sure you wear braces for as long as you need to because they are known for producing beautiful smiles. My smile hasn't changed since i got my braces off 15 years ago. I still wear my retainer each night. My brother didn't wear his retainer so his teeth shifted a lot. Wear your retainer and always take care of your teeth! This place is great! read more

WOW, Can I say RUDE?! Only two stars because the lady at the front desk and the lady that evaluated my teeth were extremely nice and welcoming. Went in for an initial consultation considering Invisalign but left with jaw dropping what the HECK?! First off my teeth is perfectly straight on the bottom, and crowded on top. I will need both, yes I understand. Doc came in and told me I'd be perfect for invisalign, easy process. about 12-18 months. cool whatever. Next she takes me to the finance lady, Debbie. Obviously my dental insurance does not cover invisalign since it is cosmetic work. She straight up said 6200 while smacking some sort of candy in her mouth. WHAT?!?! OK, so I remained calm and asked her is that the final price? then she says, well since you have family I can shave you 600 off. WHAT?! I bet it was probably because since she already knew ahead of time I had family who got work done by them, so she upped the price and said she would knock it down because 6200 for a mild case of invisalign is CRAZY! She says "we will have to do x-rays and maybe it could be lower or higher." Then proceeded with if you don't have the funds, you can think about it and shop around. But I have to be sure before she offers me the x-ray for the final price... THIS SOUND ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! Overall, nice people but the finance lady was absolutely degrading, rude and seriously... smacking her candy while talking to a potential client? Very unprofessional. This is one of those cases where you can tell they are getting into your pockets rather than caring for your oral needs. What a disappointment. I'll take my business elsewhere.. I came for a free initial consulation. I was quoted 5900 for metal braces without insurance, (the dental office had to wait for the referral from my general dentist to quote the exact price with insurance.) I received the approval first which stated my copay would be 1900 for the braces. The price didn't include additional charges for X-rays, and study models, etc. which my insurance company said it would be an additional 1k or less. When Monique called from the finance department, she stated 4000!!! for metal braces. I was shocked at first and didn't ask any questions and said I would pass. Then I placed another call to my insurance company and they thought it was outrageous. They suggested I get an itemized list of charges with the codes that they charge to the insurance company. I phoned Monique again simply asking for the codes and charges, and she put me on hold. Amy, accounting person gets on the phone immediately and begins to tell me, unbidden, how the office has the right to charge "additional items" as they choose. At which point I told her I was just asking for the itemized charges to provide to my insurance company. Amy said it would take a day to compose it. Well, where was Monique quoting her $4000 from? Shouldn't something be available already? A couple of days later, when I picked up the letter, it was magically reduced to 3500. Which still was overpriced. I ask to speak to Amy but she would not come to the front nor was I invited to her office like at my first consultation. I was asked to speak to her via the lobby phone. When I went over the charges letting her know that I was still be overcharged and also being charged for my "free consulation", she became rude and evasive. I ended the conversation because I didn't want to waste my time with this place who overcharges their customers. I will be reporting them though. TIP: Check what they charge you with your insurance company. read more

The people who work there are super nice, especially this one lady named Brenda who suggested to remove my braces since they were straight enough. I am terribly surprised to notice that my favorite ortho isn't getting any yelp love. Let the record show that Dr.Shen and folks are the second orthodontists in the area that I have worked with and that they are beyond wonderful. Also, that when it comes to my teeth I am one picky customer. First off, despite the fact that you have to sit in what I can only call the "zoo," a good number of the patients are adults or at least older teenagers. Secondly, unlike some other orthos, Dr. Shen doesn't treat an adult like a fourteen year old. He knows that if I say I wear my braces that I probably do, and that if not at least I don't need him to ask my mom to remind me. Secondly, they are one of the most techno savvy dental offices I have ever been too. Patients are able to log onto their website and check their appointments, e-mail their orthodontists and look at their pictures/x-rays. Lastly, they are really sweet. All of the hygienists I have worked with - and in the zoo it seems like it is come as they will sometimes- have been really funny and upbeat. So there you go. If you're looking for a great orthodontist, then Dr. Shen is your guy - he even has offices on the peninsula and in the city. Yay! read more

From the start of my treatment, they already said I needed it for years and exactly 2 years later, I got them off. in addition with my other teeth situations and not having braces on for about a few months during the treatment, I was still able to take them off in 2 years. Some people may not like the idea that the main orthodontist looks at you for a few minutes and let the helpers do everything else, but I don't mind it. Everyone is very nice and friendly and sociable. Definitely recommending people to come here and most people that I know that have been to orthoworks have gotten their braces within the time period they claim. read more

My husband and daughter have both been receiving treatment here at orthoworks and our family couldn't more pleased with the staff and the dental assistants at the facility. Whenever we arrive, we are always warmly greeted by Alma, she treats us like family and knows us by name. Alma is always willing to go the extra mile to answer any questions and always provides top notch service, she makes us feel at home and welcome with every visit or phone encounter. Alma continues to provide personalized customer service experiences when we call into the office or come in for an appointment and is very much an asset to the office for sure. She makes our daughter's visits memorable and positive each time. We have also had very positive encounters with Paola whether she is at the front desk or behind the scenes preparing our insurance documents she is very professional and always makes sure we are taken care of. My daughter and husband always receive the best of care during their appointments and have been assisted by Nina and Janet for their adjustments. My daughter is always made to feel at ease and is treated kindly whenever she is seen. This is important for me because she is only 9 years of age and it can be a pretty nerve wrecking experience if the staff is not friendly and well equipped like they are here at orthoworks. My daughter needed braces and I wanted to make sure I picked the perfect place for her care. I searched long and hard for the perfect orthodontist. I finally settled on Ortho Works San Bruno. After speaking to Nikki at the front desk I knew this was it. She was so sweet, funny and polite. Great customer service. She pulled up my insurance information for me since I didn't have my card on me. They got her in asap! The office was clean, everyone was super friendly and they were on time. Tina, Nina and Dr. Yoon were the clinical staff and I was very impressed with their service as well. They were fast and efficient and had excellent bedside manner. My daughter was very nervous and they immediately put her at ease. After the consultation, Monique went over the finance options. I was very satisfied with their pricing. She was even able to get the price down for the Invisalign braces to same as the metal ones! She was so funny and thorough! She literally had me in tears! While I was dealing with the paperwork, the clinical staff and Janet were doing X-rays, exams, and were even able to put on brackets and spacers the same day! They also gave her a goodie bag and have this cute rewards program, exp- if you get As on your report card, you get prizes, etc. Janet walked out with my daughter who had a Beaming smile on her face and explained the at home care to me.
