Hardline installed two fireplaces for us, both of which involved demolishing the old 1970s rock wall fireplaces. One required building a four-sided, free standing cage from floor to ceiling, and one required a flush wall cage, again from floor to ceiling. They gave us the exact square footage we needed to order the tile [Bedrosians Tile and Stone] and the Schluter [our new favorite word] trim. They installed the tiles we picked out, built and laid new hearths, assembled the inserts that we bought, and installed the gas lines. They directed us to Lisac's for the inserts and Lisac's was also great to deal with. They also gave us a tutorial of the remote control after the jobs were finished [it's not just off and on anymore!]. Every single person that sees our living room fireplace gives us a "WOW"! I'm just sorry that we don't have anymore fireplaces that need to be done, but since they also offer a yearly maintenance contract for a very reasonable price, I signed up for two years as I am afraid of anything fire-related so we'll still get to see them once a year.

This was my first time doing a project of this size for myself. I wanted a 30'x50' metal RV garage built on a concrete slab with an 80' asphalt driveway on my 5 acre property. I contracted for surveying, engineering, geotechnical support, and worked with the county for all permitting. After selecting my metal building contractor, I called Leo's company for an estimate after seeing the many positive reviews he had on Google and Yelp. In the excavating, concrete, and asphalt areas, I had a difficult time finding single contractors that did all three areas. Besides Leo's estimate, I was able to obtain one other. Other contractors would say they worked in all three areas but upon visiting my site, they would say they just did one area but had contacts that could provide estimates in the other areas. Leo's site visit and subsequent interactions put me completely at ease. He had done his homework, deep diving the plans I had sent him. His estimate was in the ballpark of the other and he provided pictures of his other jobs that proved that he had more than enough expertise to complete my project. Over the course of my project, I came to rely upon Leo to help me overcome obstacle after obstacle due to my inexperience working across the trades and with the county. In one example, we had a conference call to talk to the engineer to determine how best to build up the ground to make it level for the slab with a mostly level driveway that would drain properly, and T'd from the original driveway. In another example, I did not find the building permit on the county's electronic system until after the concrete slab had been poured. The first geotechnical report had made "suggestions" that the county made "mandatory" in the building permit, one of which was having a geotechnical expert write an assessment after the forms were constructed and before concrete was poured. I was able to have the geotechnical engineer visit the site and inspect after the fact. Leo made himself available to answer questions and he had pictures of the rebar and forms. A positive report was developed that satisfied the county. Leo told me that he likes jobs that are my size and up to 12 homes at a time so he can be responsive to his commitments. For me, he was on site when he said he would be. The size of his crew was always right for the job at hand and no one was ever not fully engaged. If you have a major self-funded project and are looking for someone you can trust on your team, look no farther than Leo Lopez and Lovaz Excavating LLC.

It's known that you don't usually go with your lowest estimate because they say you get what you pay for, BUT this was a chance I was so happy to take as I got superior quality at the lowest price. Any mess that was made along the way was also cleaned up without having to be asked. I would 100% use Ivan and his crew again and again for future work!

He listened to all my far-fetched ideas and was patient with me the entire time, but I eventually had to scale back some of those crazy ideas so I could stay within my budget. After many design iterations and so many wishful thinking, I finally decided on what was best for my backyard. Giovanni was very patient with my many changes and ideas and when I finalized the design, his awesome crew went to work. After 4 years of unused backyard space and being probably the last house on my block without a family backyard, I can now say we have a backyard that finally has an identity. The entire process was truly remarkable. Giovanni truly has a keen eye, great understanding and knowledge of materials, working with the materials vendors and providing feedback on changes in the design as well as provide suggestions as well as communicating the work to his fantastic crew that put many hours of physical labor, working under the elements and spending much time and effort to make all of this possible. His crew works hard and they communicate well together. Only the final day of work, I can see that even the crew was truly amazed at the final product that came to fruition with their own hands. I could see a lot of pride from their faces when they finished out the last day as they took pictures of their work. My wife and I are truly happy that we now have a place where we can entertain our family, friends and also enjoy with our dogs and also into our retirement years. Thank you Giovanni and crew for making all of this possible.

From there, they worked every (week)day until the job was done. (No days off to go work on another project, as may also be a typical practice in construction.) When they took the forms off, the work was gorgeous! There were a few details that needed revision at the end; one phone call to John M.
