I much appreciate the refund and Jamie's professionalism. It's too bad I had to reach out to BBB and BAR for a resolution, but it's the squeaky wheel that gets the oil.

I called orinda tires at 10:30 am, they ordered the tire and had it at the shop by 12:30 My tire was mounted, installed, balanced and calibrated by 2:30. Extremely fast! Super efficient! I left a message and a couple days later he called back and said I could bring in my car early in the morning so he could take a look, no appointment needed despite his crazy busy schedule. He let me know that the issue was not nearly as bad as I had been told and that he could do the job for half of what Midas had quoted me. This was my first experience with him and he has consistently shown how much he truly cares about doing right by people and taking care of their cars honestly and to the best of his ability. I feel like I could trust him with my life. When he retires eventually I will have to go into mourning. If you are not sure whether the wait for an appointment is worth it, ask yourself if you can afford to pay double whatever he will charge you to another mechanic who will not be nearly as thorough as he will be. Recently, when he had to refer me to another shop because I needed a service he doesn't provide, he asked me to still follow up and let him know how it went after the work was done, just out of the pure kindness of his heart. I called repair shops around Hercules where I work. Many of them charge $180-$225 just for diagnosis. Singh was responsive and very experienced. He checked the local availability of spark plugs and coil kits that might need replacement before I dropped off my car at his home garage. Singh informed me in a couple of hours that his diagnosis did not produce any error message. He checked all fluid levels and topped up my transmission fluid which was very low. He shared with me pictures of his findings. (I was surprised as I had changed the transmission fluid just 8 months/9K miles ago. Apparently the previous mechanic did not add adequate transmission fluid). He tested drive and confirmed my car does not skipping acceleration or shaking after the stop. Singh is knowledgeable and professional, fair in pricing (I was charged reasonable diagnosis fee + nominal fee for transmission fluid). Thank you, Singh!

I responded, "So your billing rate is $400 per hour? He said, "Yes on all classic our billing rate is $400/hour. As I left, I said to myself, I guess they don't want the business which was odd in that there were no mechanics working on cars in any of the service bays. I took my car to a very trusted mechanic in Lafayette and had it back in two hours at a cost of $320. In the event Orinda Classic reads this posting, I hope they realize $400 per hour is equivalent billing at $832,000 per year assuming a 40 hour work week. Only a fool would pay that amount.
