Extremely Disappointing and Unacceptable Quality
I am beyond disappointed with my experience with Orthotic & Prosthetic Lab, Inc. I paid over $4,000 out of pocket for custom AFOs for my child--medical equipment that we trusted would be safe, durable, and professionally made. What we received was the complete opposite.
On the very day we picked up the AFOs made for nighttime wear, one of the heat bonds connecting the Velcro straps was already broken. This was before the boots were ever used. The doctor had to insert a temporary rivet just so the brace could be worn at all. That alone should never happen with custom medical equipment at this price point.
Only five days later, the other strap failed as well. These AFOs are worn only to bed--they are not walked in, not used for sports, and not subjected to heavy wear of any kind. There is no reasonable explanation for this level of failure.
We returned the braces so the lab could perform "proper" heat bond repairs. After only three weeks out of the required twelve weeks of use, the heat bond broke AGAIN. I now have to take them back yet again for another repair.
At this point:
I have paid over $4,000 out of pocket
I have taken multiple hours off work for repeated appointments and repairs
The same failure has happened multiple times despite "repairs"
This is not a minor inconvenience. This is poor workmanship, poor quality control, and a complete lack of accountability for a product that families rely on for their children's health and safety.
For the cost of these AFOs, I expected durable workmanship and a product that would last--not repeated failures, temporary fixes, and no accountability from Orthotic & Prosthetic Lab, Inc. I cannot recommend this company to any parent, especially those already under the stress of managing complex medical needs. read more
