Extremely Disappointed and Concerned…read more I had a deeply troubling experience with Village Cleaners in Clovelly off New Hampshire Road. My daughter visited today to help me drop off clothes for dry cleaning. She politely asked for pricing and was met with vague responses from the owner, who said prices for women's dress suits "depend on how she feels," the material, or whether she was "in the mood to work." Despite my daughter stating she was happy to pay, the owner still refused service or to provide a clear price. Concerned, I stopped by myself after work. The owner again would not commit to a clear price, saying she "might have to do too much work" and arbitrarily quoted $20 or more per suit. When I asked if her prices change based on who walks in, what car they drive, or what their skin color is, she offered no reassurance. As a local resident, I'm extremely disappointed to see this kind of inconsistent and discriminatory behavior from a small business meant to serve the community. Everyone deserves fair treatment--regardless of appearance. I urge others to consider this when deciding whether to support this establishment.

I discovered the day before leaving that the movers somehow got my suit all wrinkled and dirty during the move. Eek! Called EIGHT places, nobody could actually do same-day cleaning despite many sites saying they could online. Enter Dorsey Cleaners - they actually answered the phone, confirmed they could do it in time, and delivered. My suits look awesome and they saved the trip (how was I going to go to my Cousin's wedding with dirty clothes otherwise? no way!) Thank you for being reasonably priced and delivering on your promise. I'll be back!

My mother took her dress to Dorsey Cleaners for alterations. The dress was marked with chalk and…read morethey agreed upon the alterations that would be performed. When she returned to pick up the dress, there were blue stains throughout the top portion. She was told that another dress had bled into hers. The owner assured her to come back and the stains would be removed. She returned and the stains had indeed been removed; however, when she tried on the dress, she couldn't zip it all the way. The owner helped her zip it up, but once zipped, the dress was too tight in multiple places. He explained that he had to dry the dress twice and it may have shrunk as a result. Whether the error was due to the alterations or the drying process, the end result is that my mother's dress was ruined. She spoke with the owner about compensation since there was no way to fix the damage. He was dismissive and tried to lowball her despite their clear mistakes. This is very poor business practice, as he assumed no responsibility for what happened under his watch. My mother had used this establishment before without any issues, so this was particularly disappointing. He even tried to get the tailor to personally cover the cost of the dress instead of taking responsibility for mistakes that occurred in his business.

I love having Love Cleaners in our neighborhood of Huntington, in the Village of Kings Contrivance,…read morein our wonderful town of Columbia. We've been having our dry cleaning done there for 21 years, since we moved into our home off White Spring Way back in 2005. They have a convenient blue bag, and a drop-off chute and the woman who now owns it is very friendly. However, because they are only from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday through Friday (and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday), their hours are terrible for business people who have to drop or pick up clothes before work. I have been trying to get back to the store and pick up my dry cleaning all week, but I can't pick up at 7:30 a.m. when I leave to drive my daughter to school. And I can't pick up by 6 p.m. because I get stuck in Beltway traffic during my commute home from work. Which means I can only pick up dry cleaning on Saturday, even though I can drop off dry cleaning anytime because of the blue bag and the drop off service. I found out my cousin in Pennsylvania had a heart attack last night. He had the same A-Fib that killed his younger brother in 2010, 16 years ago, but my cousin survived and I need to pick up my dry cleaning and drive to Pennsylvania. I dropped my daughter off at school and came back home because I took off work to drive 4 hours to see him in Pennsylvania. I got to Love Cleaning at 8:58 a.m. and waited until 9:10 a.m. I tried knocking on the window. No one answered. I tried calling, no one picks up. I wanted to leave a voicemail, but the line hangs up. I'm going to have to drive to Pennsylvania and buy new clothes. Because a small business owner, whom I adore, does not understand how to provide convenient hours, reliable means of communication, show up to work on time or provide consistent customer service at times that are convenient for their customers and not just for themselves as business owners. I do not want to see this business close. I've seen them survive for 21 years since we moved into this neighborhood. But after 21 years, I will need to look at other, less convenient dry cleaners, who probably charge more, for less quality, but have more convenient hours. I do not want to support a big franchise location over a hard-working small business owner (like I am myself) who bought this business from the previous owner within the last few years. I hope this message is received and taken seriously. Not as a loud threat, but as spoken constructive criticism. As opposed to the silent loss of confidence that erodes customer goodwill over time. I want Love Cleaners to succeed. I hope you all do as well. I hope they hear this message loud and clear for the purpose it was intended. Opening 1.5 hours earlier Monday-Friday, taking a longer break in between the morning rush, lunch drop-off (for people who work in the neighborhood), and the evening pick up (for people with a shorter commute -- I'm jealous), would go a long way toward providing the kind of community service that is loved and cherished by all, as it once was.
