I worked at a frozen yogurt owned by this company for 4 years so I loved being able to visit this location! My first impression was that it was huge and had tons of seating. Also, they charge by the cup size, which I appreciate because I know many places used to charge by the weight. They had 16 flavors to choose from, some regular favorites and some seasonal. I chose cheesecake, brownie batter, and toasted marshmallow. All great and they came out frozen (not liquid-y) which is a plus and means they don't let the machines idle. The one downside is you cannot put your own toppings on. Now I love to layer between my yogurt layers, so I was unable to do that. You tell the employee what you'd like and they do it for you, so if you were planning to fill your cup overflowing to get the biggest bang for your buck, you're out of luck. I think orange leaf is better than DQ because I can choose any topping and have more than one ice cream flavor. I like the variety! Sometimes when I come in I feel like the seats might be dirty but not because of the establishment. There's a lot of kids crawling all over the place and I just imagine their sticky fingers have touched everything. Great place! read more

I don't think the bad reviews everyone else has written apply anymore. I came here several times last summer and it was nice every time! Both employees that I've seen were constantly cleaning something, making themselves available to customers, and cleaning some more. I like that there are only two prices here, unlike many yogurt shops that charge by weight. At orange leaf it's just small or large, and you can put whatever you want in it. You know exactly what you're getting into. The color scheme and decor inside reminds me of a 70's television set, with retro orange everywhere. HR Puff N' Stuff vibes. read more

I only recently discovered this location and decided to check it out because I haven't had Orange Leaf in almost a year. I can honestly say I can barely tell the difference between all the self-serve fro-yo places in town. They are all very nicely decorated, organized, clean, and fun! There are a ton of seating options here! I think this location has one of the most seating options I have ever seen! The staff here is very friendly and does a good job maintaining the place and keeping customers satisfied. I enjoy the fruity flavors they offer, and also the chocolately flavors are not bad. I still believe the fruity sorbert flavors are what you should stick with for fro-yo. read more

Wonderful place!!! Love the selection of toppings and different selections of flavors!!! From fruity to fun like brownie, cake, caramel, vanilla, cotton candy, etc. Such a fun atmosphere and really awesome almost retro vibe!! Super. Clean!!! Staff is super friendly! Asking if you want to sample before you buy, etc. and the prices are so much better than your chain ice cream stores!!! You pay by weight. And for a larger container it's about $5 with whatever you want on it! I will definitely be back!!! read more

My grandma & i love this place, we go alot in the summer. i understand why it can't be self serve right now but i feel like you just can't have it be any other way. my grandma got multiple flavors & it was so full it spilled all over & there was zero toppings room. For mine i asked for little ice cream because i like alot of toppings, mine was still extreamly full. my toppings were falling all over the place on my way out. it was a mess. read more

Here is another horrible review for this place. As the only frozen yogurt place in Ankeny you would think they could do better. The place is almost always dirty, customer service is horrible, and the choice is minimal. Not to mention the hours are wrong and we have literally had the door closed in our face because we came right at closing time. Ankeny, please, please, please open a new frozen yogurt place. Ok I was across town and I was feeling some cheesecake frozen yogurt. After driving across town I pulled into the Casey's parking lot to see the open sign on to confirm I made it on time. Website says they are open until 10pm. I parked my vehicle and walked to the front door. Locked in front of my face. I walked around and they must have hit the open sign and made a mad dash to lock the door. There was a dozen people inside eating yogurt and weren't going anywhere anytime soon. But I couldn't get yogurt to go? I know the two people working could care less. Not their business going down the tubes..so I called to see what the deal was since their website said they were open for another 30 minutes..she said that was the owners deal. And that their store hours change with the seasons. Shorter hours in the summer? Brilliant business strategy if you ask me. Then they must have a time lock on the yogurt machines like a vault because because they said they automatically shut off at 9:30pm. Wish I'd worn my boots because the bullshit was getting deep. This place has dropped quickly. Tonight we went and I repulsed at the place. Crumbs on the seats, used napkins on the couches, the topping bar was a hot mess, the chairs were sticky and muddy, the yogurt handles had yogurt on them. Disgusting. As the OWNER was turning the topping handles around, he was eating out of the topping bins! We have enjoyed this place a lot in the past but I don't think I can stomach it. read more

My husband and I have lived in the area for 4 years and visit Orange Leaf frequently in the summer. Always been clean and plenty of toppings. However, the past few times we have visited the toppings bar is dirty, messy with toppings scattered everywhere and low on all toppings and out with some of them all together. The two teenage guys working seemed clueless this was an issue and no one took care of cleaning it up. If we go the next time and it continues to be so unappealing, we will not return. read more

Worst frozen yogurt I have ever had in my life! And I am a devotee of frozen yogurt! First of all, I don't like this management's insistence on pouring the sample flavors and handing them to you with their bare hands; not sanitary. But my main complaint was the taste, or lack of it. Being a big fan of all things caramelly, I tried the Toffee, and found it to have an immediate nasty aftertaste. Settled on a combination of birthday cake, cookies and cream and toasted marshmallow. All three were icy, as happens with very low fat and watered down product. Worse, they weren't even sweet, and none of the three had any discernible flavor. Without intending to accuse management of bad practices, it TASTED like all three flavors had been greatly watered down. They were the most tasteless yogurt I have ever experienced. I will NEVER return to this location! read more
