This was my first year attending the Orlando Fringe Festival, and it was pretty cool. I didn't know what to expect fully, but I knew it would be immersive and eclectic. I went three separate days over a span of a week and each time was its own unique experience. There was a range of live entertainment, performing arts, art of all kinds, super dope poster art, magic performers, various food trucks, and other local shops and businesses that you could support. While the festival is free to the public, there are some events that have a small entry fee. All money is poured back into the arts/community to keep this wonderful festival alive and going for many years to come. The highlight indeed for me was all the art, of which you could also purchase. I loved that this festival allowed for artists and art lovers to congregate and enjoy the many forms of art in one space. Some final notes, they did offer drink options if that was something you were also looking for. There was a decent amount of parking - street, garage, and in the museum lot (if you arrived early). Everyone is super kind - down to the museum staff, food and business vendors, you name it. It's truly a great festival. Fun for all. So happy I finally got the chance to attend this festival. I had a great time watching the live shows. My favorite one was "STORIES FROM THE BRINK!" by Iris Bahr. I learned a lot, & it was touching. This festival is fantastic! You get to tap into your human side, practice mindfulness, absorb, then reflect on life on a deeper level. Sometimes they challenge my values, but it's a good exercise to think, & listen, consider others' experiences & viewpoints. You MUST purchase a button to watch a show in a theater. Then you buy your ticket to what you want to see. Sometimes a show might get cancelled, so this year I went with the flow & saw what was available at the time I was there. I kept recommended ages in mind. Then I ran from theater to theater. They utilize different buildings. There's an outdoor stage with free entertainment such as a break dancing contest or fashion show. It's next to the food booths. I've seen really wonderful shows over the years. Poe & Van Gogh are some of my favorite subjects. There's magic, comedy, & naughty bits. In the afternoon there are arts & crafts & kids' activities in certain areas. Something for everyone. Creatures of the night might enjoy shows that start around midnight. The only thing I would want changed is how the shows overlap each other. If I want to see one show, then I can't see 3 others because they have different running lengths & very odd start times. It's an extremely difficult puzzle challenge to line them up, almost impossible. That's why a few days attending Orlando Fringe is better than just one day, but parking can be challenging. I missed out on a lot of great shows probably. They can get expensive, so get a guide early, looks like a free magazine, & see when the $6 shows are, not all shows will offer that special price showing, but great if you snag one. The high school students' shows are around $10. Regular shows maybe $15. Some are FREE! Just don't lose your purchased Fringe button. read more

We came here to see our friends band play. I didn't realize that the festival goes on for 2 weeks. Back 10 years ago it was only a two-day event. I think they are celebrating 33 years. We spoke to the volunteers and they told us that you buy a button for $10 and then you pay for each show and it ranges from $6 to $15. We were running out of time so we didn't see any shows but will definitely come to this next year. It's located right by the Orlando science center and the Orlando Shakespeare theater. They have several theaters that you can go into to watch the shows a perfect way to beat the Florida heat. Yesterday was very hot. But we did okay under the shade trees. Parking is limited so get here early. For we were at they had music and several food trucks and a few vendors selling clothes and other items. I think it stays open late. It looks like the last show was around 9: 30 p.m.. They have a huge book that has all the shows and events and bands playing. I will definitely come to this next year. read more

Fringe is a delightfully eclectic art festival. I love it! There is a little bit of everything for everyone: concerts, plays, musicals, etc. Everything ranging from comedy to horror. Shows that are family-friendly and some that are for mature audiences only. You'll find something you'll like. Best of all, tickets are really affordable. Of course, there are multiple food and drinks vendors. I tried these great chips covered in cheese and brisket. Thankfully, none of the vendors overcharge. Btw, for those who gets sad when the festival is over, there is a mini Winter Fringe in December. 5 stars! read more

Thanks to yelp this is my first time experiencing the fringe festival. We got here early on a Sunday which was good for parking purposes. We grabbed our buttons than we sauntered over to check out all the food and beer/alcohol vendors. We got here about 30 mins before they opened so we were able to make an executive decision about food and secured a table in the beer tent before it opened. Best idea ever. We ordered a pitcher of a local IPA Ivanhoe Joyland for $32. Refills on the pitchers were $20 And you got to keep it as a fun souvenir! We also got 2 gyros. They were $9 a piece. The flavor wasn't really there and I was sad about that. Then we walked to the Orlando museum of art or the "gold venue" to see JunNk perform. These men are so talented. Their show is a mix between stomp and blue man group. They use regular "junk" to create music. There was audience participation, clapping, people who were pulled on stage, dancing, and it was so much fun!!! I don't want to spoil it. If you get a chance, you should show these guys some love. Loved the fringe festival and would love to go back next year and see some other unique acts and performances. read more

We had an awesome time at the Orlando Fringe Festival and shout out to Yelp for scoring my husband and I two free Fringe buttons! This was our first year attending so it can be quite overwhelming at first, but we got the hang of it quite quickly. Everyone working the event was super nice and the gentlemen who handed us our buttons even gave our daughter a beautiful Disney princess figurine. We started outside and tried out some food from the food trucks. The cheese curds and brisket nachos were our favorites. We also really enjoyed the live music under the tent. It was a mix between political/humor/racial divide. It really got you thinking. There was no photography or videotaping allowed, which sucked because her message was truly inspiring. My family and I had an amazing time at Fringe Festival and we can't wait to go back next year. Everyone was so friendly and inviting. I would've never knew this existed if it wasn't for Yelp! The attendees are chill and all seem excited to be there. The performers can be seen mingling and promoting their shows which I liked. We ended up seeing three different shows and all of them were stellar. There is a huge variety of shows to choose from so there is definitely something for everyone. Not every show is a winner, but it is so refreshing to see so many diverse performances, from comedy, to music, to theater, to games, and on and on. What an experience! I will definitely be a regular at Fringe in the coming years and cannot wait to take my kids to the Fringe Kids festival. I went to the Orlando Fringe Festival on May 19, 2019. Thank you to Yelp Orlando Elite Perk for the buttons. It's a 14 day arts festival with performances, music, food and drinks. It is May 14-May 27 and 100% of the sales are returned back to the artists. We saw "Infestation" and it was great! . The main festival is at Loch Haven Park and the performances take place in multiple locations. There's a Kids Fringe area too with free activities for kids. Fringe is such an Amazing TWO WEEK festival! I performed here years ago! And was so excited to come back! The Fringe festival is unlike anything I've ever been to and i couldn't wait to share it with my five year old daughter, who recently started her modeling and acting career. There's an amazing variety of shows to choose from, ranging from comedy, family friendly, adult only, drama, horror, etc. if you're a fan of the arts you'll definitely enjoy yourself! They always have really really good vendors and luckily most of them take credit cards. But if you happen to find one that doesn't, there is always an ATM or two on site! I personally love their annual poetry slam that takes place here every year! There's a lot of great talent that show up to share their amazing work! During this festival you get to see how the Orlando theater community and art community as a whole see each other as family! You get to enjoy local talent and just have an all around great time! read more

Thank you to Yelp for getting me and a friend into the Fringe Festival with complimentary Fringe buttons. I also purchased a Fringe button for another friend and gave a donation to the Fringe based on the generosity of Yelp. This was my first experience with the Fringe and it will NOT be my last. What a great way to experience plays, music, etc. by our local artists. The venues are easy to get to and the plays we saw were quite good. We wandered around the tent and food truck area and listened to some good music in the afternoon. We ran into a number of friends who were also attending the festival so it also makes for a great meeting spot. I can now see what everyone is talking about and I will be back. One minor item about the Yelp website on Saturday - when I went to post some pictures for the Fringe, the website stated the Fringe was "Closed Today" Obviously, the site had a little technical difficulty. :) read more

I am no longer a Fringe virgin! A big thank you to Yelp for passing out Fringe buttons. As I was standing in line to see my first Fringe show "Two Men Trapped in Women's Bodies," the gentleman in front of me stated that there are some shoes that will make you say "WTF did I just see." Well I actually experienced a "WTF did I just see" moment (it was not Two Women Trapped in Women's Bodies). Not only are tickets affordable, parking is free, you are experiencing the art culture but every volunteer that I came across was extremely nice and helpful. The best part, in my opinion, the Orlando Fringe is about supporting the local community. I will definitely attend the Fringe festival again next year. read more

Once again the Orlando fringe festival is amazing. An amazing variety of shows, great vendor tents, and so much more. On my first day of fringe I was able to see so many great people out and about on the lawn, and also see three shows. I arrived at 6:00 Pm and was done by 10:30 (although I stayed until 12:30 for drinks). Where else in even the southern states can you get so much bang for your buck? Make sure to bring cash for your beer and liquor tickets, but besides that you can buy most food with a credit card. (ATMs are available on the lawn) Make sure you try the cheese curds. They are to die for! Also make sure to check out the poetry vending machine on the lawn. You won't find anything else quite like it! This fringe festival is an amazing representation of the theater community, which in many ways is the heart of downtown Orlando. You will find so many people that bring the arts and culture to Orlando that has made it a place not to miss. read more

This event was fun free and full of good food. We walked around the free area because all the shows seem to be very full. We watched the singers in the outside performance Area. They were very talented. Especially the singer named Michelle, I don't remember her last name. But I will say her music had deeper messages then a lot of other songs I've heard. Her performance was funny political and made you really think. You really caught the spirit of fringe while watching her performance. And of course all the food trucks had amazing food choices. I tried the cheese curds and they were really good nice and fresh. But my number one item that I bought was the kettle chips that have beef brisket on top and cheese. The taste of it was just fresh and yummy. All in all this was a fun event. I got to expand my horizons well hanging out with friends and eating good food. read more

Orlando Fringe is unlike anything else in town. The festival brings international, national and provides a stage for local artists to show their stuff. After buying a button to get in for the duration of the festival, shows are generally around $10 each, and you're encouraged to try a few to see what you like and get some new experiences. Think of it as dim sum of the arts - music, theatre, clowning, dance, storytelling, poetry - it's all on the menu. The festival doesn't censor or curate acts, so it's a bit of a grab bag as to what's being performed. Bring a friend, grab a beer on the festival lawn and chat up some other patrons and artists hanging out there... find out what's amazing this year as well as any bad eggs. Orlando Fringe is an event that happens every year. It's a two week long event of artist performing whatever it may be: singing, story telling, acting, comedy, horror, etc. I had the luxury of getting two free fringe buttons from Yelp. I did not have any problems picking up my buttons. You have to have a button to attend the festival as a whole but you have to have a ticket to see majority of the shows. The money spent goes directly towards the artists. We saw the 12am cabaret. I'm not sure what the title of the show had to do with the actual show. There were a couple musical sets, comedy, people talking about their personal lives, etc. I thought a couple sets were interesting, some were extremely weird, and some were disturbing to me. I give fringe a 3/5 because the overall event was just not for us. We wouldn't go again unfortunately. I know lots of people love going and that's why I can't knock it more. You might really enjoy going. There's many shows to choose from, all day and night! There was even an outside bar set up, with food trucks and some seating. read more

Had a wonderful time at my first Orlando Fringe Festival!! So far, have watched two shows: Mo'Manada and the Rocky Horror Pole Show. The fringe festival lawn area had lots of food vendors and drink tents (bring cash though!). Our two shows were both at the Orlando Shakespeare theatre. The venue was appropriate, clean, everyone was crazy friendly. The shows were interesting! Mo'manada is a candadian male burlesque show, and Rocky Horror Pole show is a womens' pole dancing/rocky horror picture show. I'm glad I checked it out and cant wait to watch more shows this week! read more

Do you even Fringe bro!!!! I cannot express the amount of love I have for this event. Its a beautiful ensemble of the theatre talent and admirers from all over the world. The plays range from a wide variety and are cost of 12 to 0 dollars. We went for the play called "High Tea", which is a british act of two friends going an a quite creative adventure. The bonkers part about it is that you can expect yourself to be includes in that adventure as well . I wont say more, just that you have to definitely try it. We will be trying few other acts as well throughout the fest and I will update my review as such. Also, there is a beer tent, umm hello, a BEER TENT AT A THEATRE FESTIVAL, what are you doing still reading my review, just go buy the ticket already. Literally the best thing that happens in Orlando all year. International talent, music out at the beer tent. I have seen the best theater at the Fringe that I have seen anywhere (I include Broadway and the Orlando Broadway series) and much more interesting and diverse theater than elsewhere. I wait all year for this and have trouble respecting Orlandians who don't go--it's edgy, it's International, it's smart. It ain't Disney. read more

Oh Fringe. It's definitely an experience. I like the addition of Kids Fringe, but I am still shocked at some of the shows they admitted children for. those age restrictions don't seem to be enforced. The Orlando International Fringe Festival should be on everybody's "must-do" list of events in the O-Town area. Whether it's Mini Fringe in the winter, International Fringe in the spring, or if you have the chance, a Fringe Festival held in a different city/country, I would urge you to go. The shows are awesome, the food is great, and the people are friendly and fabulous! While the Fringe Festival itself is a wonderful thing, the show I saw last night was awful. I went to see Dammit Jim, I'm a Comedienne, Not a Doctor. The write-up was enticing leading me to believe it was a story of life somehow combined with Star Trek. What it turned out to be was a miserable story about growing up in a dysfunctional, abusive family, escaping to marry a dysfunctional, abusive husband, and becoming an alcoholic. And oh by the way, I got interested in Star Trek and went to a convention and had fun. The play was a complete waste of money. Avoid it at all costs. The Fringe Festival itself is a great thing. The shows are hit or miss. This show would get minus stars of I could rate it. The Fringe gets 4 stars. read more

Well where should I start. I purchased tickets for Thrones Orlando it just so happens that I was 2 mins late standing at the door at 10:17. Prior to getting to the door 2 mins late the 2 women by the front made us purchase a pin for $10each to support for the fringe said we couldn't watch the show with out it. Instead of informing us that "if we were late" even a min we would be able to enter the show. A bit dissapointed with the whole situation a had blown a tired prior to getting there and well it just made the situation even worse to arrive and receive such hostility. Only reason I added 1 more star is due to the fact that she was kind enough to refund us our money for the button. read more

A friend asked me to join her for a show that her friend was performing in, I had not been to fringe before but decided why not and my question is why not have I been before? I invited 3 of my friends to join and we had a blast! Really enjoyed the event, the show was great, we enjoyed a free stage show after with a cocktail or several outside in the "beer garden", going to more shows this eve and plan to attend even more later in the week.
