Old Stone Pet Lodge - Kevin, the tired but happy pup after a long weekend at Old Stone

Old Stone Pet Lodge is probably the best place to take your dog for daycare or boarding in the…read moreMadison area! Our dogs look forward to every time they get to go to Old Stone, and honestly if we game them a choice to come home or stay and play, I think they might just choose the later. They have helped us out when life events occurred and we needed someone to watch both dogs with short notice and have helped calm down two puppies that bounce off the walls. If you live downtown or the west side, it is definitely worth the drive to have your dogs stay here, where it is clear that the owners truly care about their pet and human clientele!

Our 3 beagles came home happy. So something's being done right by the staff. Usually they are panting for the first hour after leaving a kennel. Not after their stay at the Old Stone Pet Lodge. They were calm and relaxed, happy to see us but not that desperate sound of being happy to get away. When we picked them up- we got to watch them play on the snow hill from the camera in the lobby area. They looked happy. The staff is SO friendly and the dogs didn't have that "kennel smell" that they typically have at other kennels. We will definitely be back if ever in the area again. Thank you for the great care of our canine "kids"!

It's good but I could never get an appointment. A great experience when you can get your pooch in…read morefor a wash and groom but last time I tried to set up an appointment it was like a 2 month wait, which kind of defeats the purpose. So that's why 1 star is removed, we haven't tried for a long time to get in here so maybe things have changed but we ended up having to go to Earthwise Pet Supply in East Madison until we moved to Janesville and are now looking for new groomers down there since traveling to Madison for dog grooming appointments is a lot of travel time.

Since my review was removed, here is my original review that took place at this facility…read more I am writing to formally register a profound and unequivocal complaint regarding the grooming services provided by Madelyn, which resulted in significant distress and injury to my dog. Prior to the grooming session, I explicitly communicated that my dog suffers from severe anxiety, possesses highly sensitive nails, and reacts poorly to blow dryers. These crucial details were conveyed to ensure a calm and safe experience for him. Madelyn'a immediate response was one of overt rudeness and unprofessionalism, marked by dismissive eye-rolling and a sarcastic retort, "Oh, like I haven't heard that before." This utterly disregarded my legitimate concerns and set an alarming precedent for the subsequent care. Upon collection, my dog was visibly trembling and in an unprecedented state of distress, far beyond his usual initial apprehension. It is important to note that at seven years old, he has undergone numerous grooming sessions throughout his life without ever exhibiting such extreme post-grooming trauma. The full extent of the horror became apparent shortly after. Once I secured him in his car seat and returned home, I discovered a horrifying scene: his entire car seat was saturated with blood. Closer inspection revealed that every single one of his nails had been severely butchered and was bleeding profusely. This was not a minor 'quick' on one nail; it was a comprehensive and shocking mutilation.I immediately contacted the establishment to address this grave matter with Madelyn Sanderson and her response was one of complete denial and appalling indifference. She disavowed any responsibility, callously suggesting the injuries were likely due to my dog moving around too much, stating "it happens," and incredibly, instructing me to "get over it." This complete lack of accountability and empathy is inexcusable. As a direct consequence of her gross negligence, two of my dog's nails subsequently developed severe infections, necessitating veterinary intervention and causing him immense pain and discomfort. It is unequivocally clear that Madelyn possesses neither the necessary temperament nor the professional competence to work with animals, particularly those with specific sensitivities or anxiety. Her inability to interact with stressed animals, coupled with her dismissive attitude and demonstrable negligence, renders her entirely unsuitable for such a role. Given the severity of this incident I have formally reported this matter to the Board of Health, my local Attorney General, office, and the Better Business Bureau. I firmly believe that if such egregious treatment has occurred with my dog, it is highly probable that other animals under her care are also at risk. This level of neglect and unprofessionalism is utterly unacceptable and must be addressed with the utmost seriousness.

The prices are very reasonable for the amount of knowledge you are receiving. Trust us, we've been to UW Veterinary Clinic countless of times, who boasts Board Certified Vets, and feel Dr. Stevenson has the equal amount of expertise, if not more due to the fact that he has awesome bedside manners. We've been to other vet clinics before coming here only to have to answer the same questions about the background of our dogs, their ailments repeatedly. Feeling like another number to most, Dr. Stevenson is the exception. He's sharp and remembers every treatment, procedure, and medication your pet has been on. Dr. Stevenson is also very honest. They do a lot of procedures and are able to run numerous tests in house. If they don't have the technology or expertise in something, he will recommend you to the right place. Thank you Dr. Stevenson and staff for everything!

I was told that you didn't do emergency or urgent care visits. No info was offered on who did, you didn't see if an exception could be made nothing but "we're sorry". I ended up taking her all the way to Lake Geneva to be seen. Granted it gave me 2 more hours to be with her but it didn't help in saving her life. I had to have her put down at 5:43. For me those extra 2 hours were more suffering for her and agony for me. I doubt that I will have another animal but if I do, my shadow won't darken your doorway for them to be seen.
