They did a great job repairing some damaged plaster to my 1925 craftsman home in Renton! I will recommend them to my family and friends. The photos of before and after speak for themselves!

We had Ornamental Plaster come into our home to fix some walls we had around windows after a bad water leak last year. With his great reviews and the cost of his service, we were expecting better work than what we received. He came over 2 times- each about 2 hours. 1 to do the work and a second time after we complained that the work wasn't fully done. He actually left us with tools to sand down our walls ourselves after we complained about the bumps and imperfections. Apparently that is not part of the work we had paid him to do. He left a great mess each time and we had to lend him our own cleaning supplies to clean up the mess he made and dragged throughout our home. Even after he came over twice, you can still see the cracks and bumps in our walls. We recently had other plaster and drywall work done by a company who did a great job and it is a complete night and day between their work and that of Ornamental Plaster. He was clearly in this to make a quick buck and I wouldn't recommend this company for any work. There is no way he should call himself an artist with the quality of work he provided.

Disappointment and underwhelm are the main feelings I was left with after working with Ornamental Plaster Arts. We have a 1919 craftsman home with lath and plaster walls. There were hairline cracks and some loose plaster throughout our home. In the beginning of September 2022, we hired Hamza to replaster the walls and ceilings in our kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and office because his reviews were overwhelming positive and he didn't have any claims or reports on L&I contractor information. Plus there are very few contractors who are even doing plaster repair work. We were initially so excited to be working with a master craftsman but soon became concerned about his work. Before beginning the job, I asked him if the product he uses on the wall is a lime based plaster. I wanted a plaster skimcoat because it is more resilient to scratches and gouges. He assured me it was. However, I found out he used joint compound on all the walls and ceilings. For anyone unfamiliar with the difference between joint compound, hot mud and plaster, please see this great Youtube video by See Jane Drill: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoF5F9AuZ98 Basically, joint compound is intended to repair small holes or smooth the taped seams on drywall. It is NOT intended to skim coat walls and ceilings. All of our durable, scratch resistant plaster walls are now covered with a layer of joint compound which mars and gouges VERY easily and is not appropriate for bathrooms or kitchens that also have higher humidity levels than other rooms in a home. When I asked him what product he used he lied to me and said he used USG Imperial. However, I took pictures of the bags of joint compound in the trash bags left in my home (see attached pictures). His workmanship was very sloppy and substandard. See attached pictures. He left two large bulges in our kitchen, lots of unfinished edges, trowel marks and general poor quality work. Our kitchen light fixture was broken by either Hamza or his assistant. I waited to see if he would mention this damage but he didn't. I had to bring it up to him a couple days into his work, at which point he blamed it on his assistant. He did offer to pay for the fixture, which I simply deducted from his final payment. Hamza was very messy and did not protect our hardwood floors, baseboards, cabinets, air vents, sinks or bathtub. I asked him before he began if I needed to empty all the kitchen cupboards or tape them up. He assured me he would handle it but he didn't drape or tape up the cabinets so everything inside the cupboards was coated with dust. I had to remove everything, wash it and put it all away again. There was thick dust and debris in all our ducts and air vents. I had to pay a company to clean them. Large globs of joint compound were left around the crown moulding, door mouldings, in corners and on my floor, air vents, countertops and bathroom sink and bathtub. There are also large pink drips and splatters from the plaster weld product he used as the adhesive layer before applying the joint compound. I talked with him about the mess and the sloppy edges and corners mid-way through the job but he didn't correct the problem. At the end of the job, he 'cleaned up' all the layers of dust by pouring a large amount of water on my hardwood floors and sopping it up with towels. There was so much water that it was coming through the ceiling in the basement. I found communicating with Hamza very difficult. He didn't listen to our concerns and spoke to us in a condescending way. For example, when my husband asked him about the water pouring into the basement, he told him to go check our plumbing pipes. I was so ready for Hamza to be finished working on our home so I could find someone else to repair his sloppy work or do it myself. To date, I have repaired the sloppy work in my bedroom and office. I painted these rooms with 3 coats of a quality base coat and 2 coats of a pre-limewash primer and 4 coats of limewash. Even with all these coats, the walls still scratch/mar easily. I have still not found a contractor to repair the kitchen and bathroom. I may re-do all the walls and ceilings with a microcement. I asked for a half of my money back but Hamza said he would not refund my money and that he did a great job for me. Again, I felt communication with him was poor. Please be aware if you hire him for a job, and get in writing what product he is using on your walls for the plaster repairs or skim coating.

Great job! Great attention to detail! We love the results. The crown molding looks amazing and the medallions are perfect for our room. Couldn't be happier!

Hamza and his crew fixed 2 of our bedrooms. They fixed the lathe and plaster and did several coats. Our house was built in 1908 and when we went to remove the 5 or so layers of wallpaper the plaster walls were damaged. He came out really fast and gave us a quote on the spot. Within a couple of weeks, he was back to prep the room and was able to finish the entire project it just 1 day (2 if you count the prep). He is very friendly and I really trust his work. We contacted a lot of places before deciding to go with them and I am so happy we did. They are very honest, courteous, and do the job really well. I highly recommend them for anyone looking to repair plaster walls!

We could not be more pleased with how the ceilings turned out!

Knowing this was going to be a good size job, we got a few quotes before starting the work. Daniel was one of the quotes. While he was not the cheapest, I was impressed with his knowledge and the thoroughness of the estimate. He also gave us a sheet of references and after calling some we picked him for the job. Right away I knew we made the correct choice. He did an excellent job guiding us through the process of picking out the doors and letting us know the type of hardware. When it was time for the work to start he was very communicative as to what he was going to do and when. He also sent me a few photos of the work in progress during the day so I could see what was going on. It was a nice touch. When the job was complete it came in on budget and was well done.

Well, very small turned out to be not-so-small and we needed a contractor to help. Many of the contractors I contacted never returned my calls or emails. Of those who did, only Daniel asked lots of questions, came out to meet us and see the house, and stayed in contact without aggressively selling to us at every turn. Daniel was a pleasure to work with in every respect. He communicated frequently, was straightforward with us about options and cost and delivered a quick, professional result. He was friendly and respectful even though our little job and house are much smaller than his normal work. We're so thankful that we found a good contractor on our first try and will definitely work with Westbrook Restorations again! (Note: Westbrook Restorations isn't going to be your cheapest option, and it may likely be the most expensive, but it's absolutely worth it).

We are so glad we went with Wise Choice!…read more After meeting with several contractors, my wife and I chose them to do an addition to our house. We first learned about Wise Choice through Yelp, and although we were initially nervous about choosing a contractor for such a large job (they gave us the best estimate, by far!) without a personal recommendation, we couldn't be happier with our decision. They were great to work with throughout the entire process, from architectural and engineering plans, permitting, and the actual construction. The project manager, Sergiy, and foreman, Bogdan, were very honest, helpful, and responsive every step of the way. The project was completed pretty much on budget (with only a couple of unforeseen issues outside of their control) and on time. We love the results, and several people have commented that the addition looks like it should have been there all along. We can't recommend Wise Choice highly enough!
