Dr. Lee rocks! Being an adult with braces, I'm sure I am a little more demanding and inquisitive than the average child patient she sees. But, she always happily puts up with all of my many questions and requests. When I'm getting carried away, she kindly brings me back to reality in a very professional manner. My work involves a lot of client interface so I chose the clear braces and usually have the clear bands. Because the clear bands stain more easily, I go in often to change my bands and she never asks twice about it. She always squeezes me in if necessary and I feel well taken care of by her. Also, her new office in Burlingame/Millbrae, is extremely clean, beautiful and calming. I would highly recommend her for Orthodontic treatment! Update: Still getting lots of compliments on my teeth! I can't recommend. If you pay attention you notice her staff changes constantly. I agree with another reviewer that wrote that you sometimes get a professional Dr. Lee, and other times you get a snarky passive aggressive Dr. Lee. This treatment is expensive and the trays she is providing seem to be a cheap knock off. They are not Invisalign brand. If I understood they were not the actual Invisalign I would not have started my child there. If your child complains about fit or something she is quick to invalidate it. Will switch with next child. My daughter got braces with Dr Lee and we were very disappointed by the experience, considering she charges a lot for her services. When we went for periodic visits, we didn't know what to expect since sometimes we got the nice and friendly Dr Lee and other times we got the cold and get out of my office asap Dr Lee. She may be a decent orthodontist, but she cares more about her bottom line and not exceeding the initial time frame of treatment than making sure her patients teeth are nice and straight. My daughter had a slight imperfection along the top row of her teeth and Dr Lee brushed it off like it was no big deal. Again, disappointing for a highly priced provider, and she charges separately for retainers. The only thing great about the office was the dental assistants. My daughter has been seeing Dr. April Lee for complex orthodontic issues for the past couple of years. Dr. Lee is patient, funny and kind. She always takes the time to explain the treatment plan and the rationale behind it. We always feel reassured, welcome and taken care of at her office. I feel really lucky to be referred here to Dr. April Lee from my dentist after she has discovered the condition that I had, which would benefit from a surgery. Dr. Lee leads an amazing team of staffs, everyone is so nice and very considerate. I was so moved half way into my program, they had prepared me a birthday balloon and gift. I am extremely happy with my results since I came in very nervous given I am no longer a teenager any more and there is a surgery involved. She will hard sell the Invisalign for your child only to blame the parent for not enforcing your child to wear 24/7 when you're not completely satisfied with the end result. Just right before Covid hit, she told us that she'll switch to regular braces if the Invisalign didn't do the job correctly. Well, after we were allowed to go back in the office, she completely did a 180 and acted like a complete bully ,and in front of my child, trying to lecture me on how to parent my child so she would have kept the Invisalign on 24/7. Wow! Ok! I was merely only trying to ask her for her opinion at first on the progress of my child's teeth but instead was met with hostility and unprofessionalism. I should've stayed with my child's original pediatric ortho in the city if not for the distance. I am going to be honest here, I really liked the office culture and the puppy. Dr. Lee was more expensive than my other quotes, but I was all set to move forward with her because she runs a tight ship, my questions were answered thoroughly, and Cindy was awesome. I had one specific question around payment possibilities that seemed reasonable to me. This was flatly denied, which was totally fine. The problem comes when I asked to just speak to the doctor or someone able to make a decision. I was told I could not speak to the doctor as she was sitting in the other room. Maybe this is arrogant or ego driven from my side, and the financial discussions are not in the doctor's purview. But, it signified a lack of personal touch that ultimately pushed my decision to not move forward. I'm so glad my previous dentist referred me to Dr. April Lee! My teeth weren't terrible to begin with but I've always wanted straighter teeth, mainly for hygienic reasons, and I'm very happy with my results. My teeth are straight, so there aren't any hard-to-reach areas between my teeth now. And my bite is corrected, which apparently has changed the shape of my face/jaw, but I can actually chew on both sides of my mouth now! The staff are amazing and responsive. Teddy is their friendly office dog. And Dr. Lee really cares about her patients' teeth, but be aware - putting braces on and off is NOT an easy task, so it requires some pushing and pulling on your teeth. I've been making monthly visits from the East Bay for almost 3 years now, but I'm finally done-ish. My daughter's dentist noticed that her baby teeth were already getting impacted (at age 7) and mentioned that her adult teeth would likely come in impacted and too crowded to fit in her mouth. He referred us to Dr. Lee at Burlingame Smile. Honestly, I was initially very skeptical about the need to get an expander for my daughter's mouth and then getting Phase 1 braces, especially because she's so young... But we decided to go for it and it's made a huge difference for my daughter. Her adult teeth are coming in with enough room now. Whenever a tooth is coming in crooked, Dr. Lee and her team are able to steer it back with the braces. The follow-up appointments are well-timed and super quick! I tried smile direct club couple years ago and I hated the whole experience. It's worth the money to do it the right way at Dr. April Lee's office. Everyone on her team are so amazing and caring. Communication has been great. This is why you should choose to get your braces/ invisalign at an orthodontist office instead of places like smile direct club (SMC) . The MD will follow your progress and give feedback thru Invisalign app weekly. Clinical staffs will take your 3D scan. Whereas places like SMC , it's all done by technicians that may have limited knowledge. I noticed the aligners from SMC were way tighter which caused my teeth to move too fast. I am so glad I found Dr. Lee's office. Glady to pay the extra money for 100% satisfaction. read more

My daughter got her braces a few years ago and I've been hesitating to write this review but it was such a sour experience that it's difficult not to remember how uncomfortable our experience was with this office. After all, braces are a life milestone and investment for people. I agree with another reviewer when they said they felt "hard sold." My family was able to get an appointment right away when I called to inquire about braces for my daughter. All smiles and jokes along with a cute dog in the office then they get you right into costs and contracts but not so friendly after the braces were on. Passive aggressive staff, especially the older Asian lady who coordinates the billing. It made for very tense and uncomfortable follow up appointments and honestly, I think they prematurely removed my daughters braces just to get us off their books. The contact for braces or Invisalign includes follow up visits but after collecting your $10K plus it doesn't benefit them to have you come in for visits. They already have your money. By the way, never ever reschedule or cancel appointments because the staff treats you even crappier thereafter! I'm sure they have a "list" of clients they can't stand and I'm pretty sure we were on it. Glad to hear many people are satisfied here but my experience lends me to feel Dr. April and the staff gossip about clients behind their backs or just gave us a weird vibe. We brought in our 8-year-old​ boy for expander consultation because his teeth are really​​ crowded. Dr. Lee has a dream team. Kiana and Cindy are really nice and easy to work with in terms of payment plans and appointment. We had a couple of​ incidents that his bracket fell out. I can't rave enough about my experiences with Dr. Lee. I originally met her in 2010 to have a sleep guard made and a consult. I instantly referred her to several of my clients as her manner was warm and I appreciated her knowledge on several options that she presented to me. This is the only office that promptly picked up and had availability right away. The staff does a wonderful job being mindful of COVID-19 and ensuring their office is safe. My daughter recently had her expanders done with Dr. Lee. We were called back for a follow up, where we were told that another $10,000 was needed for a surgery to remove her abnormally growing tooth, and additional work was needed. As soon as my daughter heard the word "surgery", she was almost in tears with horror. I asked what the possible outcomes might be if we decided not to do it, and the response was "well that's your daughter". Maybe she meant that if I cared about my daughter enough, then I would pay. It was such an unprofessional experience, and I thought my question was a valid one. When I went to see another orthodontist for a second opinion, we were told, to my daughter's great relief, that a surgery might not be necessary and her tooth could be saved. Dr. Lee is an incredibly talented, caring, and professional orthodontist. If you are contemplating Invisalign, she's the first person I recommend you consider for your treatment. When my dentist first suggested I consider orthodontic treatment to correct my bite, I was skeptical and highly reluctant. I spent over a year debating whether or not I should actually go ahead with the treatment. A friend suggested that I consult with Dr. Lee before making a decision. At my evaluation with Dr. Lee, she was able to convey exactly what my options were and provided great advice on the pros and cons of everything. She was very upfront with everything. Once I got my braces on, the entire staff was extremely helpful especially the multiple times where the brackets came off. They were always trying to schedule me in as soon as they could in these cases. I never had to wait weeks to resolve issues. I also liked how they also got back to me each time I had questions/issues. During appointments, the team is very personable and easy to talk to, so it never feels like you're just coming in as just a customer. Dr. April Lee is excellent! She has given us the same consistant excellence from day one. She is very engaging and informative with my son and keeps us both updated of the estimated time the braces are coming off.
