They are always working on people's special projects; Model A Ford, aircraft parts, my teak patio set etc. Was so worth the time and $ to have them sand blast off years of different finishes from the chairs and table. This was my first time using Orange County Sandblasting. Very nice people, unfortunately I did not get the best results on my classic car on some parts. Seemed like the blasting might have been a little aggressive which resulted in more body work afterwards that will cost me more money. read more

I just had a great experience here. I brought in a child's vintage pedal car that had a lot of rust on the undercarriage. I was quoted $40 over the phone to sand-blast the undercarriage and that's exactly what they charged me. The service that they provided me was obviously much more about customer service than about turning a profit, and I know from experience that most places wouldn't have even bothered with such a small project. If they were willing to do this for me then it's kinda of hard to take their negative reviews very seriously. I've been taking clear Doug Fir lumber here for about 4 years, because I love the look of sandblasted wood structural elements in my contemporary craftsman house. Mostly small jobs, like replacing a rotted 12' long 4x6 DF post that is exposed and holds up my front porch & roof (I have a post & beam construction house). 4x6 lumber for a cool new front porch decorative railing system...etc. I believe this is a classic small business, and the founder (Don Gravley) is in the process of turning the business over to his son Paul (all conjecture & observation on my part). Don is a crusty character but who warms up over time if you let him. He's likely to teach you some new swear words along the way, no extra charge! His son Paul, who I just met recently is much quieter (no cursing!), but most importantly, as competent as his dad. These guys deliver quality work. I recently had a very large order (~ 450 sq. feet, which is how they charge, not by linear ft), so instead of buying it all at Ganahl & humping it over there myself, I just let Ganahl handle it. (It's a testament to these guys' proficiency that a top notch outfit like Ganahl only brings their lumber sandblasting work here.) It was much more convenient, but Ganahl marked-up OCS's sandblasting work by another ~ 32%. (I was hoping it would only cost me an extra ~ 15%-20% or so.) Plan to pay about $2.81 per sq ft for sandblasted 1x's boards (#3/ "Heavy" sandblast finish) if you take it to OCS directly, and about 1/3 more (+ delivery fee each way) if Ganahl subs it out for you. I couldn't find any closer sandblasting options to south OC who are experienced with lumber (they are ~ 1.5 miles from Angel Stadium), and bottom line - they do GREAT work. I plan to use them soon on a muscle car I am restoring, too. read more

I had another pair of wheels done and just like the first pair they did an excellent job. I was disappointed that the "dreaded" Don has retired; I was looking forward to talking cars with him. His son Paul is now running the place and doing a great job. I asked him about getting the cab of my 41 Willys pick up blasted and told him that another place had told me I'd have to pull the engine and trans out first. He looked at me, laughed and said that shop is just lazy so I'll be taking them another job and am quite sure I'll be completely happy with it. read more

I am in the process of restoring a vintage muscle car. Rather than purchase a sandblast cabinet which would also have required a new air compressor and potentially rewiring my garage, I decided to take a chance on letting the pros do my blasting. Good call. OC Sandblasting work is outstanding, with a fast turnaround and really took care of my parts (which are very hard to find). Never any damage and the parts always look great. I have taken dozens of parts here and the prices have been extremely reasonable. Saved myself a ton of money on equipment and I'm sure they did a much better job than I could have. read more

I took a couple of old exterior lighting fixtures made of metal that were partially rusted and had numerous coats of paint on them. They had been on the exterior of my home for decades. Although they were ugly on the outside we felt like they had some character underneath the layers of paint. We were very pleased with how they came out. Paul and his Dad run the business and their pricing is great and so was the quality of the work. They also recommended a place where we could get the lights power coated which I will take them up on. read more

Terrible customer service, super un-friendly and sexist. I called to get my wood bed frame soda blasted as I wanted to re-stain it a lighter color. The old man who answered proceeded to argue with me if the bed was painted or stained. I kept saying its stained and I've been using stain stripper to take off the stain but it's taking forever and I just wanted it done. Maybe he was old and hard of hearing? But it seemed because I was a girl I didn't know what I was talking about. It seems like a family run place and maybe they don't need the business so they can afford to be rude to people or just women. I will never take anything here again. read more

I have used orange county sandblasting for many years I think they have excellent service the people that are giving them a bad rap only get sandblasting done one time in their life and do not really understand the process. I am a hobby enthusiast that needs sandblasting all the time. The family run business is skilled courteous and reasonable. Take it from someone who actually uses this type of service rather than someone doing a one time project and expects to pay nothing. read more

I have been in the shutter industry for 30 years and have manufactured them for 20. I have NEVER been charged the sq. ft. price for both sides of a shutter - EVER!!!! You cannot sandblast just one side. They made the pricing sound attractive, but in the end it cost me double what I had charged the client. I was simply trying to break even on the sandblasting. It seemed very devious to me and if you are considering using them make sure you know exactly what they are charging BEFORE you get GOUGED!!!! Very disappointed!!!! When I asked him how many shutters he only does one side, he said none. When I sell my shutters it's by sq . ft. I don't charge for both sides!!! So, just beware. read more
