Came across this cool spot when I was looking for a cup of Joe. They roast there own beans and have a variety of drinks on their menu. Service is friendly and very informative about their coffees. Some chais tend to be on the spicier side. I can't complain, it was good. My spouse had the Vietnamese coffee, he really liked it and is excited to come back to try other coffees here. I would say that the menu is a little busy, I appreciate the "coffees from around the world " theme but I think that the menu would be easier to read if it were simpler. Just a thought. I was passing through Laredo and I'm desperate need of some caffeine. I looked up coffee shops on Google and found this place. I arrived and found that, much like the VW, this is a smaller business. They offer a walk up window or an interior counter to order from. I told the employee that I had never been there and asked them to recommend something. He informed me the Vietnamese Style was popular and that I wouldn't be disappointed, which I absolutely was not. This place is great. I ordered a 16 ounce iced Vietnamese coffee and a 20 ounce choconut for my colleague. I thought my coffee was smooth and just what I needed. My colleague said his was good as well. Service was good and staff friendly. 4 stars for the steep prices which is understandable but, was surprised when total came out to over $13 for the order. Cute little independent shop. I had high hopes for the coffee. Unfortunately the barista serving me, while very friendly and pleasant, simply didn't have the level of training that one would expect of a dedicated coffee shop. When I was initially asked "what size?", I asked if they used a standard "doppio" or 2 ozs of espresso, she said that their "12 oz cappuccino" came with only a single shot of espresso....most places, a doppio or 2 oz shot of espresso is served as standard, bringing a cappuccino to 6 ozs total (2 ea of espresso, steamed milk, and milk foam))....so no idea how they get to a cappuccino with a single 1 oz shot of espresso to 12 ozs......so I asked for a "doppio". My first "cappuccino" that I ordered was a latte (predominantly milk, maybe 3x the qty of espresso). She was pleasant enough to make a second one after me asking for equal qty of milk to espresso.....but that one was simply average in flavor. Not sure what roasting house the beans come from (she didn't know), but the flavor was pretty lackluster. Also, for this cappuccino, I was charged with tax, $6.12. Love the independent little vibe this place has. The indoor coffee trike and the cute yellow van they have outside always make me feel welcome. But their main attraction is their coffee, you can never go wrong with something even as simple as a cafe de olla.
