This is vet is the kindest place I have ever had the pleasure of visiting with my cat. When my cat was sick they would call me to check in on how she was and how she was reacting to her medication. They are alway honest about pricing and help you with the best options if you're on a budget with your pets health in mind. Yes, one of the gals seems a little abrasive on the phone, however in person you realize she's very kind and strong person. The vet tech- don't know her name was rude and didn't even make eye contact. Not a lot of empathy was shown towards my cat. Dr. Crawford is nice and probably has a lot of knowledge. She immediately referred is to a neurologist without doing any other testing Not one question about how she was eating or drinking water. I took my kitten here because he had chronic diarrhea and the vet I had been going to for three months couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. In those three months, the other vet prescribed antibiotics twice, Rx food, home-cooked bland diet options, and other meds. Nothing worked for the long term! Turns out it was a very common and simple problem, worms! With a dewormer given to him here, he was finally healthy again after three months of illness that went unsolved by our first, obviously incompetent vet. The care my baby Tiberius received here was awesome! The vet was thorough in her examination, tested everything to put our minds at ease, and our 6-month old kitten is healthy and growing again after she gave him the dewormer. Thank you! As an owner of a dog who is not a fan of anyone but our household, we have trouble finding a vet who is willing to fully sedate him in order to do a work up. We had been to one previous clinic who was unable to even get him in an exam room. Today we took our 2 year old, 100lbs Rottie in. despite his resilience, everyone was able to work together to sedate him, get him all his vaccines, get him a full heath update, clean his ears, and trim his nails with no incidents. I'm extremely thankful for the team at OVVC! Dr.Heppner and Dr.Crawford really do go above and beyond for their patients. Unless we are to move out of Oregon, we will be returning for care. read more

I recently switched to Dr. Chris Lipscomb, owner of Orchard View Veterinary Center. We came to her at a very trying time near the end of one of our beloved dog's lives, and I am so thankful we found her. She is personable, kind, gentle, but strong and skilled. In our discussions she understood my preferences--to partner in providing care, so I like to know information, ask questions and get answers but not be talked down to or seen as an annoyance--and she and her staff have been wonderful. The clinic is brand new (although she has ten years experience), beautiful, and well outfitted. I can't recommend her highly enough. She is now the health guardian of our furry family! I'm so disappointed with my visit to this clinic. Took my dehydrated 16 yr old cat in five days ago and was sold $420 blood and urine test and was told we'd be notified of results in 3 days. I finally called at end of 4th day and was told he needed a saline and antibiotic shots. I don't understand why we couldn't have started with that and feel like I was sold something not necessary. read more

Everyone here had been very nice. However, they are extremely expensive, everything from our flea med prescription, to routine visits, to getting our dog neutered have been shocking prices. There have also been scheduling mixups multiple times, and they are sometimes very busy and need to take a message when I call (understandable) - but then never call me back. When our flea medication literally doubled in price (and they didn't tell me until after they ran my card) I looked around and was able to find it for less than half the price elsewhere, and we haven't been back since. read more

Very disappointed in their service. I called in for a prescription refill for my elderly dog yesterday during my lunch break. I stopped by Safeway Pharmacy after work (about 5:30) and they never got a call from OVVC. So I stopped by OVVC at 5:45 and there were about 5 or 6 people in the waiting room. No receptionist. I waited for nearly 10 minutes and no one ever came out so I left. I called them just before they closed and they said they needed the doctor to approve them before they could call them in. They already had 5 hours to do so. She said they would call them in first thing in the morning. I said fine. Well it's 6:20 pm (they're closed now for the weekend) and I called Safeway pharmacy and they did not get any calls from OVVC today. He's completely out of Tramadol and now I have to wait until Monday. Great customer service OVVC!! I'm done with these guys. This is not the first time. read more

i couldn't be happier taking my adopted, previously abused and frightened dog to the vet... also, as far as cost is concerned, their wellness appointment is less than most, and the rest about commensurate with other clinics in my area (salem, oregon). the vet and her technician were better than i could have hoped for, handling my dog with compassion and understanding so she was actually comfortable being with them; also, my dog actually seemed to like them. anyway, my dog survived the experience intact, and i had been afraid she'd regress to previous terrified lows (but no...). my dog and i are theirs for life... read more

Have been bringing my four-legged family here for about 2-1/2 years since moving to Salem. Being a healthcare professional myself I was looking for a patient clinical outcomes driven practice that demonstrates an evidence based care model while also showing care and compassion for these very special patients. OVVC met all these criteria and, to top it off, Dr. Crawford graduated from one of the best Veterinary Schools in the country, in my slightly biased opinion being a WSU PharmD myself. I'm brand new to the area, and brought two cats across the country with me. I was nervous about finding a vet who would care about me and my pets, wouldn't push me to spend beyond what I was able and who would easily understand my cat's condition and treatment options. Orchard View was all of these. I've seen both doctors now on different occasions and have been impressed with both of them. I could tell when they walked in the exam room that they are there because they love pets. They were friendly, competent, compassionate and concerned about my pets. They both offered me options for treatment and took the time to talk to me without talking either over my head or down to me. The clinic is clean, fresh and well laid-out to minimize awkward cat-dog encounters, and they seem to be stocked on the basics and able to get more uncommon medications or products in very quickly. Also, I love the system that emails me my pets treatment records. My paper file cabinet, which is begging for mercy, thanks them! Highly recommend. read more

I've been taking my three dogs to Orchard View since relocating to Salem from Los Angeles. Dr. Crawford is terrific, as are the other veterinarians that have seen my dogs at her center. The first time I brought them for their exam, they needed a urine sample. Unlike the vets in Los Angeles, who wanted me to follow my dogs and capture their urine in a cup, Dr. Crawford's lab was able to use a catheter to extract a small urine sample after using their imaging equipment to do so. Wow! Way better than L.A.! Dr. Crawford and all her staff are friendly, professional, and very pet-friendly. She is so easy to talk to, and I am completely satisfied with the care my dogs have received. I've also boarded my senior dog - very reasonable rates, and peace of mind knowing he's in their care. read more

Great clinic, super caring- a real find!! We are new to town and the whole staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. They can also get you in quick. Everyone there is very personable, and they takes thier time with the patients. (woof) She also follows up on her patients religiously. We are happy to find this great place on the first try! They are very clear about what the charges will be and there are NO suprises. The rates seem fair for Salem. The office is very clean and stocks Royal Canin, my dogs favorite food, and it is stocked in Large bags, which are getting harder to find. You will love Dr. Lipscomb if you give her a try. read more

The vets here are probably fine but I think they need to re-evaluate their office policies. I brought my dog in for a yearly checkup for the first time on Thursday. The vet was very nice. (We had relocated so this was our first visit. Our dog has does have medical issues.) Spent over $400. Lab test were to be sent to me Friday, but the Vet I saw would not be in til the following Tuesday to look them over. Sounds fine, this is a well visit after all. I had to call to get the results, which were then sent to me. (I send them to my previous vet, so they could confer on her treatment plan. My previous vet let's me know by text that my dog actually has a bacterial infection which needs treatment.) So I call Orchard View to ask that another vet prescribe something for her, since she has a problem, and the receptionist tell me my dog has to wait until Tuesday. This seems like a bad way to run an clinic. At my previous vet clinic, you saw whoever was in for illnesses. This policy seems both inefficient and potentially bad for my pet's health. read more

We took our Cavalier here for several years, the service was good not great but not bad. The problem was the lack of communication, I got a new phone number and changed that information with them. I had a charge that I was unaware of for whatever reason; probably my faulty memory. When the dog became very ill and the sitter informed me of this, I called to make an emergency appointment for the dog to be taken in, instead of taking the appointment the receptionist only wanted to talk about the bill and when I intended to pay them. I asked when the bill was from and I was told the previous vist that was 4-6 months previous. I asked why they never called or sent a bill and was informed that they did call and gave the number, the old number the one I changed a year or more beforehand, as to never sending a bill that was never satisfactorily answered. I received reminder cards in the mail with no issues. The dog died before he ever made it to the appointment (congestive heart failure). I don't think I would take an animal back to this veteran due to the fact that instead of using the information on file to remedy a payment issue, they just did nothing untill I called with an emergency. The kicker is that the charge that was months old and not worth a stamp was worth badgering about in a time of crisis. This is my experience and hopefully not indicative of the way things are ran on a constant bases. read more

Been taking ym dog to OVVC for a little over a year and have been happy with the care and treatment that my dog has recieved. The staff seem friendly and always willing to answer questions and address issues. I appreciate that I have only dealt with one veternarian, Dr. Statter. I believe that continuity of care is important and have experienced in other places, more disjointed care. Dr. Statter seems very knowlegeable and willing to answer any questions that I have had. My dog is enrolled in their wellness programm which is seemingly on the expensive side but comes with discounts and a piece of mind that I can bring my dog in at any time fore a checkup without additional charge. I will continue to be going to OVVC and expect to continue to recieve quality care. read more

I have been so happy with Dr Christine and the entire staff. They know me and my dogs by first name and are so attentive to why I came in. Dogs had a virus last week, I called and had them in that very day, along with medicine and new food. The dogs picked up within 2 days and were back to their usual happy selves. I decided to go to Orchard View based on online reviews and ended up regretting it. It's a nice facility, but the way it works there you feel like you're on a used car lot. They were relentless in trying to sell me anything they could. I have no problem spending any necessary money needed to keep my dog healthy, but when it becomes unnecessary it's just obnoxious. It was quite obvious it wasn't about my dog's health it was about how much money they could make off of us. I've switch vets and don't regret it one bit. read more

We struggled trying to find a vet for our first dog Sadie who is a very shy Akita. What a perfect first veterinary experience! The office itself is spotless, open and welcoming. Since this is my first dog, I got a little neurotic about my questions. I called the office several times before our appointment with questions about her first appointment and Katie answered all my questions and was very knowledgeable and kind. Dr. Lipscomb is wonderful and took so much time with us answering all my questions. We were with her for about an hour and a half. I never felt rushed and I felt like my questions and concerns were all addressed. I left feeling completely at ease. Dr. Lipscomb is energetic and kind and smart as a whip. She was so good with scared Sadie and it was amazing how quickly Sadie warmed up to her. We talked mainly about Sadie's health but Dr. Lipscomb also gave good training and behavioral advice. We got a tour of their facilities. I was extremely impressed with their surgery, lab and sterilization area. Having worked in the medical field, it is very reassuring to see that they are using as high tech equipment and autoclaves as any medical office. Appointments are readily available and we never have trouble getting in. I read a lot of reviews online before we picked this vet clinic. I did notice that some people felt like staff was trying to sell too hard so I was aware of this before we went in so I approached the financial aspect very carefully. I agree some things they try and sell you on are unnecessary but staff were not too pushy about services. I recommend just being aware that they might try and sell you so that you can ask the right questions to find out exactly what is necessary. read more

They took such good care of her, wrapped her up in a fuzzy blanket and my little dog slipped peacefully away while being held by my daughter. My dog was not doing well he could barely walk if at all, wasn't eating or by today not drinking water, he is an elderly dog but I was hoping it was just some medicine that would fix him. I brought Pepi to see Dr. Lipscomb both she & her staff would so kind. I was prepared that the possibility of having to put Pepi down was going to be an option I prepared myself prior to going in to see her. She was so professional & with so much empathy through out the visit & provided options of what maybe wrong with Pepi & before rushing into doing all the options pointed out the one that would be the best as funds we limited that would give us the most important answers. Unfortunately it was not the answer I prayed for but it told me everything I needed to know.It was with extremely sadness we had to put one of my best friends to sleep. Dr. Lipscomb & her staff were amazing. Although I have such a heavy heart I want to say THANK YOU for being available & taking me at the very last moment when she could have simply gone home and showing so much kindness at a time when my heart broke . read more
