The food was delicious. I got the tomato soup, sweet poppy chicken, and pasta salad. Unfortunately the service of the lady that assisted me was poor. She was rude. I don't expect a smile, to each their own, BUT I was asking questions about the menu, and she would just walk away. I made the line, I waited for my turn for her to make it seem as I was giving her more work or being a bother. I didn't get her name but she is the skinny girl. In addition, the establishment is small, so there is no door between the kitchen and the counter, so the blender was heard. With the blender noise and the customers talking; I couldn't hear/understand the employee. HORRIBLE!! Lastly, this is MY 2 cents, the decor found on the table is nice YET the wall decor are not appropriate for the establishment. No need to have frames that say Just DIY... especially when your customers are from all areas and stop by to the establishment to enjoy a meal despite what is transpiring in life or having lost someone by suicide. Sorry. I wasn't really impressed with this cafe when I went. I was expected to be able to order a nice coffee drink similar to a frapuccino or a latte, but they couldn't do anything but a cup of coffee from a drip pot. I ended up ordering a spinach salad. The vinaigrette I believe was a house recipe, but the oil tasted old and there was so much vinegar and lemon juice that the salad was rather bitter. At that point I lost interest in returning to this place. Wasn't impressed with the ambiance either. Plain walls with amateur artwork and minimal furniture. They were, however, conducting a cake decorating class, or something, which seemed nice. read more

So, I've been a fan of Caffe Dolce for yeaaars when I lived in Laredo. Now I live very far away and can only come back once a year or so, and every time I return they're either closed or have "run out of ingredients" during work hours. The name was a little tricky as they've switched from specializing in coffees to being a sub location(they only offer regular coffee from what I was explained). Nonetheless, the food was good ,but definitely overpriced for the value. I recommend the chicken bacon ranch sub out of everything I ate. I wrote this for a class assignment back in 2014 I called it a "Healthy Gem In Downtown Laredo" and I happen to stumble across it today in 2022 and decided to post it as a review. Everything stated was base off of my experience, I hope you find it useful. If you are looking for a great place to grab a bite other than Mcdonald's or any other fast food joint, you have to stop by Caffe Dolce. It's the place to be during your lunch hour or just to grab a bite to go. Luckily for me as I am currently attending Laredo Community College its close by. The overall look from the outside is similar to an older cottage home in New Orleans, around the French quarter area; it definitely does not feel like it's in Laredo. Its on a main street and its surrounded by trees. There's also an outside porch with such beautiful scenery feels like home, if the weather was right it would be a perfect spot to study or even hang out with a few friends outside. Let me start off with my experience at Caffe Dolce , the service was outstanding, restaurant looked very clean. Since it was my first time eating there, I wasn't sure what to try so I asked the cashier and he was so detailed with each selection on the menu I wanted to order everything! Every single item on the menu was healthy. The overall feeling of the discovered gem was really relaxing, as I waited for my food I looked at the art they had on display to be honest the art wasn't really my cup of tea but it was done right, I mean the details in the artwork was astounding who would've thought Laredo had such talent hidden away in downtown. My food came out pretty quick, I was able to smell the herbs used the aroma infused my my area, the presentation was unique I ordered a Panini "MAT" which consisted of Mozzarella, Asparagus and Turkey on a croissant. I felt not only good about my choice but the price was right. Also knowing that it was healthy also made me feel even better about trying Caffe Dolce. I also tried their all-natural cucumber lemonade and let me tell you it was so refreshing and tasty I was able to taste the lemon and the cucumber, and for me that's key in knowing that it is as natural as they say trust me I can tell, Anyhow It was paired up perfectly with the weather and my Panini.The order also came with a side, which was a pasta salad covered with pesto sauce looked delicious I couldn't wait to taste it . Once I took my first bite I knew I was eating something out of this world. Not only was it delicious the food is superb!, it was very satisfying to all my taste buds, words just can't describe all the flavors that my tongue was experiencing, my belly was happy and i was satisfied as i'm writing this as i remember my mouth is getting watery! I honestly felt as if I discovered a gem in Laredo abesides the normal tacos and more tacos it was different than just any restaurant in downtown. As I sat there and enjoyed my juicy Panini I was able to relax and read my Grassroots book, the waiter was also pretty discreet not to interrupt me but he still stopped by to see if I needed anything. I have to tell you if you are in the downtown area you have to stop by caffe Dolce it's a must! Trust me you will not regret the atmosphere is perfect for both young and older adults, I really hope that this business stays around for many years to come. The Tuna Salad sandwich hit the spot! The chipotle chicken was also extremely good. This tiny, cute, and cozy cafe is such a breath of fresh air. I don't feel like I'm in Laredo anymore when I come here. They do have an outdoor sitting area which is too hot to sit in the summer, but I see myself coming back at night or during the winter to enjoy a hot latte. Every one in my group loved their food. I used to rave about this place. When it was downtown it was just the best. It also had a great vibe and excellent service. Now the location at Del Mar has crushed it-and I mean that in the worst way. The ambiance is just a tad below mediocre. The employees are unenthusiastic and passive at best. The art isn't changed up, and they didn't even have their chalkboard menu last I went in. (What??) The pastry selection is nearly non-existent. NOTHING like the selections the downtown location consistently had in place. The entrees are still good, and so I ordered today via Uber Eats happy to skip actually visiting the restaurant. I ordered my usual, the "Mat" which is served as a croissant sandwich. I also opted for the large tomato soup for $2 more. When the food arrived, I was very disappointed. They used hoagie bread instead of croissant and it was on a fine line to staleness. It stinks that they're always out of something. The "large" tomato soup wasn't anywhere near worth the 2 extra dollars as it was only a teeny tiny tad bigger than the small. Honestly I don't know that I'll be back.. I love the concept of Caffe Dolce, but they need a stronger menu. The sandwiches are delicious, and the soup is awesome! However, it's called Caffe Dolce, and they don't have a variety of coffee choices. Suggestion...get a Koering grey some flavors, experiment. A shake of cinnamon, a dollop of whip cream, squeeze of caramel, or a sprinkle of nutmeg goes a long way. read more

Great healthy choices :) It's never been overcrowded when I have visited. You can enjoy of calm environment although the music can be lots some times (nothing they won't fix if you ask). My favorite is the chicken apple salad over spinach with vinaigrette. read more

Used to be a great deli place. It had been sometime since I had the opportunity to visit this place. Service is not what it once was, the Christmas music was blaring in the background so much so I was unable to hear the cashier or was the cashier able to hear me. Took longer than usual to get the order my guess was that they did have a large table during a weekend. I noticed several other customers waiting more than :30 minutes to get their orders. Utensils, napkins and straws are only available upon request. The food itself was still good other than the very cold pasta salad that seemed to be right out of the cooler. There was one personal issue I had, the straws, anyone can grab them and "select" the one they want leaving any residue on the remaining straws for other customers to use. Don't know if they changed owners or management but it's not what it once was. Hopefully it was only an isolated issue. read more

It's good. I guess the cashier we got could have been more friendly but right prices. Love local and this business screams it in every way possible. The food is healthy which is refreshing with a crowded space of unhealthy options. The drinks are 10/10 and freshly squeezed.
