I've been going to the "Oriental Buffet" in North Adams, MA, for many, many years. Prior to the pandemic, I would tell people that if they wanted great Asian food served buffet style, they should really try the "Oriental Buffet" in North Adams. This is something I will no longer do. For about the last year and a half or so, IMHO, the restaurant has continually gone downhill. Where in years past the staff always made the customer feel very welcome, that feeling of being welcomed seems to have evaporated. I'm under the impression now, based on the last three visits, that the front woman running things just wants your order and then be done with it. She's not the same person from a few years ago. Last night I ordered what is called the "Seafood Wor Bar". The only items in the order that tasted anywhere like they should were the shrimp, and maybe the scallops, being on the small side, and not very plump at all; both tasted fairly well. The menu showed shrimp, scallops, crab and lobster. There was not one piece of lobster at all. And the crab was that fake crab you can buy in the grocery store made from a fish called the Pollock. Regarding the so-called crab, they were about the size of the first segment of one of your fingers_ maybe an inch long and about half an inch wide. For me the most epic thing regarding this so-called crab meat was the lack of taste; nothing like crab at all and very bland. Even the texture was way off. When chewing all I got was a mushiness. I never like thinking what I'm about to text, but I have to be honest here. Until they get the buffet up and running again, because right now it's menu only, there's no way I could recommend to anyone going to this restaurant. Also, as the name of the restaurant is still shown on the sign as "Oriental Buffet, All You Can Eat", I feel they should change the name of the restaurant and get rid of the all you can eat part of it. Three or four visits back, I asked the woman if I could order more without it costing me more because of the name of the restaurant, and she looked at me like I was an alien, and when I explained to her that at the bottom of the name it still says all you can eat, she explained that's only with buffet. I used to really look forward to and enjoy going to this restaurant, but not anymore. I doubt if I'll go until things get back to what I consider the old normal. read more

We travel 30 minutes to frequent this establishment because we have nothing comparable close to us. We love their staples of orange chicken, crab rangoon, and lo mein. Their portions and prices feel like a bargain and their service is always speedy. I have not dined in, but the dining room is always clean and friendly when we stop in to pick up. read more

I like this small place. It's the only place in a small strip mall. There used to be a price shopper next to it. It seems to be a family run business and there very friendly and attentive to your needs. From the waitress to the cooks there polite and greet you with a big smile. The food is good has flavor and is hot. They have a good assortment of Chinese dishes. The egg rolls are real good. My kids enjoyed themselves. i mean the food is good but harassing someone for a tip is not. we ordered it to a shelter and they became so rude when we said we couldnt leave a tip. and we asked for it to be put on the porch they honked not just once but many times like a crazy person. read more

The remainder of this most recent $50 order I would give 4 1/2 stars, but this review is only for these most recent "fried/steamed dumplings"...... I have been going to Oriental Buffet for decades, but as of late they don't seem to be consistent. I will continue to go and order delivery from time to time but I will send back food for now on and insist on refund. I attached photo of what is called a "dumpling" on their menu, but they have always been made with a thin wrap, which in my opinion reflects quality, as with "Jiaozi" and "Guotie", otherwise most commonly as "Potstickers". They are now made with a very thick wrap (nearly 1/2" inch in some places) that tasted like raw flour that neither myself nor friends found them to palatable. My dog gobbled them up. I did save one and deep fried til golden brown and it helped to cook out some the flour taste but will not buy when ordering delivery. Really good Chinese food, especially compared to most buffet-style Chinese places, and you can't beat the prices for how much you can get. I went with someone from China, who was duly impressed. A range of dishes (including some vegetarian) and usual American standbys (mac 'n cheese, meatballs, etc.) for those who don't feel like trying something different. Staff is very friendly and it doesn't take too many visits before you're recognized as a regular. Never a dearth of parking now that Price Chopper closed in that strip mall. read more

Oriental Buffet is the only place that I order from in North Adams when I want good chinese food. The prices are affordable. Delivery is fast. Although I would prefer going to the buffet, since you have more variety and you can eat more. I had a great experience at the buffet! The restaurant is clean and good looking inside. The waiters are friendly and attentive. Also the shrimp is not tasteless like at other Chinese restaurants. All of the food at the buffet tastes amazing and fresh. I never get sick after eating the food. (I have a very sensitive stomach). Can't wait to go to the buffet again! I would definitely recommend Oriental Buffet to a friend. :) read more

Plus awesome egg rolls - reeealllll egg rolls - and the very best, most fresh crab rangoons I have ever had! Oriental Buffet is located in the Price Chopper plaza on Route 2, between North Adams and Williamstown. Which is my way of saying the place is pretty non-descript and hard to find if you're not looking for it. If you're headed west, it's right past Friendly's on the right. That said, once you enter you'll find one of the best Chinese Buffets for miles. From the standard Pork Fried Rice and General Tso's Chicken to Stuffed Mushroom Caps, Crab Meat (faux) Wrapped in Bacon, and everything in between, the food is all well-prepared and tastes great. They have a concoction of crab meat, cheese, and some other ingredients served on a clam shell that's one of my favorites. There's also American food like chicken wings, a salad bar with a mountain of shrimp, a dessert bar, and ice cream if you still have room. The buffet is only $6.75 per person for lunch M-Sun till 3:00, and $9.50 per person after 4:00. Children 3-5 are $4.75, 6-10 are $5.95. Sodas are $1.25 each with free refills. They also offer a carryout lunch buffet ($6.50) and dinner buffet ($8.35). If you're not into the buffet, they also have a standard menu of the usual appetizers and dishes. You will be full after eating here, and perhaps more importantly, you won't have that bloated feeling an hour later that you get after eating at a lot of lower quality Chinese buffets. As it turns out, the Oriental Buffet is located quite near the Appalachian Trail, so in July and August you might see a thru-hiker packing away the food. If you do, please pay for their meal. They've already hiked 1500 miles and have 700 more to go. I guarantee your small gesture will be greatly appreciated. read more

We have been to many Chinese buffets, and this one is one of the best. Despite there not being a big selection, the food is really good and the service is super friendly. After going there for a few years, we are now on a first-name basis with the staff. I have never gotten sick from the food here and have never had any issues. The price is reasonable, too, at less than $10 a person to eat. read more
