Overall, this was a great experience. A very modern space and my kids loved watching the cute videos and trivia scrolling on the wall while we waited for our coffee. It's a place that feels like a big chain, but it's just very modern and techie that makes good coffee. My kids loved getting the hot chocolate flight and I enjoyed my Halloween themed coffee flight as well. My husband got the pistachio latte and really enjoyed it, and both of us liked our scones. The only thing that really really threw me off was opening the door and instantly being hit by a wave of something that smelled like a hairdresser's place. I don't think I've ever been to a coffee shop with decent coffee that didn't smell like really good coffee. I don't know if it's the spaces nearby (it's in a strip) or the fact that it's a workspace and so the smell dissipates, but it was very offputting to have that smell in a coffee shop. I love how they have a mixture of different coffee flights to try, we did the 4 way flight and there was one that we each liked. The "special" toast flight that we chose was the berry medley and it was GOOD! It was everyone's favorite. Staff was sweet and friendly, I love how they came to ask us if we wanted whipped cream on top of one of the coffees since we asked for almond milk. The decor is very modern, plenty of comfortable seats & tables if you're just grabbing a quick bite or needed a spot to conduct business or study, there's also an outdoor patio area w lights. My husband and I have been here 5 or 6 times, maybe more since discovering the place. Today we tried the Delight Flight- entirely lovely. The cold brew itself is smooth and fabulous. The mini lattes were creamy and perfectly sweet, without being cloyingly so. I can't wait to go back to try the other flights. read more

Ankeny has a plethora of coffee places. This was my first visit and it was a great one. It's a great workspace and coffee shop area. The staff was great and patient. We went as a group of 7 on Veteran's Day and it was busier than we expected. I ordered a coconut latte and it was AMAZING! I wish I could go every day. We love us lots of caffeine - we also love amazing customer service & kind baristas. We came in to celebrate my little sisters bday, and upon overhearing us giggling about what flights we should all sample - our barista brought over a free dessert & wished her a happy birthday. The most incredibly sweet thing to do. Everyone working was so helpful in helping us decide & giving us feedback on their thoughts of the drink choices. We sampled all of the coffees & I must say - they know their way to a cold brew lovers heart. Everyone was so different & tasted incredible. Obviously we all had our favorites - but, I don't think I have ever left without getting myself another Flor de Miel for the road. Every time I go in, there are so many more new options & we are very excited to come back again. Might I add, this is an incredible space to also study & book a room to get group projects done in. The flight drinks are pre-determined, and they have flights of nitro, cold brew, tea and even cups of pour over. Flights were very good but we waited one and a half hours for the flights. We were never told that it was a wait at all. We waited 50 minutes before we said anything and asked what the wait was for and she said they're backed up and we waited another 45 minutes for our flights after. We just ordered one flight each. Would not recommend due to the lack of urgency let alone paying 30+ dollars and not being informed of the outrageous wait when you see people coming and going with single drinks around you. read more

Hope to explain why 3 stars The decor is cute but somewhat uncomfortable. We explained it was our first time here and asked for help thus I ended up with tea, perfect blend of Earl gray lavender and honey, I found tables a little too close for privacy and visiting or working, my tea was delicious tho ... my daughter's coffee (an Americano) was not good..... and scalding hot! She needed some ice just to be able to drink any. She ended up tossing it out, and we went to the Porch Light, (much prefer their cozier quarters) but glad we tried the blue bean without rest of family, for me when you need ice to make your coffee hot (not scalding) and sipable ... and when getting ice no one thinks to offer to remake it, (of course not because that's their serving temperature) well that's not for me or us to return, that said you can make up your own mind. read more

This place was great! Visiting from out of town and stopped by. Plenty of parking spaces, was not busy around 11am. They also have a HUGE coworking space- but the coffee shop area was relatively small. We did eat outside on their large patio! Service was quick, staff was nice and the flights were fun and delicious! Would recommend if you're looking for a fun idea. Menu had a lot of options. Was excited to try this place drove from Cedar Falls. I purchases the pumpkin flight! It was the worst coffee I have ever experienced. I had 4 small glasses for $16.95. Crazy! My friend did the Autumn flight hers was awful as well. We took a sip from each and left. Not sure if milk was spoiled but our stomachs hurt the rest of the day! Definitely not going back! read more

Super cute cafe and workspace. I went in thinking it was just a huge coffee shop but learned you can rent out workspace and it's not only very cute and comfortable inside, but the owners also have various workspace plans that accommodate all types of needs. I was there when the cafe was a little slow so the barista gave me a tour of the workspace in the back and I was really impressed. The best part is that they have delicious coffee, snacks and an outdoor area anyone can use with free Wi-fi. I got the cold brew coffee flight and enjoyed each one. That was a cool, unique experience. I also got some of their Bolivian empanadas with chicken, potatoes and veggies. They were tasty and satisfying. My partner got their avocado toast with tomatoes, basil and balsamic glaze and she liked it a lot, too. It's a place I return to every few months even though I don't live in Ankeny because I love that they are doing something so unique and I hope they stick around for a long time! read more

Stopped in around 7am and the place was empty (during covid-19 so I was not surprised). The place however was clean, brightly colored and lively. There is office space for rent in a different section which was very cool. Had a coffee and avocado toast to go and both were great. Prices were above average for Des Moines, but average for Ankeny. My roommate and I drove all the way to Ankeny to try this place out. Our goal was to find a cute place with coffee and WiFi so we could study for the afternoon. We walked in the door and were greeted warmly by the staff. We hadn't been to this location before, so the barista began to spread the gospel of blue bean. The whole menu was read to us with a complete description of the items including the growing process of the coffee plants. Props for the dedication. We ordered drinks just to move the discussion forward. It wasn't until after we purchased them that we learned you must purchase the WiFi. This was a major disappointment as we had driven this whole way just for this purpose of using their WiFi. Because we're college students and broke as dirt we were not going to shovel money out to rent the wifi. So we left. Not only that...the coffee tasted horrible. read more
