I have missed 2 days of work for nothing. No one came, no one called and have tried 4 days in a row to have a manager call me back. They set traps in the attic and haven't come back and scheduled spraying for bees and a straight no show. I plugged all the holes and bought all the supplies to catch the mice. Would not recommend. I spent $5000 dollars to have Orkin clean out my attic, replace insulation and seal up any entry points that mice were coming in. I was told a manager would come out to inspect the work within 2 weeks and it took me MONTHS to get a manager here. He finally came and said it looks like they did a good job and he sees no evidence of current activity in the attic. I told him thats impossible because I still hear the scurrying every night in my ceiling, in fact it's so bad it wakes me and my kids up. He assured me they guarantee their work as did another colleague of his. Despite this both employees have been ignoring my calls and texts to come back and help. The Orkin branch in northeast Massachusetts is most disfunctional and indifferent to its patrons. They seldom notify customers of service until two days (sometimes fewer) before the scheduled tech visit. If you call to reschedule, as I did toward the end of September, they tell you that they can't schedule you into the next month. If you do reschedule and the tech doesn't show up, as happened to me, good luck getting through to them to reschedule again. If you ask to speak with a supervisor when you call, you're told that the supervisor can't be reached, so leave your name and phone number and someone will return the call within 24 to 48 hours -- and sometimes no one calls back. How is this even service?! And that quite ignores the fact that, as in my most recent experience, if you are put on hold, the system hangs up on you and you have to begin all over with someone else. I feel sorry for the young women who are the front line on the phone system -- they apologize for the inconvenience but are totally powerless to do anything. The apologies are hollow. I called to have them come out same day and treat a rodent issue and the main number signed me up, sends me out a contract and promises me timeframe for service to come out and even takes a credit card. Shortly after I get a call from some rude woman in the local Hingham office that the main number doesnt control scheduling and they cant have someone out till next week?? I called and cancelled my contract immediately and went with Terminix. This company over promisese and from what I am reading on their reviews, is not the place you want to do business with anyway. The service Orkin provided in my house for mouse control was absolutely horrible. All they did was put out three mouse traps. They did not plug any holes, leave any bait traps or do any sort of mouse proofing. They were here for about 5 minutes. I have been calling for weeks and weeks now asking for a refund which they still have not processed. Waste of money and horrible customer service. read more

Called Orkin about ants and mice troubles. Orkin diagnosed the ants as carpenter ants during in-person inspection. When the technician ultimately came during second month of services, he rediagnosed the ants as pavement ants. After ~8 months of services, we still had ants and still had mice. Very expensive, with no bang for the buck. Do not recommend. read more

I scheduled an appointment with Orkin for between 12 and 2:00 today. No one showed up, no phone call. I called the local branch and it was closed (Saturday). I called the emergency number and was disconnected twice. On my third try, I got a rep who also tried to call the local branch and could not reach them. So Orkin is supposed to call me back to resolve this because that's exactly what I really want, to waste more time yakking with Orkin on the phone while nothing gets done. Called to get a quote for a mouse issue. They answered immediately. However, once they've talked with you and you're considered a client, they do not respond to your calls. Impossible to reach. Had to use a different phone and say i was looking for a new quote in order to speak to someone to cancel my services. They are disorganized and impersonal and so big that no one takes responsibility for the poor service. Also expensive and try to up your service plan and cost. Customers beware when they tell you they come right out to remove anything caught in traps. just canceled my contract to renew for 2024. I had a mouse caught on one of their traps yesterday in the kitchen under stove. I called and was told a technician would come the next day. Today they called to tell me the technician can't come until August 15th!!! That's a long time to leave a dead mouse in the kitchen especially in the summer. This is not the first time this has happened luckily I was able to get a family member to come over and remove as I have a phobia of mice. They said ok that I could do a one time service with a 30 day followup and set up an appointment for this morning. Where is the option for 0 stars? Terrible experience. We had someone come out after identifying some pests. He came out and confirmed that we saw what we saw. He had no answers for the actual service, cost, whether it was safe for our pet or warranty on the work. "The service technician will know the answer to that." We called because we never heard from the service technician. Three business days later, we called them and were told, "He is out in the field but will call you back to answer your questions and schedule a time for treatment." No call back, no answers, nothing. The company did not show up on the day they were supposed too. They apologized, and we made an appointment for the following week. The technician, Chris, who is also the service manager, came out the following week. Once he was in our kitchen, he told us that he did not want to honor the price/plan we were given over the phone. He could clearly see what we signed up for, but he did not want to honor it. We were supposed to pay $50 (discounted first month for no show), then $150 per quarter. I was told that would be 4 months of service for $200, which is the same as $50 a month. Chris said he had a better plan, for $100/month. We have ants in our kitchen, it isn't a year long problem...this was told to them upfront. After a 5 minute discussion, and writing it out for him on paper, he finally agreed that his "better offer" is actually double than what was offered and in the system. I have been lied to by the Orkin rep who told me it was against the law for him to get behind the stove to put down or replace the traps placed there by a former Orikin worker. I knew it was not against the law and I am 80 years old. Can easily pull out the stove. I was also disappointed as he had repeatedly just handed me those sticky sheets rather than setting out more mouse traps. I had also called to get the carpenter ants exterminated which the woman said they'd do. He told me before I showed him the door that such took another separate contract, yet she had agreed to pass this on to him. If I could give the Hingham Orkin site 0 stars I would. They were scheduled and confirmed for a 10 am - 12 noon arrival time at my home, but showed up an hour early, at 9 am, without prior notice. I checked and saw the technicians on the front steps through a window. We're retired - I was just out of bed getting ready and dressed for the 10 am - 12 noon window when I heard the doorbell ringing and ringing and ringing at 9 am. The technicians were so impatient that they just rang and rang without waiting for anyone to answer. When I called through the window, a technician said "We're a little early." When I told him he was an hour early and would need to wait until I got dressed, he just shrugged and said he needed to begin work. When I told him I was not yet dressed, he just shrugged again. My husband had to get up and talk to them. I called the home office to complain that coming an hour early without notice is as obnoxious as coming an hour late without notice. I cancelled the service and refused to pay. If they won't cooperate on an arrival time and will not cooperate when the customer states that she needs to get dresses, then it's not likely that they'll cooperate with any special needs or circumstances when onsite and working. read more

One star only so I can record complaint. Simply go elsewhere, anywhere else. 4 times I waited and they never showed. Just a text an hour after their arrival window that they had to reschedule. One time the excuse was tech had wrong chemicals. We had moths and they scheduled for ants. On the times it was successful, each tech did a different treatment. On one occasion I had to reschedule abd they insisted they were doing "timed treatments and couldn't guarantee effectiveness ". I laughed and reminded her that it has taken 8 months to do 3 different things because of their poor communication and lack of follow through, her statement was ridiculous. The last time I got the same cycle; 10-12 arrival time. Then a text they would come the following Saturday 10-12. No consideration of my time. The following Saturday (last week), I got a call at 7 am asking why I wasn't there to let them in!!! I told him we were going elsewhere and I did not want any manager to resolve anything. I hired them to spray for mosquitoes. The first treatment was not effective at all. I waited two weeks and called them to come back. It took another week for them to come out and spray again. They charged me for the second treatment. It's been two weeks and I have notice little, to no, change. Their moto is "100% Satisfaction Guaranteed." I am still not happy. I would not recommend them for mosquito control at all. There are plenty of other companies that do a better job (more effective) and charge much less. read more

Do not use this company! It's a money grab with little to no service. They did not take care of my insect issues nor did they provide adequate service. They sprayed around the outside of the house, put some cardboard inside, put some gel in the corners and called it a day. I was told I could call to get a re-spray and I was denied that service. Don't bother making appointments through the website because that doesn't work. Also they send you emails saying they are rescheduling your service but don't actually reschedule. If you call about the issues, they could care less and don't rectify the issue. Cost was $370 up front then $105in 30 days, then $105 every 2 months. It's a contract for one year as well. They called me and canceled and tryed to change the date of the appointment on the date of the appointment, after being scheduled for weeks in advance. my tenants had change their work schedule to be home for the appointment and all got upset because this companny was the second Company to cancel on the same date Of the appointment. The Orkin team rid our home of a major rat infestation caused by a nearby sewer construction project recently. I previously had another exterminator (who shall remain nameless) recommend and complete some unnecessary service under my subfloor, which I believed to be infested with both live and dead rats. The smell in our house was unbearable and was not helped by this exterminator's $500 cleaning. My wife and I feared for our health as the smell got progressively worse and spread further into our home. The other exterminator insisted there were no dead rats and that the smell was caused by the general rat activity under the floor. They advised us to wait for the disinfectant to break down the bacteria and kept pushing a $3,600 exclusion job that I felt was unnecessary. Fed up with this other exterminator's poor work and lack of follow up, I called Orkin hoping that a nationally recognized company could help (despite a lack of good Yelp reviews). I'm very glad I made that call. A real, knowledgeable person answered phone and the inspector came out the next day. The inspector was compassionate and excellent overall. Sensing our desperation and concern for our health, he got a commitment from the service team to come out the next day- amazing! The team arrived the next day in full force. They pulled out the plywood and insulation to find 16- that's right- 16 DEAD RATS, feces and urine in the area under the floor- TOTAL RATAPOCALYPSE. The rats were at all different stages of decomposition and I heard that a couple techs vomited from the smell (I can't even imagine how foul it was). Despite these nightmarish conditions, the techs persevered and, many hours later, had the entire area cleaned out, disinfected, and re-insulated. This is not to mention that they also did exclusion work to help ensure this wouldn't happen again and added bait traps. Our home is now rat stench free and healthy again for our family. I was pleasantly surprised to get such local, personalized service from a national company. The team that worked on this disgusting project is certainly in need of recognition by Orkin for their dedication, professionalism and pride in their work. I cannot thank them enough. read more

Horrible! We had Orkin for the past 2 years. They would come treat the house for 15-20 minutes, give me excuses as to why they could not go into the attic and then leave. I called a few times when I saw many carpenter ants. They were prompt in coming out but then treated me like a "crazy lady" that was freaking out over a few ants. They assured me there was no frass so it was just a few stray ants and not to be concerned. Fast forward to a month after their "preventative" treatment, ants crawling up under my shingles and extensive carpenter ant damage. I had used Orkin for mouse control only and they turned up one day without an appointment and while there was no one at home and sprayed the exterior of my home with insecticide. I am against the use of herbicides, pesticides and especially insecticides. I keep honey bees and LOVE spiders. I spent the winter making sure I didn't remove any spider cocoons or webs. Orkin came in unannounced and applied an insecticide. After phone calls with them they advised the insecticide would not just wash away with a hose and a residue would remain. It turned out that I had signed a contract with LOADS of small print that gave them authority to do as they pleased. READ the small print is all I can say read more
