First of all, the visit was great, everything was wonderful, I took my son in for his first free evaluation estimate and procedures done on 01/29/2026 at the end of the procedures we met with an Advisor A.K.A payment plans person name Celeste, we talked to her and at the end of our conversation she said ok I will e-mailed you the information so you can discuss which plans you want to go with your wife. 24hrs later, nothing, 1 week, nothing, 2 weeks? On 02/09/26, I called the office and said I had not received anything from my email for weeks. Can you verify you have my correct information? They said Yes, we are sorry. We will email you in a few hours, a day later, nothing at all. I emailed them again on 02/10/26, 7days later, still no response. This is very unprofessional. If I have to call/emailed you just to follow up as your customer, then no, thank you. I'm not getting a free braces service here! I will be going elsewhere even if its 20 mins drive vs 10 mins. Thankfully, Dr. Fang had a fabulous idea to fix the spacing and small spots on my teeth that were still noticeable after my Invisalign was completed by Dr. Shen. Dr. Shen is very nice and kind, but sometimes it can be difficult when you need to come back to the office to address concerns. I really appreciate that Dr. Fang took the time to carefully explain everything, was very patient, and truly understood my situation. This review has been long awaiting but I am here to make someone's choice a little easier. I got a good quote in my opinion and they worked with the little insurance I did have to give me a discount, which was helpful! I love the options they offered need, Dr. Fang never pushed me for what they wanted, rather they asked me what I wanted to achieve. We came to a good consensus and 2 years later my braces are off and I'm pretty happy. Side note: -they quoted 24 months and I got them off in 23 1/2 haha great timing in my opinion !! -Traditional braces -Also I love the extra attention to shaving down my teeth with higher spots, giving my teeth a more even appearance. -The retainers are included in the price! -I don't like Invisalign btw So yeah This place is awesome! I love the STAFF :) big shout out to Pamela, she is an amazing employee. Every time she seen me in office she called me by name and remembered all the little details we may have discuss a while ago. I was hesitant to write this review because I usually brush things off and give people the benefit of the doubt. I think, "maybe this is an off day", we all have those, right? However, I've had multiple bad encounters during my treatment and I feel people should know what they're getting themselves into if they work with Dr. Ma. **This review is for my current treatment with Dr. Ma** Given the great experience I had when I completed my braces treatment in the early 2000s, I thought I would give this location a chance as an adult in my 30s. For context, it's currently been 10-months from the start of my treatment for Invisalign. I've had the patience for the past 10 months hoping the experience would be better. [Quality of Service] During my most recent appointment, Dr. Ma was rude and walked away from me (further details on what we talked about in the 'expectation' portion below). In the middle of our conversation, she interrupts me and tells me to make an appointment with Dr. Shen, and then walks away. I didn't even realize what just happened and that the appointment was apparently over? So I got up but realized she didn't address my rubber bands. I had to double-check with her as I was walking out if I still needed to wear rubber bands since she did not address this. First, I was shocked that she walked away and treated me that way. We weren't even talking for very long (3-4min) into my appointment. Second, the fact that I had to bring this up was disappointing because the doctor should provide all the prescribed information you need before leaving. I find the whole experience really unprofessional. [Expectations] From the start of my treatment, I haven't had the best experience with Dr. Ma. For example, I've asked her various questions regarding my treatment, but she is not clear in her explanation. I try to ask clarifying questions, but I always leave feeling misunderstood. More than halfway into my treatment, Dr. Ma informs me that we can't achieve what I asked for from my initial consultation last year. I understand there may be limitations, however, she just said we can't do it and did not provide any clarification or alternatives. This surprised me and left me feeling disappointed. I ended up coming in another time to speak with Dr. Shen about the same concerns and what I wanted to achieve. During my time with Dr. Shen, the experience was significantly better. He was able to provide clear explanations and solutions behind what I wanted. [Punctuality] My appointments never start on time. When I arrive, I get checked in right away, but once I am seated in the chair I would be waiting for another 15 minutes for Dr. Ma. This happens every time. I would be more understanding if the office was full of patients, but whenever I go, there are empty chairs around me with 1-2 patients. For example, during one of my appointments, I overheard Dr. Ma having a casual conversation with her colleague and taking her time while I was waiting (again no other patients were there). When this initially happened, I brushed it off but this has happened every single time I've come in (3-4 times). As a patient, I do not feel like a priority when I come in. [Conclusion] Moving forward, I will make my appointments with Dr. Shen as my experience with him is better. With Dr. Shen, we start on time, and explanations about my treatment are thorough. The reason I am not giving this a 1-star is that the front desk and assistants are very pleasant to interact with and they are always so friendly. I've also been a long-time patient, and I had a good experience the first time I was here (15 years ago). Overall, If you decide to come to this office, I would steer clear of Dr. Ma and go with Dr. Shen. read more

It's funny how every review on here is really positive. I haven't started treatment yet and things have already seem off. (I do want to clarify that from the one short encounter I've had with Dr. Shen, he has been very nice and cordial with me; this review is not about him.) I'm writing this review because even though I haven't started treatment yet, the assistants have left me pretty baffled and unsatisfied in how they handled things. I got scans done when I went in for the consultation; I informed them that I needed to get fillings done after that. They said okay and told me to call them to let them know once I'm done and they'll decide if I need to come in for a rescan. I called them to inform them my fillings were done and was told it wasn't a big deal and that I DO NOT need to come in. Great. Was told it would take 6 weeks for aligners to come in. Okay, fine, I waited. Come the day of appointment for me to start my treatment, they call me to tell me my aligners are not here because I needed to come in to rescan my teeth. (which they should've done a long time ago????) Now why didn't they just tell me upfront when I called them a month and a half ago that I needed to come in for scans again instead of waiting till the day of my appointment to tell me that. It's disrespectful of my time and it must be amusing to them to make people suffer for something they messed up on. Cool. Now I still have to wait another 5 weeks for my aligners to come in and start treatment. Splendid. read more

I visited OrthoWorks office in San Bruno for my braces evaluation. I was attended by a welcoming and attentive staff. While waiting at the reception area, I immediately noticed that the staff know their patients BY NAME. To me that is very impressive! The doctor thoroughly explained to me the different treatment options that fit my needs and answered questions about the process. Our last appointment was Aug 22nd and we were told to return by Oct 3rd. My daughter has been wearing the same one for almost 6 weeks. I called in many times in between and I was told order is 'pending'. One person said "this is odd- I have never seen like this". The clinic normally sends at least 2 emails and 2 txt messages of upcoming appointment... Didn't receive the appointment reminder before Oct 3rd so that I called the clinic to check on our appointment status. Found out the appointment was canceled without any communication. Each time I called in to check on status, I either got to talk to very rude staff or very nice person whom never return the follow up calls. I am very disappointed. The worse part is that I am not told what is really going on or what are the steps or what to expect. The lady who answered my call on Oct 3rd said they don't have control over UPS delivery. Know that I have been calling to check on the status at least once a week since end of Aug. if the appointment got canceled due to not receiving the order - should I not get a call and inform me about the appointment cancellation? My daughter started on Feb 22, 2022. I paid in full!!!! Things were good until July - we had all the sets we need to change weekly. Then come Aug, when I called in for an appointment due to out of Invisalign retainer sets, Very rude person finally answered, after many emails and many calls without being able to leave voice mail. She told me she didn't work at San Bruno and she was rude when I asked why did I not get the follow up - she said the parent should know to schedule the the next appointment during the visit. I was so shocked - there wasn't any clear communication or guidance this whole time and now I am told I should know what to do. This is beyond acceptable. I need the proper answer and explanation of what is really going on and I want to know the actual process. I want to talk to the person in-charge perhaps the orthodontist can call me and explain this process. I understand we all are human and we make mistakes but own it!!! I've gotten my braces here a number of years ago and had a great experience. The doctors were nice and staff was friendly. They had hours where they were open early and late and even weekends that you can get in easily to match your schedule. Based on that previous experience, they were the only ones I considered now that my kids need ortho as well BUT, I should have looked at other places before going with them again. Especially if you are not doing invisalign and going with traditional wire braces. They are now HORRIBLE in booking an appointment, they don't have a doctor on staff everyday - only a couple of days a week so you are forced to only pick those days to bring your child for the adjustment - of course they are booked fast. I have to pull my kids from school just to get their adjustments in time. Very inconvenient. They said they are open for Sat and yet you can't make an adjustment appointment for that. Then they give you the option to go to their other offices which is in SF or Atherton...they are not close by! read more

Dr Ma is an orthodontist that makes magic happen and teaches you how to lengthen the health lifespan of your teeth! I got 10 trays of Invisalign in late May from Dr Ma and I am currently in tray 9 with almost perfectly straight teeth.  She was incredibly patient in answering  questions and alleviating my concerns as well as being super responsive during the whole treatment process. Three pieces of teeth-changing advice she gave me: 1. Brush my teeth gently as I am showing signs of gum recession  by brushing my teeth super hard with OralB 2. Use a soft brush head. I switched from OralB to Sonic Care for the soft brush head. 3. Wait at least 15 minutes after eating/ drinking before brushing teeth I have had so many dentists over the years and none of them told me that I've been doing it all wrong. Thanks to Dr Ma, my teeth will survive longer on their own. read more
