This place has everything. The comic selection is vast and the prices vary: they have a $2 selection, $5 selection and of course more expensive comics. Everything is nearly organized and at times overwhelming because there is truly such a large section that you could thumb through these for hours. The toys! Wow, so many i haven't seen in years or ever. I did find some of the pricing to be a little steep, but i suppose its supply and demand. Everything again was nearly organized and structured by specific genre, group. The staff was beyond helpful and friendly. They were super knowledgeable and just plain ol' nice. I can't wait to make this my regular comic book shop in the future. I spent a bunch of money and I'm sure I'll spend a bunch more.

I don't live in GA anymore so my usual monthly collection shopping halted. Used to go often when I lived near this shop. I'm glad to see this place going strong. Dave himself usually is in store or traveling for trade shows. He has a classic slick back hair style, can't miss him. Really cool guy and versed in comic pop culture from toy collectibles to golden/silver age comics. I am an avid golden/silver age collector. The prices are worth shopping here due to convince. The store always changes and usually everything in alphabetical order. You'll most likely find what you're searching for fast. If not the store associates or Dave himself will definitely assist you. Reasonably priced, especially since you can't find most items in major retail anymore or even online. If the product isn't available, Dave usually can get what you're looking for under a month. I don't know how he does it, but he puts Ny comic shops to shame. I'd find more of my collections at Dave's than any comic store in NY. Ironic since comics were heavily produced there. All and all, you can only access this location via car. I recommend Uber from a transit drop off point if commuting from metro Atlanta. It's worth bringing $20-100 to shop for particular comic magazines. He still does $.50-2 deals for back issues. I hope this shop continues because he always have or can get what you're interested in.

I felt a bit of an "ebgames" vibe -- before they went TOO commercialized! They carry a lot of comics (that are still in EXCELLENT condition), figurines, controllers, and even newer games as well (like ps4/Switch/etc). We were greeted immediately after walking in and provided a "break down" of where to find everything. The fact that they have old school arcades (which they also allow you to play unlimited for free -- and still have tournaments on) means they are okay with me! Lol! Def glad we found this place! Granted, we only purchased 3 ps2 games, but we still have a ps1, ps2, ps3, N64, and NES so we will DEF be back!

Nothing that made me stop shopping there or write a negative review at the time. However, I went in there the other day to look around, and I ended up spotting a Virtual Boy for $400, which is pretty expensive. But I recently received $400 for my birthday, so I figured what the heck and bit the bullet and purchased the system, as it was the only Nintendo system I currently didn't own at the time. The employee even let me briefly try it out, and it seemed to work well, so I bought it. After I got home, I set it up in order to fully test and try it out. However, while testing it, I realized that the right lens only shows a distorted image. However, this is only noticeable when you have your left eye closed. I tried to call the store immediately, but unfortunately they had already closed for the day. So the next day, I called at work and explained the problem with the console that they had sold me. The woman on the phone sounded very understanding and told me to bring it back, as they had a worker there who does repairs. So after work, I drove home, packed up the Virtual Boy, and headed back to the store. I even called and told them that I was on the way, and I was told, "Okay, we'll look at it when you come in." When I arrived, the repair guy plugged the console in and said, "Yeah, I see it's not working. However, there's nothing I can do." Then he called the employee that had sold me the console the previous day, and I explained the situation for a fourth time while the "Repair" guy called the owner. The employee who sold me the unit initially offered me to trade it back into the store, as they would not let me return the unit. I told him no because "I WOULD JUST BE GIVING THEM FREE MONEY AT THAT POINT" The "Repair" guy returned and told me that I have to get it repaired somewhere else, as he can only do basic repairs like battery swaps on cartridges. THAT WOULVE BEEN GREAT TO KNOW THE 2 TIMES I CALLED BEFORE I HEADED TO THE STORE. Anyway, the employee that sold me the unit also got on the phone with the owner and explained the situation. After he was done talking to his boss, he told me, "They can't give me a refund, not even a partial refund, and I couldn't trade it in because it's damaged." I then again explained that they SOLD ME THE UNIT DEFECTIVE BUT YOU CAN ONLY NOTICE IT WHEN YOU CLOSE YOUR LEFT EYE. They both just kept saying that they "tested it" with all the employees and none of them noticed any issues with the unit. Then the guy who sold me the broken unit low-key started blaming me for the damage, saying that "I could have damaged it on the way home yesterday, as the console is very fragile." And I'm just standing there thinking to myself, "No way he genuinely said something so RETARDED. He gotta be rage baiting. If a simple car ride is enough to damage the unit, would it not make sense that the person that drove to the store to originally trade the unit in to them damaged it? Therefore, it was already damaged before I purchased it." He then told me "that there's not much they could do," which is pretty much the nice way of saying "piss off." I then asked, "Since you can't do much, what can you do?" and he replied by saying, "What do you want?" I asked if I could get a discount on the item or a partial refund, as $400 is a lot of money to pay for a defective item. He told me "no," so I asked again, "What can you do then?" and he replied with "pretty much nothing." The employee's rage bait is starting to work and is genuinely pissing me off at this point, so I replied, "Why would you say there's not much you can do if you can't do nothing at all?" WHY EVEN TELL ME TO BRING THE UNIT BACK IN IF YOU CAN LITERALLY DO NOTHING DESPITE BEING INFORMED OF THE PROBLEM WITH THE UNIT TWICE BEFORE I EVEN GOT THERE. In the end the "Repair" guy clearly wanted me gone so he begrudgingly filled out a punch card and handed it to me 15% off my next purchase pretty much saying next time you come in you can pay less to get scammed

My Review of the Book Crook: Waiting 48 Years to Leave This Google Review…read more On my 13th birthday decades ago, my parents opened a small new-and-used bookstore called The Book Trading Post here in the Atlanta area. They ran it successfully for 12 years. My father had connected with Alex, the owner of the original Book Nook on or near North Decatur/Clairmont, who promised a great variety of around 30,000 books. What arrived instead were massive duplicates -- 30 to 50 copies of the same titles. It was a horrible, upsetting experience that stayed with my father. At the time I was 13 and didn't really know what it all meant -- I just knew he was upset. My father passed in 1981 after chemotherapy and radiation at Emory. Recently, I brought in a large personal collection to the current Book Nook Decatur location -- over 130 albums plus many books, including rare 1940s-1960s sci-fi classics and a signed copy of Miracle in Atlanta. As a longtime collector of coins, books, comics, historic color brochures, and more, I knew the value easily exceeded $500, likely more. I first spoke with the manager on March 25th of this year. He gave a standard percentage quote and left a message. When I returned on March 27th to collect payment, I received just $70. They kept all the books -- which filled the entire counter on the right when you walk in -- and roughly half the albums. I left with two small suitcases. Walking around the store afterward, I saw their selling prices and realized they stand to make a substantial profit. I spoke with the manager (Doogie, like Doogie Howser from the 1980s show) and then with an employee named Scott, who has been there for years. I shared some of this backstory. Scott was pretend friendly and even suggested I didn't really need to write a bad review. That conversation left me feeling extremely uncomfortable, and that discomfort is exactly why I decided to write this review now. The owner is very old (likely in his late 80s or early 90s) and does not come into the store. I felt the manager was dishonest in the way the offer and process were handled. It all felt like history repeating itself in the worst way -- like a scene from Red Dawn: "Avenge me." In the end, I just took the money to be done with it. This isn't just about one low payout. Most people don't know the old story of The Book Trading Post and that first disappointing deal with the Book Nook. Now the full 48-year circle -- from my parents' store in the 1970s to today -- is part of the public record. If you have anything of real value (books, albums, collectibles), think carefully before bringing it here. Get your own realistic expectations and consider other options. P.S. For comedy purposes, I've officially renamed this place The Book Crook.
