OK...This is a straight up burger joint. Owned and operated by a family. They founded other burger joints like Queens in Pacoima, so they know what they are doing. They had a rough start of it, but they are formulating a place that will serve the Tujunga community for decades. They have a decent menu-burgers, dogs, grilled or fried chicken sandwiches, Mexican (THEY NOW ROLL THEIR OWN TAQUITOS), BLT, salad et al...! Fries and rings are good What I love is that everyone involved is eager to serve and please. They added back Pineapple shakes-yummy. I've eaten here aa few times now. Loved the old fashioned goo grilled cheese on sour dough, the BLT looked a bit short on bacon, but it tasted awesome-tasty bacon, yummy tomato & fresh crunchy lettuce perfectly balanced. I stopped for fries on my way to class a couple times...they kept me waiting for 5 minutes or so...and it was SO WORTH IT- hot, perfectly salted dinner fries. They do use some typical frozen goods here like most of Queens' competition, however, they mix their own sauces like the super spicy cocktail sauce that came with the shrimp dinner my buddy ordered. He couldn't finish it was so much food. It's no In & Out, but the service is Great, they are keeping the Newly renovated store clean, and like I said- I just love good, fun and happy people...who else would you want to prepare your good???

    Ehhhh... Pastrami or uncooked bacon?

Ehhh... Not impressed... They used old fries for my chili fries not fresh fries like they do at the Hat. Chili tasted pretty good but there wasn't enough of it :/ Pastrami burger was very weak tasting and thrown together like a mess. If you guys don't believe me look at my pictures. #BringTroysBack! However, staff was super friendly and service was fairly quick! That's why I'm rating 3 stars.

So much mayo it fell apart! #nasty

I wish I could give it a 2 star but I wasted 20 bucks on 2 dinners I didn't eat!! We haven't eaten here in years, I believe the last time was 2000, Hubby and I decided to take a stab at it and go in. I can't tell you how disappointed I was. I ordered a club sandwich, it had so much mayo on it that the sandwich literally fell apart. all you tasted was MAYO. I took one bite and wanted to gag. Onion rings tasted OLD. Burger was just as bad, if you're a mayo fan,. have at it. Besides the food being bad A man lives behind the trash can in a tent?! Is this even legal? Do the owners of the business even care?

I've been meaning to try this place for quite sometime, as it's been in the neighborhood forever, and I have not. They must be doing something right, I reckon. Well, it's not the roast beef sandwich. It's as if they went to their food supplier and ordered "non-perishable roast beef food product." It had no flavor, it was just a bunch of non-lethal meat on an average hoagie. It's probably not fair for me to judge them on a mediocre sandwich, but it left me no reason to go back again.

    "Chicken club sandwich"

I asked for a chicken club sandwich and this is what they gave me. 8 out of 10 time they get your order wrong or there's hair in your food. I'm never coming back to this rat hole again. They have a really old drive through speaker system where you have to yell into and repeat the order a few times. The burgers are good but make sure they get your order right.

My mother‑in‑law and our family friends had been before and spoke very highly of it. We originally booked a reservation for three people for Mother's Day, and when our friends became available, the restaurant was kind enough to expand it to six. They offered us a lounge area since they were fully booked, and we appreciated the effort to accommodate us on such a busy holiday. Parking was crowded because of the occasion, so we arrived a little late. Once we checked in, the staff seated us in the lounge setup, which had five couch‑style seats and one regular chair that did not quite match the arrangement. We asked if any other tables were available because the terrace looked fairly open, but we were told the lounge was the only option unless we preferred to sit indoors. We chose to stay outside, and although it felt a little unusual to see open terrace tables throughout our visit, we still enjoyed the atmosphere. Service was friendly and attentive. There were a couple of small hiccups, such as our seasonal pizza being forgotten during a server switch and our fries being left off the order. Everything else arrived smoothly, and the Descanso Member drink was a highlight. It was refreshing, flavorful, and a great value. Overall, we enjoyed our visit, especially the beautiful setting. I look forward to coming back another time to sit at their large bar for a cocktail and an appetizer.

They have a very extensive menu here. There's a parking lot in the back and I also noticed a sign that said Complimentary Valet but there wasn't anyone at the stand. We walked in to a completely empty restaurant and saw one server (Denise) taking another table's order outside. I think she was the only employee on duty and doing everything by herself. After about 7 minutes, she approached us and asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside, and we said outside. Then she asked us if we preferred the smoking or non-smoking patio, and we chose non-smoking. I didn't even know this was an option nowadays, I thought smoking at restaurants wasn't allowed anymore. Apparently they also have hookah available every day starting at 5pm, both inside and outside the restaurant. I was really looking forward to trying their frittata but didn't know that breakfast was only until 3pm. Unfortunately I couldn't order it since we got here around 4pm. We stayed with our waters and I got a bowl of their Clam Chowder soup that came with 2 bulky and FRESH pieces of warm Focaccia bread. I also ordered a Chicken Pesto Panini which came with Grilled Chicken Breast, Basil Pesto Aioli, Tomato, Mozzarella, Fresh Basil, Roasted Peppers and Arugula on toasted Ciabatta Bread. I chose Fruit as my side. The ingredients were all fresh, but unfortunately the bread was toasted way more than my liking and the sandwich was really dry overall. There wasn't enough pesto and the chicken was a bit overcooked. I felt like I was hurting my tooth as I ate it. On the other hand, my soup absolutely stole the show. It was an outstanding bowl of Clam Chowder that really hit the spot after not having it for several years. It was piping hot, and again, very fresh. So flavorful and enjoyable. I savored every spoonful! My son ordered the French Turkey Sandwich that came with Roasted Turkey with Swiss Cheese, Avocado, Tomato, Pickles, Lettuce, Red Onions, Garlic Aioli on Sourdough Bread. He loved his sandwich and ate every crumb off his plate. I also had some of his sandwich and it was really good, way better than mine. Also nice portion for the price. He got his with a side salad that had arugula, tomatoes, red onion and lemon vinaigrette. After seating us and taking our order, Denise disappeared and Bryce took over. He was an excellent server and provided great customer service. I told him about my issues with my sandwich and he apologized and brought me some extra pesto aioli on the side. The place is very clean and everything looks very new and well-kept. Bryce mentioned they've been around for about 10 years but did an extensive remodel during COVID. I'd also like to mention that the tap water tasted so good. No nasty aftertaste like some other restaurants. Even their glasses were beautiful. Thank you management, Bryce and The Corner. We will be back another time to try the same sandwich and see if there's any improvement. We will also try more things, including the Frittata. Both restrooms were fully stocked and super clean!!

We had two separate servers because one went home during the middle of our dinner and both were equally horrible. Not even exaggerating when I say we waited at least 15 minutes after we asked for the check and there were probably only 10 tables in the entire restaurant. And we had to call her back over to ask for a second time. SMH. The food although flavorful was so ridiculously priced it was not even funny. I got a "ribeye ". Was literally eight thin slices of steak, like 1" x 1" size for $42! No, I will not be coming back here for so many reasons. The view is great. Castaways is definitely not what it used to be in the way of quality but at least you get more and you get the view. But definitely not worth it going to this place. It was quite a frustrating evening. Also, if you do decide to go here, just bring a coat when it's a little bit cooler in the evenings cause it does get cold up here and getting the staff to manage the heaters correctly is a whole other frustration. Oh, and valet is your only option for parking up here. It's kind of crazy because a few years ago you could just go park in the lot or the garage that's available there but now they're charging you $11 and it's chaos. I will say that the view up here is great though so if you're willing to forgo all of that for a view for like a one time date or something like that, it might be worth it

The Black Cow Cafe has been part of my life since my college years, so when I came here now, it was always filled with nostalgia and a slowed pace over a calming meal. Opened in 1994 by a father and son, they embodied the community's "Main Street USA" vibe with a neighborhood diner where everyone knew each other, and you were served a soothing homemade meal during breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Did this cafe leave me with warm memories of the past, or did I cower from time's inevitable changes!? PURCHASE(S) Green Milan 16floz Drink ($7.95): My body needed something "green" and this sounded interesting. I thought it would be one of those health smoothies back in the 80s, but instead a frothy hazy light drink with a light grassy aroma and a middling leafy flavor. I didn't dislike it, but I wouldn't order it again. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=Uo_FrA9ezkxhIn4VnwEVtQ Vegetarian Omelette w/Country Potatoes & Sourdough Toast ($18.95): Made with avocado, cheddar cheese, mushrooms, Ortega chiles, pico de gallo, salsa ranchera, spinach, and topped with sour cream, an omelette was also on my eating bingo card. This smallish portion on the healthier side was packed with fresh goodness and fluffy eggs. The country potatoes were plentiful, nicely seasoned, but lacked the outer crisp I liked. The large sourdough toast with creamy butter and preserves rounded out the meal well. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=vDf51dNgOCoyIaPX_AOvrw Fish & Chips w/Coleslaw & Muffin ($17.95): Made with tempura fried Icelandic cod served with jalapeno tartar sauce, and Hawaiian coleslaw, the three fish pieces were crunchy, hot, and thick but needed more seasoning so the tarter sauce came in handy (no vinegar!). There were no TVs nor could I recall any background music over all of the loud conversations. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL It was nice to revisit The Black Cow Cafe, and hoped to return soon. The menu was packed, the food was good, the prices were comparable, and the service was busy but manageable. Plus, I always preferred to support small local mom & pop businesses. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $69.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip).
