The food was absolutely good, my vegetarian kiddo loved it, the service was fast, place was clean and cool on September 7.

El Quinto Sol saved me during my work trip to Laredo. The food was fresh, flavorful, and made with love. I ordered to pickup and my food was ready within 10 mins both times. Thank goodness I had this option, otherwise I fear I would have otherwise starved. Get the fishless tacos! They had the perfect savory and chewy bite and spice to them (very clean but with a healthy twist given the cabbage accouterment) - I'd order these again in a heartbeat, especially because each taco featured a healthy serving of meaty sliced avocado. The vegan tofu taquitos were DELICIOUS and surprisingly filling; would have have ordered another if I had known that. And the salsa that came with them was delectable! I also ordered the chickpea soup, which was good but nothing memorable - seasoning was light and it needed some thickness to it IMO. I thought these three things would be a substantial but reasonable meal. Ot was enough to feed three people - which is great because I had leftovers for lunch! I came back the next day to pick up a burrito for my long journey home. This thing was as big as my head and it literally lasted me all day (10 hours). If I ever find myself back in Laredo, this will def be my first stop!

Awesomeness! My daughter and I come to El Quinto once a week lol! Love it

Great food! We come once a week lol! Maybe 2 times is just good! Very friendly staff! My daughter is vegan.

Tamales a must! I think it's like spinach? Dessert.. Yogurt weird at first but realize hey this is good for me right? If I'm alone, I just get the small and if I'm w someone get a large cause there's not enough to share. My fruit - strawberries, pineapple and/or mango. Topping - amaranth (cause it's "good for me"),l and Coconut strips. My next try is sprinkles and granola. Top it off w cajeta (caramel-goat milk) Soup - lentil

I wanted to try the vegetarian meal, all the locals were raving about it . The restaurant looks very clean and the waiters were very helpful and patient especially because we were not sure what to order. I decided on the daily plate, Wow ! For 10.99 it was well worth it, comes with a soup , salad drink and a main course. ..plus the drink is a free refill, the cucumber drink is very refreshing, the waiter was kind enough to have us taste all the drinks and salads before ordering, so we did enjoy this healthy meal,

Can't beat this cactus salad. Unique flavors, I love it!

The prices here are reasonable compared to Houston or Dallas, for example, but most everything is a la carte, so you can spend a lot quickly if not careful. My eyes were set on the seabass ceviche, so I know I had to have that. I also wanted a cocktail, but I remembered I had a long drive ahead of me, so I just opted for more food instead. I ordered the corn flake fried chicken sandwich. Ceviche - a nicely sized portion that comes with 2 crispy tortillas. Inside the ceviche are finely diced carrots, red onions and cucumbers, cilantro, sliced avocado, and numerous pieces of diced fish and lime juice at the bottom. 5/5 Chicken sandwich - served on a plate with 2 sliced yellow cherry tomatoes sitting face down. This has a large breast, with pickles and cole slaw. 3/5 This is my kinda place, and it seems fairly unusual to find a restaurant like this in Laredo of all places. I would definitely come back on my next visit to Laredo.

For starters, the inside of the restaurant is just so cute and the vibes are very nice in there. Everyone that works in. There has always been so nice and very attentive. This place has been open for. Who knows how many years now and is still great. Every time I go, I have to order the Kamasutra roll and the Goliath roll with a side of tampico. They are my favorite and I can never choose between both of them. I also get the squid sunomono which is so good and correctly seasoned. I also get the beef mixed rice and I tell them to add scrambled egg in there . It just makes it taste better. Other very tasty dishes that I enjoy ordering there every now, and then I will get the pork eggrolls, the beef empanadas, and the poblano soup. In all honesty, there's nothing you can pick there that you're gonna say was not good. When it comes to drinks, they have certain cocktails that they can make for you and a small list of wine and beers to offer. The man with salt and pepper hair that I would assume was the manager was very funny and helpful. The waitress was polite and charming as well and had a few jokes as well. Overall the service part was very pleasant and is what would make me come back. The drinks were different but both nicely balanced and tasty. The food was somewhat of a miss as the protein seemed to have been a little over cooked but the sides and everything else was very delicious. The salmon, prime rib, and burger patty were all a bit over cooked. The salmon was a bit on the dry side for being blackened, the prime rib seemed to be over cooked or was either from day before or left over, and the burger patty after being asked for medium well was well done with no slight pink to be found. Those were the only misses in my opinion but everything else was great. They had run out of wings which I wanted to try but definitely worth trying if you have a chance. Cantarito shandy great balance and if you like grapefruit you'll love this drink. El canton the ginger and pineapple gave a banana type flavor but it was nicely balanced. Prime rib cocktail- great flavor from beer stewed vegetables. Beautiful balanced and got better with every bite, however the prime rib was over cooked and a bit tough. Almost tasted like prime rib used from day before or left over. Coconut blackened salmon - salmon a bit on dry side but the rice and plantain was on point. El capataz burger patty was well but the chorizo with mushrooms and cheese paired nicely.

We have an international trip coming up in October so we wanted to knock this thing out as quickly as possible. OK, back to the review. Before we left for Laredo, we checked out recent articles for restaurants to check out and things to do. There were quite a few intriguing dining options but less with regards to appealing options for what to do. We checked out the historic district but, teeming multitudes of perfume stores and money exchange places, the area lacked any charm whatsoever. It actually felt like we were in Mexico. When we checked into our hotel, we asked the lady at the front desk for lunch recommendations and things to do. She couldn't recommend anything to see in the area but suggested Palenque Grill for lunch, which was on our list of possibles. Palenque Grill, located just off I-35, is quite spacious. We were seated immediately and served some warm and crispy tortilla chips with various sauces...loved them all but I preferred the spicy salsa while my wife loved the bean dip. My wife ordered the Pechuga de Pollo ($19) and I tried their Puntas de Filete ($21). My wife was surprised at how flavorful the chicken was, although she thought the veggies were overcooked. I liked the flavor of tender beef tips in that savory sauce. Loved the freshly made flour and corn tortillas. All in all, a good lunch option, albeit perhaps not the best value around. Not your typical Tex-Mex. Service was very attentive and friendly. Lunch for 2 came out to just over $55 with tip.

The bread seems average and didn't have as good of a crust as you normally expect with paninis. I ordered the vegetarian and the sandwich fell apart. On the other hand, it's right across the street from the Tesla Supercharger without many other walkable options. So I'd suggest a tea and a light sandwich or veggie soup.
