Nice folks but extremely long wait times. Three in my household have had appointments in the last week or so. Running so behind schedule is just disrespectful of people's time. Ive been coming to this place for awhile because it was convenient for our family. They've recently moved locations, it's no longer convenient and 1.5 hours waiting around in exam rooms is now downright inconvenient. They definitely need to work on the inefficient scheduling. Dr. Braun and the entire staff are amazing--willing to spend time with each client and get all the details just right. I'd overwhelmingly recommend them to anyone needing glasses or eyecare, but especially to those with more serious or unusual problems who might not get great service from bigger corporate shops. read more

1) I was sold a high price item (Computer Progressives) and they did not remake that high price item when my prescription was corrected but replaced it with a lesser product. 2) They charged me a high price for that lesser product (bifocals) after the fact. 3) They resisted printing receipts that showed I was due money. 4) They tried to delay crediting me any money. When I insisted on waiting there until they could credit me, they did so immediately. The salesperson I worked with was Micah. Dr. David Braun did my original prescription is the owner of the business, and directed his employees in the business practices in question when Micah consulted with him during our conversation. Dr. Julianne Shelton did my corrected prescription. I should add that everyone was civil during this in-person business dispute but it did not have a positive resolution. Was up-sold a pair of "Shamir Workspace Computer Progressives" lenses. I purchased the "lenses only" to be placed in my current frames. The cost was $300 for these Computer Progressive lenses. They offered a $100 discount and also added antiglare coating for an additional fee. Unfortunately, they were an incorrect script once made, I could not see out of them. When they offered to remake the glasses they suggested I not go with the same computer progressive, though they rechecked and changed my vision prescription, but instead that I should go with an easier-to-fit bifocal. I was confused as to why they wouldn't remake the progressives with my corrected prescription but followed their lead. Picking them up today, they refused to give me a new itemized receipt to show what sort of lenses I was now receiving and what the cost of them was. I said I needed the receipt to submit to my medical Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and of course necessary to keep a record of what my lenses were. They asked why I couldn't just submit my original receipt for my FSA. This is an odd thing to suggest. I stated that I was aware that there was a price difference between the two lenses and that money back was likely due and I needed to submit the correct amount to the FSA. The new bill removed the original agreed-upon discount of $100 that I was offered but even then, I was still owed $20 overall. They never offered to give me any money back, I requested the receipts, compare the bills and ask for a credit. They said they did not know how to credit my card as they never gave the money back and that I should leave they would check with Dr. Braun what they should do and would call me back at a later date. I stated that I could wait there until they could credit me the difference. Once I said I wasn't leaving until I had a receipt showing the amount I paid and the amount I was credited they were able to do those transactions immediately. read more

Dr. Braun and their staff are amazing! They were very helpful and cared about me as a patient. Before I even set foot in the office, they noticed an issue with my insurance and reached out to make sure it was cleared up before I came in. The office is small, but it feels like a very personal experience - far different than a big chain optician. The staff are so patient and explained everything to me. The testing was really thorough, and Dr. Braun took their time to explain my results and present multiple treatment options for me. They have really nice frames to try on, and I found a pair I loved. They also gave some samples of contact lens solution to try as well as eye drops. I can't recommend Dr. Braun and their team enough - I'll be a patient for as long as I live in Syracuse. read more

Dr Braun is excellent. We've been seeing dr Braun for several years and the staff was amazing...helpful, responsive and friendly. However, staffing changes have resulted in decreased customer service. We went on a weekday for frames and had to wait such a long time that we left. We tried again on a Saturday and the optometrist was on the phone for more than 30 minutes and made us (the only customers in the place) sit and wait. In addition, she is a prickly personality and not customer friendly. Sadly, we've decided to go elsewhere. read more

I called for an appointment and was able to get in the next day (awesome). In the office, all things went smoothly and the doctor was really helpful. After wearing contacts and glasses for 10+ years, I still learn new knowledge and tips each time I go here. The front desk and glasses fitting staff were also very patient with me as I went back and forth about buying new glasses 100 times. Grateful for their advice and help. My eyesight has been poor most of my life and I have a lot of different experiences as many different optometrists. I have to say that Dr. Braun is my favorite optometrist. I am comfortable asking him questions and I am satisfied with his answers. Every year my eye sight worsens slightly and even though that should make me concerned and sad, I some how leave his office feeling pretty chipper! His staff is also amazing and they have always been able to get me into the office in a timely manner. I also like that send reminders via email and text to let you know when your appointment is and when to schedule your next annual appointment. So I lost my glasses due to an accident. While my prescription expired I figured the doctor would be willing to refill them as it's a pretty simple process to put in a few numbers in a spreadsheet. Instead they refused and the only reason I can guess is because they want more money to tell me that my vision is about the same. For this reason, the waste of time to get service, and that I may have to get checked face to face in the middle of a pandemic, I will never be patronizing this business again. read more

I received care from Original Eyewear during my three years in Syracuse. Dr. Braun was amazing, and so were alllllll the staff (from front desk to person who adjusts your glasses). They were always prompt and I always felt listened to. I recently moved to Rochester, and tried to get my husband a pair of designer glasses he was unable to obtain through our new provider as they did not purchase from that designer. I called original eyewear, and they promptly called the manufacturer and were able to ship me the glasses with the new prescription! Excellent service!! read more

Dr. Braun is very kind and professional but the receptionist and optician are very unkind and don't accommodate customers. My family have used their services for several years and I don't think that it was this bad and I don't remember that they are the same staffs. All my appts. in the last 3 - 4 years have taken much longer than anticipated and necessary. I tolerated this because of the kind staff, care and lovely environment. My appt. today was at 3:20, overheard the staff tell people after me that he was running 30 minutes late. At 4:30, I asked Rachel if I was soon, she said yes and that she did not understand why a patient after me was seen before me. She said, "That would have made me upset". After my family is working through an unreal tragedy and I explained to her that I was expecting dinner guests at 5:00. Still waiting. I left and will never return. Always highly recommend, just the polar opposite. So unprofessional - do not waste your time or your money. Shame on you Original Eyewear! We will never see myself. husband or son again. read more
