5 Stars for an annual theater and love performance festival that makes me love Orlando even more! I can't believe I haven't left some virtual love on here for a Orlando Fringe! If you don't know about Fringe, definitely check out their website and read all about this international festival. In Orlando's Fringe festival, we get an array of local and international talent coming through for a week of performances in multiple theaters and venues. Beyond the shows, Orlando Fringe has expanded with an amazing outdoor presence including live music stages, beer tents, and tons of food and art. It is a feast for all of your senses! Wondering how to Fringe? You need to buy a Fringe button and then you have access to buy tickets to any show throughout the festival. I recommend checking out the schedule while looking at the accompanying Orlando Weekly issue (that comes out before Fringe) to pick shows based on your preferences. Some are family-friendly, some are NSFW, but all are a blast! Beyond the festival itself, Fringe hosts events all year, including Fab Fringe, which usually highlights a Fringe favorite show with options for VIP F&B areas. Highly recommend you check our Fringe when it comes back around (usually in May).

Many, many shows

Fringe is a delightfully eclectic art festival. I love it! There is a little bit of everything for everyone: concerts, plays, musicals, etc. Everything ranging from comedy to horror. Shows that are family-friendly and some that are for mature audiences only. You'll find something you'll like. Best of all, tickets are really affordable. Of course, there are multiple food and drinks vendors. I tried these great chips covered in cheese and brisket. Thankfully, none of the vendors overcharge. Btw, for those who gets sad when the festival is over, there is a mini Winter Fringe in December. 5 stars!

Gyro $9. Wasn't that great.

Thanks to yelp this is my first time experiencing the fringe festival. We got here early on a Sunday which was good for parking purposes. We grabbed our buttons than we sauntered over to check out all the food and beer/alcohol vendors. We got here about 30 mins before they opened so we were able to make an executive decision about food and secured a table in the beer tent before it opened. Best idea ever. We ordered a pitcher of a local IPA Ivanhoe Joyland for $32. Refills on the pitchers were $20 And you got to keep it as a fun souvenir! We also got 2 gyros. They were $9 a piece. The flavor wasn't really there and I was sad about that. Then we walked to the Orlando museum of art or the "gold venue" to see JunNk perform. These men are so talented. Their show is a mix between stomp and blue man group. They use regular "junk" to create music. There was audience participation, clapping, people who were pulled on stage, dancing, and it was so much fun!!! I don't want to spoil it. If you get a chance, you should show these guys some love. Loved the fringe festival and would love to go back next year and see some other unique acts and performances.

We had an awesome time at the Orlando Fringe Festival and shout out to Yelp for scoring my husband and I two free Fringe buttons! This was our first year attending so it can be quite overwhelming at first, but we got the hang of it quite quickly. Everyone working the event was super nice and the gentlemen who handed us our buttons even gave our daughter a beautiful Disney princess figurine. We started outside and tried out some food from the food trucks. The cheese curds and brisket nachos were our favorites. We also really enjoyed the live music under the tent. It was a mix between political/humor/racial divide. It really got you thinking. There was no photography or videotaping allowed, which sucked because her message was truly inspiring. My family and I had an amazing time at Fringe Festival and we can't wait to go back next year. Everyone was so friendly and inviting. I would've never knew this existed if it wasn't for Yelp! Thank you Andi and the Yelp community for the opportunity!!

I loved this saying.

Thank you to Yelp for hooking my boyfriend and I up with buttons to attend Fringe! This was my first year attending and it was a great time. The atmosphere itself is really nice. The attendees are chill and all seem excited to be there. The performers can be seen mingling and promoting their shows which I liked. We ended up seeing three different shows and all of them were stellar. There is a huge variety of shows to choose from so there is definitely something for everyone. I will definitely return next year!

Fringe is such an Amazing TWO WEEK festival! I performed here years ago! And was so excited to come back! The Fringe festival is unlike anything I've ever been to and i couldn't wait to share it with my five year old daughter, who recently started her modeling and acting career. There's an amazing variety of shows to choose from, ranging from comedy, family friendly, adult only, drama, horror, etc. if you're a fan of the arts you'll definitely enjoy yourself! They always have really really good vendors and luckily most of them take credit cards. But if you happen to find one that doesn't, there is always an ATM or two on site! I personally love their annual poetry slam that takes place here every year! There's a lot of great talent that show up to share their amazing work! During this festival you get to see how the Orlando theater community and art community as a whole see each other as family! You get to enjoy local talent and just have an all around great time!

Thank you to Yelp for getting me and a friend into the Fringe Festival with complimentary Fringe buttons. I also purchased a Fringe button for another friend and gave a donation to the Fringe based on the generosity of Yelp. This was my first experience with the Fringe and it will NOT be my last. What a great way to experience plays, music, etc. by our local artists. The venues are easy to get to and the plays we saw were quite good. We wandered around the tent and food truck area and listened to some good music in the afternoon. We ran into a number of friends who were also attending the festival so it also makes for a great meeting spot. I can now see what everyone is talking about and I will be back. One minor item about the Yelp website on Saturday - when I went to post some pictures for the Fringe, the website stated the Fringe was "Closed Today" Obviously, the site had a little technical difficulty. :)

Free awesome music! We had a great time. There were also vendors with street food. We'll definitely come back in the future!

Orlando Fringe time is some of my favorite days living in Orlando! Orlando Fringe is a 12day theater festival bring performing artists who are local, national and international. The shows presented can really span all types of performance. Comedy, drama, original works, dance, performance art, musical acts and more! In addition there is Kids Fringe held on the weekends free for young and young at heart and Visual Fringe art work on display and for sale by amazing artists.

Once again the Orlando fringe festival is amazing. An amazing variety of shows, great vendor tents, and so much more. On my first day of fringe I was able to see so many great people out and about on the lawn, and also see three shows. I arrived at 6:00 Pm and was done by 10:30 (although I stayed until 12:30 for drinks). Where else in even the southern states can you get so much bang for your buck? Make sure to bring cash for your beer and liquor tickets, but besides that you can buy most food with a credit card. (ATMs are available on the lawn) Make sure you try the cheese curds. They are to die for! Also make sure to check out the poetry vending machine on the lawn. You won't find anything else quite like it! This fringe festival is an amazing representation of the theater community, which in many ways is the heart of downtown Orlando. You will find so many people that bring the arts and culture to Orlando that has made it a place not to miss.

Brisket kettle chips was huge.... Had tons of meat and lots of chips

This event was fun free and full of good food. We walked around the free area because all the shows seem to be very full. We watched the singers in the outside performance Area. They were very talented. Especially the singer named Michelle, I don't remember her last name. But I will say her music had deeper messages then a lot of other songs I've heard. Her performance was funny political and made you really think. You really caught the spirit of fringe while watching her performance. And of course all the food trucks had amazing food choices. I tried the cheese curds and they were really good nice and fresh. But my number one item that I bought was the kettle chips that have beef brisket on top and cheese. The taste of it was just fresh and yummy. All in all this was a fun event. I got to expand my horizons well hanging out with friends and eating good food.

It's a short walk from several restaurants and bars so you can park in one of the large parking lots. I loved the sitting area in the lobby. Intimate seating behind large picture windows. This production delivers a level of entertainment that surpasses anything I've seen at Dr. Phillips. The show transports you to a time when confidence felt earned, ambition was fueled by self‑belief, and the dream of success pulsed through every city street. Three cousins reunite unexpectedly in 1970s New York City, each chasing their shot at rhythm‑and‑blues stardom. Having been in NYC during that era myself, the musical stirred memories of a time when music wasn't designed to shock--it was meant to lift the spirit, soothe the soul, and move you from the inside out. This show captures that perfectly. From the moment the curtain rises, the audience is swept into a world that never disappoints. By the end of the evening, you realize you've been entertained more deeply than any amusement park or theater in the region could ever promise. If the spirit of James Brown, Otis Redding, or Jackie Wilson can be felt anywhere today, it's on this stage. Absolutely loved it.

April 24th, 2026 The Merry Widow…read more If you think opera is boring, elitist, outdated, or only for wealthy people over the age of seventy, Opera Orlando's production of The Merry Widow would probably shock you. After seeing The Merry Widow at Steinmetz Hall inside the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Orlando, I walked out realizing how disconnected modern culture has become from experiences that genuinely move people emotionally, intellectually, and culturally all at the same time. For a few hours, the outside world disappeared. Hundreds of strangers sat together fully immersed in music, storytelling, humor, romance, longing, heartbreak, orchestral beauty, and live human performance all at the same time, and the emotional atmosphere inside the theater was impossible not to feel. There is something incredibly powerful about watching a live performance unfold in real time knowing that every note, every movement, and every emotional moment is happening right there in front of you without a screen filtering the experience. The performances were extraordinary across the board. The humor was sharp, playful, and incredibly entertaining, the chemistry between the performers felt believable and emotionally alive, and the music swept through Steinmetz Hall with a richness and sophistication that modern entertainment rarely achieves anymore. The entire production transported the audience into another emotional pace of life entirely, which may explain why The Merry Widow has remained beloved for more than a century since premiering in Vienna in 1905 during the final years of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Honestly, The Merry Widow may now be my favorite opera I have ever seen, even above Aida and La Traviata, largely because it is far more emotionally accessible. Many operas can initially feel intimidating or emotionally dense for newcomers, but The Merry Widow is surprisingly easy to connect with. The story is simple to follow, the characters feel human and relatable, and the themes of love, pride, jealousy, money, romance, ego, status, and emotional vulnerability remain timeless regardless of what century you are living in. One of the biggest misconceptions surrounding opera is the belief that people will not "understand it," but we now live in an era where that excuse no longer really holds up. Someone can literally sit down with a********l i**********e beforehand and sift through hundreds or even thousands of years of history, culture, symbolism, music, politics, quickly ... in order to understand what they are about to experience BEFORE ever stepping inside the theater. Opera deserves far more attention from younger generations than it currently receives because this art form connects people to centuries of cultural history, music, storytelling, romance, humor, beauty, and emotional depth in a way very few modern experiences still can. Watching The Merry Widow made it obvious that opera is not some dead relic from the past. When performed at this level, it still feels emotionally alive, entertaining, funny, moving, and incredibly human. This audience @ Opera Orlando is overwhelmingly older.... which says less about opera itself and more about how culturally disconnected younger audiences have become from experiences like this. Many people assume opera is elitist, inaccessible, expensive, or simply "not for them" without ever giving it a chance. Opera Orlando is actively trying to change that through affordable tickets and student rush programs, and honestly, there are no excuses anymore. If you want to experience opera for yourself, visit https://operaorlando.org or https://drphillipscenter.org and look for student rush tickets, discounted seats, and upcoming productions. PS: I don't work for the opera .. I'm just a spectator / observer / guest

I love how beautiful the stairwell is going up to two. I love how much they have expanded their food and beverage line up over the years. The sound tends to be pretty good, the communication from the theatre is always amazing. They waive fees if you come to the box office to buy your tickets. The seats are comfy and almost every seat has a solid view. The box seats are the exception so be warned. The volunteers are always amazing and they are so nice. It would be cool if they opened a second location that served coffee because that line for espresso beverages is always really long. I love the breadth of show types. There's always something for everyone.
