I am 81-year-old man and am confined to a wheelchair for mobility…read more I was scheduled for my first appointment here at The Woodburn Vision Source. We did not know where this office was located, and so we called for directions as we driving into town. The problem was the directions they gave us were for coming from the opposite direction that we were coming from. It took a few minutes to figure out the error and then loop around after we discovered that the directions were bad. We arrived a few minutes late and was told that the appointment had to be rescheduled to another time. I then asked the receptionist to ask the Dr. if I can still be seen today. The receptionist left to check with the Dr. She came back in a while saying the Dr. said we were too late. So, I was rescheduled to a couple of more weeks out. I'm having a concern that as a new patient, I may be subjecting myself to brash treatment, disrespect and unaccommodating or considering my circumstances. What will they treat me like in any follow up appointments? Customer Service is very important to me. When I was still working not that long ago; selling my art at festivals I had great pride in giving my customers the utmost respect, working together with and for them to achieve the most satisfaction for both them and me.

I was devastated and could not believe my "Optician Magician" had taken his incredible talents elsewhere. I have had so many issues over the years with opticians getting my prescription just right but John always nailed it - never had "to get used to my new glasses" as others would tell me. You should not have to - if done right, your new Rx eyeglasses should feel smooth and comfortable on your eyes while you are looking through them - no eye strain, no headaches. Well I scoured the internet and finally found John Gilligan in McMinnville! A bit of a drive for me, but I'd fly to Connecticut for him to fill my prescription for new eyeglasses. She informed me that because of our age- 59, 62, we would need to pay for specialist copay because most people our age have cataracts or glaucoma. Even though I stated we only wanted vision exams for glasses, she still insisted that they would need 45.00 each for vision exams due to our age. Both were rude and condescending. My husband and I repeatedly stated we made appointments for just the vision exams. We feel we were discriminated against and they tried to charge us extra because of our age. We left and made an eye exam appointment with another clinic.

But, Wow, all four of the staff I dealt with - Jolie, Alberto, Dr. Young, and my playful interaction with a woman at the front desk - truly exceeded my expectations. I was reassured about my choice for cataract replacement lenses (monovision for both near and intermediate) by Dr. Young, who said it was what he'd recommend for a family member of his. The above took place AFTER a previous appointment there that *did* REALLY annoy me. I showed up on time, and was told that the doc they had scheduled me to see did not take my insurance, and I'd have to come back.
