I'm not sure what I expected as the class listed 9 pasta dishes to be made... A part of me expected to see a scene from The Muppets where the Swedish Chef wrestles with a plate of pasta before getting attacked by it. There were a dozen of us, all seated comfortably around the large kitchen island. The cooking facility was spacious, clean, and well organized- the perfect space for a large group to move freely and cook amongst each other. We were offered complimentary water, tea, and coffee throughout the class. Chef Christie was amazing! Her upbeat energy was a pleasure to be around and her instructions were clear and concise. Her friendly persona made it easy to ask questions. We learned to make basic, egg, and wheat dough and shaped them into spaghetti, fettuccine, cavatelli, and ravioli. We then made some classic sauces to go with them: Bolognese, puttanesca, bacon tomato, and caramelized onion cheese. In addition to that, we made a cheese tortellini soup, sausage tomato lasagna, seafood cannelloni with basil cream sauce, butternut agnolotti with sage butter, and a spinach ravioli with charred tomato sauce. OH. MY. LORD. Brains overloaded with info and bellies satisfied, we all took a nap when we got home. :]

We took a mixology class with Lorna, our first class post Pandemic, and we loved it! Lorna was so much fun and easy-going. She was knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions and also provided easy to follow instructions on how to build our own cocktails (mocktails, too!). Their website usually lists the current month and the next month. The classes cost about $100 each (some less, some more) and are limited to 16 people. There is usually one instructor and two assistants. They provide the mise en place, implements, and instruction. You receive a folio of recipes to take home. Over the course of the class you work together to cook the dishes. At the end of class you socialize and eat and you get to take leftovers home. It's a fun activity to do with friends, partners, colleagues, or family members. I have taken the scones class, the pie class, and the mole class. All were great. The studio is clean. The instruction is clear. It's just a fun experience.

And I paid a lot for this class so i was going to learn! But I did not. The revolt began and people just began cooking on their own (which in the end turned out quite well!!) just so we could eat at some point. We could hear the other class drinking wine and sitting down to eat, and our lasagna wasn't even in the oven yet. Another ominous sign. Our chef was very kind but it was clear he was not ready for this. It was my second and last visit to the KC, I walked away with no additional skills.
