I called for inspection and remedy of a possible animal problem somewhere in my crawlspace area and I ended the appointment with an estimate that rivals that of a home remodel! Lowest quote $5k+ up to $22k and some depending on how much we wanted to do. I paid less than that to replace my whole roof/gutters a year ago! The upselling with huge markeup on work that isn't their field (insulation, moisture remediation, roofing) is out of this world. They also greatly exaggerate the issue making you feel like you have no choice but get it done (thanks Chat GPT for pointing the discrepancies in their "report") They propose payment plans lasting as long as car loans (60 months) with an interest rate of a credit card (vs the 2- 5% you get for a new car loan these days with excellent credit) that would rival the monthly payment of a 30 year home mortgage! If i want someone to advise me about insulation I ll call an insulation professional, the same ones the Orkin sales guy tried to convince us they did a bad job and were lazy to not place insulation in a specific area (that the professionals advised against as it could have resulted in frozen pipes), and If I need moisture remedy in my crawlspace I ll call a professional for that as well. I ended up calling a local company and they solved our issue for a low 3 digits amount. Also it turns out that my attic is fine, my insulation is good as new (we got some added in 2022) and my crawlspace isn't ripe with mold either though there is a small area where it is recommended we replace it. Less than one star They scammed us with all kinds of services, but worst part is a fake payment plan agreement that we never signed or agreed to. It took many weeks to get out of and lawyer had to get involved. They did the same exact thing with another close friend. If I could give them 0 stars I would. Orkin no call no showed our appointment even though we had a confirmation email. When I called, they said they didn't have us in the system. Keep in mind somebody has to be home, so one of us has to take off of work. Completely wasted our day. Today again, we had an appointment in the 10-12 time slot. At 11:54 I decided to call since nobody had come yet. They did not know what happened. After 12 they called us back and said that the technician is backed up. Again, wasted taking a day off of work. The customer service is so unprofessional and they do not respect your time or money. Not only do they not respect your time or money, their service also sucks. We're on a quarterly program with them and they still haven't solved the problem! I will never use Orkin or recommend them to anybody ever again. Instead check out Big Foot Pest Control. I find the one-star reviews baffling! I worked with the Crystal Lake location and they were fantastic! Expensive??? ABSOLUTELY. Although I would rather pay more for excellent customer service and I definitely got it. I had a problem with spiders, which caused me to contact Orkin. I also wanted them to check out my basement because I noticed that some insulation was moved, and not by us. Not only did they get rid of the spiders, but a thorough inspection was done on the basement which reflected a severe mice infestation that we were completely unaware of. No rodents were ever seen- alive or dead- but the pictures, which were obviously my home and not faked in order to inflate my bill, showed a major problem that needed remediation. Although the initial appointment was a month after my inspection, they were able to get me in much sooner. Four guys showed up and spent 7 hours to remove insulation, guard against mice, clean, and put new insulation in. Again, although this was an expensive job, they were great!! I am very happy with my experience despite the situation being super gross. read more

Called Orkin and asked if they could handle a squirrel issue in an attic. They informed me they did and scheduled a technician to come out. A technician/inspector showed up looked in my attic informed me they didn't do that type of removal. Instead he provided me with a quote for $12,000 to insulate my attic, add gutter guards, seal my foundation and fix entry points in my roof. This was a complete sales pitch... not appreciated. He referred me to a wild life removal company...which is turning out to be another issue... read more

I usually feel bad when I right a negative review to warn the public but right now I just feel angry. After paying $300 for a wasp treatment when I moved into a new house that had wasps flying around the dog door and front door, I also signed up for the maintenance program. Two days later I had two, then 4 wasps inside my house on a window! Then I noticed an active nest between my screen and window by the shower and another nest in another window! And this is after the guy just supposedly treated all of my windows for wasps. The nests were quite obvious. I don't know how he could have looked at the windows without seeing active wasp nest there. I bought the spray and I sprayed the windows and they died and they didn't come back. I called Orkin to tell them I wanted my money back and they offered to send the guy out to take a look so I agreed. When he came he kept saying, "okay"? As I told my wasp story as in, why was I making such a big deal of it? He also said , "Its not my fault if you have holes in your house". I said "oh really? Because the wasps haven't returned since I sprayed them", and they still haven't a month later. And then he said, "well I could spray around I guess but since you've already sprayed...", I said "don't worry about it. And cancel my service". I called up there and left a message and told the story THREE TIMES waitingnseveral days in between for a return call. When i finally reached a person, she said all the right things and said she would pass the information onto her manager and hed get back to me within 24 to 48 hours. I said "I wanted my money back and cancel my service". now it's been at least 10 days since I talked to her and I just received an email from the manager who said only this, "I can send somebody out to take a look at your situation"! Obviously they dont care about one star reviews and TERRIBLE customer service. There are other companies out there offering to include the bug spray AND the wasp treatment offering less money than Orkin charges for just one or the other. Signed a contract for almost 8,000 for mice control in my basement and I have caught 5 mice since then. Orkin was scheduled to come out for a follow up and never showed up or called. I called 3 times and was told service man would be over in a few minutes and never showed up. Never called me the next day to reschedule. I called again on Monday, and they never returned my calls. Looking to get rid of them. They talk a good story to sell you a contract and then lie and don't honor their contract. WOULD not recommend using them and I will cancel my other services. read more

Wish I could give this company an actual review on their service but well, they completely blew off my scheduled appointment and never showed up. I am 9 months pregnant and called with evidence of a mouse in the kitchen (droppings, a chewed up bag, etc) first thing in the morning (around 8 AM). I was scheduled for later that day, for a 4 - 6 PM appointment. Not only did I leave work early to accommodate this appointment time, I sat and waited...and waited...and waited. Finally, at about 5:50 PM, I received a call from Matt (I believe). He was still at the previous job and wanted to reschedule for the same time another day this week. Unfortunately, I am unable to leave work early twice in a row to accommodate Orkin (even though I'm the paying customer - shouldn't they be trying to accommodate ME?!) due to some executives from my company in town this week. His next offer was Saturday - Meanwhile, it's Tuesday evening. So I'm supposed to sit with a rodent in my home for the next 4 days? Absolutely not. To clarify, I asked if there was any possibility of him coming out tonight - He confirmed no, because then he wouldn't be out until 7 or 7:30. I voiced my displeasure and he made mention of Orkin being short-staffed and the schedulers putting too much on his schedule. Their dysfunction is NOT my problem and certainly doesn't take care of the mouse issue - Again, they had all day to review the schedule, find another technician to fill in, or contact me to rearrange things BEFORE I left work early. Thanks for absolutely nothing, zero help, and probably some of the worst communication I have ever dealt with from a company. You had all day to contact me and rearrange things and waited until ten minutes before the end of my appointment window, after I had already left work early and been waiting. Then, you assumed MY schedule could accommodate YOU - when it should be the opposite - and that I had flexibility to reschedule my appointment this week, when in fact I do not. Don't waste your time with these people like I did. They clearly couldn't care less about customers and, at 9 months pregnant, now I have to call around, find someone else (because I sure as heck am not giving this company my business now), and hope that this is all taken care of BEFORE I go into labor and bring my newborn home - Thanks, Orkin! ~ read more

This is not an honest company at all. We've been having some bug problems and I called around to OVER 15 companies getting quotes!!! I called Orkin got a quote asked when they had availability they didn't have availability when I needed them I never made an appointment. They never came to my home!! They keep sending me bills for $95 saying that they came to my home when they didn't. When I called to resolve the issue the lady told me that they even had a time chart saying that they were at my house which means there is no honesty, somebody is lying somewhere. I had a different company come to my home and treat the bug problem why would I hire two companies? I've called and left a voicemail after voicemail with no response. I finally got through to someone a couple days ago her name started with an M I was on the phone with her for over 20 minutes hearing her baby scream and cry in the background and then I was rudely hung up on and nobody called me back. The absolute worst company to deal with start to finish. Took over a month to a receipt and it took more work on my end, than theirs to make sure that got done. Further, they didn't seem to know where my payment was. Had to contact my bank for confirmation that payment had been received on their end. At one point they want me to stop the payment (even though they already accepted it from my account) and submit a new payment (which then would have been past the payment deadline). Keep ALL documentation when dealing with this company. They will not respond when you try to reach out, so your payment could easily be late just because of their lack of communication. Awful experience front to back. Each person that came out in 3 separate appointments all quoted different amounts. Went from 1000 dollar estimate, to nearly 4 thousand, to the most recent guy who said it could have been done for 800. The guy I signed the contract was clearly no more than pushy salesman who ignored any billing question I asked so he could get the cost to over 1000 and collect a bonus on the interest. Funny this is, i told him 3 times I will be paying in full, which became more confusing when he checked my credit score and asked for a personal reference. WHY? I said I was going to pay in full, why the hell would you need to run my credit. And why a personal reference? I'm getting mice removed, not applying for a job at Orkin. It was clearly just to get a lead for a new customer. Tell me, if I had declined to give a reference (which I tried to do but was told he couldn't complete the contract without it), would you not have removed the mice from my home? All they care about is ripping people off. After a final total of 1288, with the problem not even totally resolved unless I cough up another 2500 for an Orkin shield, I would never use Orkin again. read more

Excellent service from start to finish. Matt who set up appt was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable and gave us price for service, set up appt for same afternoon between 2 and 4 on 9/10/19. Brian came at 1:30 did a fantastic job. We had yellow jackets in the ground under an old large bush. We had tried spraying since 8/29 and used many cans of Raid Hornet and Wasp killer with no success. Both my husband and I had been bitten. Today 9/11, no yellow jackets in sight. If they return during 30 day period, no charge for follow up. Cost was reasonable $199. read more

Before you spend up and over $1,000 please read my advise.... We hired Orkin Aurora, IL and they weren't getting rid of our with the bugs we had in the house or the mice. They had to keep coming back which of course is more money. In our basement they laid sticky traps for the mice which I ended up stepping in ruining my shoes. No mice were caught on these so I threw them out. I went out and bought mice traps. I placed them where there were mouse droppings were found and BINGO the problem is gone. As far as the bugs....I identified the problem by searching bugs on google. I found the bugs I had and ordered the product suggested through Amazon to get rid of them. GONE Again! My issue cost me under $20.00 and the problem is gone. Orkin charged $84.00 for every stop and of course the initial payment was around $200.00. This was through Branch 502 in Aurora but, I'm guessing they are all the same. Do your own homework and spend your money on something you actually want! :) read more
