At the time, I didn't want to leave a negative review because they had just recently opened. Since then I've given Tapped another shot. The prime rib dip I had on a later visit was phenomenal. However, on my most recent visit I ordered the chicken sandwich and it came out completely raw. Again, the beer and staff are great, but I felt I had to write a review at this point. In my opinion, serving raw or unsafe food is unacceptable and something in the kitchen needs attention.

No wonder, since the restaurant was otherwise completely empty. They no longer have the giant stuffed tater tots on the menu. We ordered a kids fish a chips, a bowl of chowder, and a side salad. The fish was dry and inedible. The side salad soggy and gross, and the chowder was 'meh'. 2 other patrons came in at one point and seated themselves. After 10 minutes or so, one of them was standing at the kitchen door to see if anyone worked there. They then asked for 2 coffees, which apparently this former full service restaurant doesn't have? Paid $40 for the terrible food. This was definitely the last time we'll visit this restaurant.

It's perfect for gathering with friends or for solo visits to study or work. The staff also told me that most of their food comes from the food truck right next to the café, aside from the pastries they offer. They also mentioned that outside food is welcome, which is a nice bonus. I picked up their punch card--buy 9 cups of coffee and get the 10th free--so I'll definitely be back to keep collecting stamps!

That said, it's actually a great spot if you want to work from a café it was quiet, and the coffee was amazing. I had a regular latte to stay, and it was very well balanced. It was so good that I ended up grabbing a punch card. I'd definitely go back again just for the coffee. The barista was super friendly, and in the evenings they host cool events like trivia, live music, karaoke, bingo, and more. Visiting family on the island thought I would try the Thirsty Crab Brewery. I will be recommending this place. Definitely will be going back before I head home. You need to go straight through an intersection just before the brewery, turn on a dirt road and then it will take you to the parking lot. We still needed some GPS navigation to get in a homebound direction. There were a lot of good looking beer options here so what we did was get a taster flight which was a wise choice. Some of the beers we had that made up that was a Key Lime Lager which was great. It tasted similar to the dessert and was easily my favorite. Alpenglow was another, also a lager that was pleasant and refreshing. We continued with the unique brews of a Nettle beer, a mango lager and the May Bee Lager. We also got an order of some of their brats from the food truck here. Those weren't too bad, perhaps not the most authentic I have ever came across but enjoyable nonetheless and pairs well with the beers that they have available here. Fun brewery to go to and one that should be stopped at if you are visiting the breweries, cideries, meaderies or wineries on Whidby Island.
