Oren's was fairly close to my location so that made it even more appealing. I was greeted and seated quickly. Since I was looking for a lighter meal, and there's definitely so much to choose from, I obviously had to try the hummus, and ordered it with the grilled chicken, grilled chicken. Service was pretty quick, but not anything to really write home about. Just basic. The chicken was absolutely delicious. If nothing else, go for the chicken! It was juicy, very flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. This is exactly what you want chicken to taste like. The hummus was tasty, but not as extraordinary as I was expecting. It was good nonetheless. The pita bread was OK. It did not taste as fresh as I expected it to be, and I don't know if it's made in-house or brought in. The pita wasn't anything better than what I found at a grocery store. Got some food to go recently. Was bummed to realize that the baklava I had paid for was not in the bag. I only realized after reaching home. I had ordered 3 items and saw 3 brown baggies so figured I'm good so didn't do detailed check(lesson learned) . The third bag was condiments eek. Also why do the falafels look like turds, so dark in color. My mom found the after taste a bit bitter and didn't enjoy it unfortunately. Hopefully it was an off day, i usually find the food very tasty from Oren's albeit tad pricy. Plus side is I really didn't need the calories from dessert. read more

I have had many meals at Oren's Hummus across various locations and missed writing a review so here it goes! During my weekly RTO to office I love exploring restaurants nearby to try different foods. Tho I had Oren's hummus multiple times I craved the creamy delicious lip smaking hummus they served and walked right away. I got the chicken pita sandwich this time. with complimentary pickeled cabbage (yummy gut health goodness). The pita was warm and so soft it melts right away. Hummus is creamy and finger licking good, the chicken had a nice juicy taste and crispy char to it making it even more delicious. Fully packed for a friday afternoon, their food speaks for themself. It came with plenty of fresh crunchy veggies (cucumber, carrots, and red bell pepper) and I was able to split this into two meals. The restaurant is long and narrow. Cavernous might be befitting term. There is a small outside dining area with a couple of table and a cozy window nook overlooking the street. It can get busy at dinner time. The food feels authentic Israeli Mediterranean. I had the green falafel pita, which was delicious. The falafel is really really good, and also like actually bright green inside which was interesting. However I thought the pita could have used more vegetables since it was overwhelming falafel, and also more sauce since it got a little bit dry at the bottom where the sauce didn't reach maybe. Basically there was a good amount of veggies and sauce at the top of the pita but the bottom half was pretty much all falafel. Still tasted great and I would try it again since it might have just been a one off. Vegan options are labelled on the menu. Also I like that they offer both white and whole wheat pita. read more

Great falafel, hummus, baba ganoush, Israeli salad, pickled cabbage, pita, and the hot sauces were a nice surprise--green and red. Came by for dinner the other night and the experience left much to be desired. This appears to be the original Oren's Hummus shop and they feature both indoor and outdoor dining. Indoor dining was very tight, like Paris tight, so tight that I smelled the BO from my neighbor...yikes... Waitstaff was efficient and provided recommendations upon sitting down. Started off wih the mushroom boureka and the filling came out cold...at least the pastry was warm and flakey on the outside?!? Our waiter suggested the Australian lamb kabob and I ordered this. I've never eaten here before but I've always seen the line out the door and it had decent word of mouth reviews so I stopped in after a movie at the theater. I have to say, it was just meh. Both my friend and I agreed that everything we had (the sampler platter, two boreks, the veggie skewer with Israeli couscous and the hummus was just kind of bland. It seemed that everything needed salt, especially the hummus. But worse was the service. It was an empty restaurant, there were only three tables seated, no line, and they could not have rushed us out faster than they did. They were asking to take away our sampler as soon as the other food came out, even though we had just started eating. And as soon as a fork hit the plate, they were offering to clear our plates even thought there was still plenty of food on the table and we were trying to chat while we ate. Maybe the service was so rushed because it's usually so busy, I don't know, but with the not great service and the not great food I don't really see the hype or feel the need to come back. read more

Came here for an early dinner with family. It was a very beautiful day so we decided to sit outside and and enjoy the warmth. They have many tables outside and have lots of shade to sit in. Our host gave us cold water that was very refreshing and provided us with their free coleslaw. The coleslaw is made with a vinegar base and taste delicious during a hot summer day. I've been to this location about a year ago and remembered loving their hummus. I decided to get their chicken hummus and it did not disappoint. The hummus is made fresh and is thick and tasty. The chicken compliments it very well. The pita bread is thick and fluffy. Comes out warm and fresh. They give you two large outta breads per hummus plate. They give large portions so I went went home with left overs. My dad got the rice bowl with beef and my partner ordered the hummus and eggplant. We each loved our food and we're excited to have enough left overs for another meal. I would def come back again. The hummus is just the best. read more

Personally, I love Oren's hummus! It's made in a right way. This location in Palo Alto is my favorite, since Oren's is a chain, I have tried every location but this one stays número Uno! Service is very good and prompt! Food is always on spot. I tried many versions of their hummus and Jaffa is the best. Their Israel salad and Shepard salads are great! Babaganush is great too! So far I didn't find a dish they have I didn't like. Ambiance is typical restaurant but it give out neat and clean vibes. Negative side is that they started putting less meat into pittas. It's a noticeable now. I know inflation hitting everyone hard but skipping on meat quantities could hurt business even more! read more

The waitstaff are very friendly and accommodating, and the service is extremely quick-- my whole meal and a complimentary salad both arrived less than 15min after I was sat. The gluten free pita is always a favorite. Really good for us celiac folk. They do charge a gluten free tax (the gf pitas are $2 each to add to order that already comes with pita) but I think it's well worth. The hummus is good, and hearty. The pita arrives warm which is lovely. I arrived around 1145 and was sat immediately-- around 1220, it started getting really busy! So definitely recommend coming just before noon. despite it being pretty busy by 1220, there was still some outdoors seating available. read more
