Super shocked Orlando's has so little views on Yelp! Let's get those up! The reason for my visit was that they were hosting a free tasting of select items on their menu. According to Mr. Orlando himself, they (now) offer a free tasting 3 times a year. So if you're planning an event, make sure to add them on your list. This was helpful for my fiancé and I as we have contracted with them for our wedding. Moving on, the location itself is located right off 55 which makes it convenient for traveling. All of the sales representatives were present and assisting with check-in, serving, and connecting with attendees. Vendors were also available (formal wear, travel, photo and DJ, ice cream). The tasting was more than I imagined. Typically when you think of a "tasting" you think of being served a small sample size. Instead, they legit offered a signature appetizer and had a self serving buffet complete with several items from both of their classic and deluxe menus. Two of us went to their inaugural Thanksgiving buffet this year without knowing much about Orlando's and we were quite pleased! It's basically a big banquet hall with tables to seat parties as small as ours to families of 12 or more and everything in between. As I said, it was buffet style with generous servings of all the traditional sides plus salad, macaroni and cheese, Brussels sprouts, and a LOT of dessert options (the pecan pie was the stand out winner). There was a carving station with turkey, ham, and roast beef. The staff was incredibly organized and kept the food fresh and the serving dishes full. It never felt too crowded or less than festive. They had a moment where a chef with a large chopping knife chased a turkey (person in an inflatable turkey costume) around the room for entertainment. A family sitting near us even brought their own games to play after they were done eating; they must have known they could stay and hang out due to the timed seatings. We are already considering returning for Mother's Day brunch. read more

We went to Easter brunch here yesterday. We always like to find a good brunch buffet especially for holidays like Easter, Mother's and Father's Day. Sometimes buffet food isn't quite up to par, but that was not the case here. They had a huge variety and everything I had was really good. They had omelet, pasta, slider, and waffle stations, plus all of your breakfast favorite- eggs Benedict, biscuits, gravy, bacon, sausage, etc. plus a variety of fruits and pastries. A full lunch side with salad bar, carved roast beef and ham, loaded garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus, lightly breaded chicken with a cream sauce, cocktail shrimp, plus at least 15-20 dessert options including a really good bread pudding. Sometimes a brunch buffet isn't worth the 35.00+ price tag but this definitely was. I only have 2 complaints...they had bagels and salmon, but no cream cheese and I think soda should be included in the price. The mark up on soft drinks is huge and having them available only at the cash bar was inconvenient, plus our waitress told us they had Dr. Pepper, however after waiting at the bar to get one we were told they didn't. For cents that a soda cost them, I think they should include that in the price. That won't keep us from coming back- already looking forward to Mother's Day and this may be our regular Easter spot. read more

I was invited to a wedding here. The service at this place was horrible. The bride had been asked multiple times how long she would take doing certain things. The bride felt as though she was being rushed. She stated that if she's paid her money and is on schedule nobody should be rushing her. The workers were grabbing on the DJs equipment asking her to turn down her music (at a wedding). Another worker tried to grab the DJs equipment . When asked by the DJ not to touch her equipment the man proceeded to slam the door in someone's moms face. I could tell that the bride was annoyed but wanted to continue to enjoy her night without them ruining it. I enjoyed the wedding but seeing the service that was giving, I will not be using them. I also wouldn't recommend anyone use them. read more

I helped book an event here last year. The staff was friendly and the food was solid-good for a catering hall. It was a nice experience, and I know that the organization I worked for immediately rebooked with Orlando's for this year's event (which was held a few weeks ago). Imagine my surprise when I found out that the helpful and considerate catering hall of a year ago turned around and publicly disparaged the organizers of the yearly event. They claimed that the political agenda of the organization was not in line with their own religious and personal philosophy. I was shocked to hear that they would be donating the proceeds from the event. They also put out a statement that effectively banned the organization from using their services again, and extended the same 'courtesy' to those organizations that share similar beliefs. I cannot in good conscience give a good review to an organization that would take money two years in a row from an organization, and then very publicly denounce this same group. Personal beliefs have no place in business relationships. read more

I have been coming here annually for about 9 years now, and year after year I come away happy and satisfied. they are most definitely not your typical conference banquet center, no not at all. OG goes way out of their way to make sure your evening goes smoothly and without complication. the foods I have eaten here have always been pleasing to the pallet, and the service from the employees is just as good as the food. read more

We got married at The Lodge at Grant's Trail. I at first avoided checking out Orlando's because I had those good old prom memories and thought it wouldn't be the right feel for us (banquet halls are not my favorite thing), but boy I was wrong. We loved the Lodge (I have a separate review for that), and the staff at Orlando's showed again and again why they have been such a successful business for such a long time. Jim was fantastic to work with--professional, easygoing, and eager to make us happy with our event. I was really able to let go of my need to control my own wedding and let him and his staff just take care of our needs for the day. The on-site staff for the wedding and reception were super friendly, asking us if we needed drinks and making sure we were happy. The seating arrangement allowed us to be just a little separated from the rest of the reception in the Lodge, which we loved. It allowed us to really sit back and "take in" the joy surrounding us as we ate dinner, without being pestered by too many of our well-meaning friends and family. The food was awesome, too. People went on and on about it. They have tastings about every month so you can go and figure out what you want to serve. They were super cool about being gluten-free friendly for me and some of my guests. Our only complaint was that it was hot and the dancing space was outside the Lodge, but if I expected Jim to control the weather he'd have to be some kind of miracle worker, which is expecting a bit much. We met with a couple caterers for our Wedding which was this past month and it was Denise at Orlando's that stood out. We used them only for our offsite wedding and not their Banquet Center so we can not rate the actual location. In regards to our Wedding at The Sheldon - I am sure everyone at Orlando's is great because our event went so well and the food was amazing - BUT I worked directly with Denise and she, to me, is what made them exceptional. I am a very anxious person, especially when I'm doing something I've never done and she was so good to me. I didn't want to overwhelm her with silly questions and she made me feel like nothing I asked was silly and that no matter what she will be there to answer anything and be there to make the event go perfect. To me, that is what happened. I adore her as a person and a professional and I can't thank her enough for her help. She certainly represents Orlando's well. In regards to the food and the service the day of - to me it was seamless and delicious. Everyone LOVED the grilled cheese and the quiche. I, unfortunately didn't get to enjoy it as much because I was too anxious to eat, but what I did have was very good. Oh and I have to add, Denise made sure to put away some cake for us so we could have it for later. Thank goodness she did, because we didn't really get to have any that night. I disagree with the previous poster because I am not Catholic and we are having our wedding reception there in August. I am very happy with Orlando's this far. They are very willing to work on payments and the amount of people you have to have. Drew is very friendly and they get back to you quickly over the phone as well to answer any questions or concerns you may have. When we did the food sample, I tried most of the food, and it all looked good and tasted very good. read more

They were so easy-going and so accomodating it made the planning and that day go so smoothly! I did not have to worry about one thing they took care of it all! The only two reviews of this venue are 3 and 4 years old. The quality of the service has apparently deteriorated badly since then. Our son's wedding reception was a large group, 230+ guests. It was scheduled to begin at 7 pm. The wedding party was forced to wait for more than 1/2 hour in the bathrooms to be introduced, while the no-personality Orlando Gardens' MC worked another reception. The band director came to apologize to the parents and explain the unreasonable wait. The band would have been happy to do the introductions, if we'd only known. The father of the groom could have done a much better job than Bill. The father of the bride had to ask for the parents' table to be served champaigne when the toasts were about to begin. Water glasses were filled at the start and never again. The mother of the bride had to step in to cut the wedding cake to serve the line of guests waiting. Her friends relieved her and eventually a staff person showed up. The food was ok. The room is nice.. If you decide to use the venue, have an back up plan for the lack of staff.. read more

We were so pleased with the venue and service at Orlando's on Watson. Our son and daughter-in-law had their wedding reception there in early September. I cannot say enough about how stress free the event was from the beginning planning stages to the actual event date. The room was beautiful, food was great, and the staff was wonderful. AMAZING is the word I would use to describe Orlando's on Watson. They did a terrific job and we couldn't have asked for anything more perfect! Mike was wonderful to work with and very considerate on all decisions to be made before we decided to book Orlando's. Drew took it from there and he was absolutely great to work with too. He is friendly, detail oriented, and very knowledgeable in planning receptions. Orlando's made the night worry free. The food was delicious, the room looked elegant and all the employees were very nice. They took care of everything, so being the mother and father of the bride, we had nothing to do but have a great time enjoying our daughter and new son-in-law's wedding reception. My husband and I were very happy with the service provided by Orlandos. The planning from the beginning was organized, convenient, and stress free. If I ever had a question and would call or email Mike or Drew, they would get back to me right away. Mike was also flexible on my wedding package and making payments. The reception went off without a hitch and I didn't feel one ounce of stress or concern that something wasn't going right. Chip, who was at my reception, ensured that every event (cake cutting, first dances, bouquet toss, etc.) all happened during the time it was supposed to. I felt confident that everything was going to go well with Chip there. The food was fantastic and the room we had our reception in was very nice and spacious. The looks on the outside of the building at the Watson location were very discerning for me, but I later realized that it doesn't do any justice to the well-equipped and maintained banquet rooms inside. If I were to plan another reception or event, I would definitely go back. read more
