Please save yourself your money and do NOT buy a mattress here. We thought we were buying a great mattress and very disappointed when the one we received was so hard even I, who likes a firm mattress, hate it. I went back to this store, tried the mattress we bought again in the store, which was so soft and plush, but ours is hard and un-giving and I sleep terribly on it. I addressed the issue with a man who told me, "we don't sell that mattress anymore," even though it was right in the middle of the store for sale. He also told me to come back and talk to my salesperson instead. Why bother, they want to charge me for a more expensive mattress from a business that already ripped me off once? No thanks! I would never ever buy a mattress from this place, and probably can't even get $75 for the hard uncomfortable one they sold me for $1,000+, that I can't return. Instead I was told to buy the employee to buy a mattress topper instead, or that maybe it was my sheets or mattress cover were the reason it feels hard. I purchased the EK Diamond The Pearl Lux firm set 11/01/2022 and the middle already feels as though there is no support in the middle. So, it's a year and couple of months old only. DON'T BUY from OC mattress. they only care about commissions/profit. They would not let me exchange my mattress for the only one I wanted in the store, even though I was paying the 20% penalty to make the exchange. They are way more into profits/commissions then the happiness and wellbeing of the customer so I guess they don't care about repeat business either. Originally I wanted to buy a mattress it was about a 1,000.00 it felt great. The sales person kept talking and talking about all the other mattresses and that they had other mattresses that would last longer and that I should give all the mattresses a chance before buying the one I originally liked. I tried all the mattresses. I ended up choosing the company brand mattress it was over 2,000. I asked about the return policy. I was told if I did not like it I could return it but would have to pay 20% fee. After sleeping on my new mattress the first night I tossed and turned constantly, I got no sleep all night. It was way to soft, zero support almost like it was sagging dipping in. It was dipping deep in the center. When I was testing it at the store it felt way different. I called and requested a sleep exchange knowing I was going to have to pay a 20% fee. I went down to the Irvine store to make the exchange. I told the salesman I wanted the original mattress I picked from the start. . The Salesman told me NO and that I had to do the exchange for the same price or higher as my original purchase. and the mattress I wanted was only 1,000.00 he said I needed spend over 2,000.00 I told him I only wanted that 1 mattress in the entire store. I forgot the name but the price was 1,000.00. He told me NO AGAIN. I said ok please find me the mattress I wanted in the higher price range He was not able to find another mattress like the one I wanted. he said they don't have any others that compare to the one I wanted. He then tried to steer me over to the 5,000.00 to 7,000.00 dollar mattresses. He was so greedy and cared nothing about my situation nor was he willing to call a manager to work something out. I asked for store credit, or If I would buy 2 of the 1,000.00 mattresses to total 2,000.00. HE SAID NO, He refused to call a manager or anyone. He then continued trying to sell me a 5,000.00 mattresses that I had no interest in. I was shocked and in disbelief. I went to the main store in Irvine office. I spoke a different sales person at the main store in Irvine and he was unable to help or willing to call a manager. the salesmen would not contact the manager after I asked him to. He said the manager will not allow it, without even speaking to the manager. I guess they speak on behalf of upper management. I have never dealt with a company that was so unprofessional in my life. I actually feel like I was scammed. well I am out 2,700.00 plus for a mattress that is crap. no managers? huh something is really wrong with this place. looks like I will be forced to take further actions. I would give this 0 stars if I could. We got a mattress with a really nice sales guy, Ed (not his fault for the bad review). We had our previous mattress for 20 years but thought we should probably replace it. The mattress we got from Orange County Mattress fell apart after 1 year. We followed the convoluted months long process of having an inspector come out. He saw the bending and caving in the middle. We were told to spend more money on extra slats and stilts in the middle (even though our old mattress never needed that). After we provided pictures of the support (that didn't help) they still said we needed different support. So they just kept telling us it was our fault when clearly the mattress was poor quality and their customer service was terrible. We bought a nice mattress from them and now 2 years later we have to buy a new mattress but clearly not from them. read more

My visit on 2/26/19, late afternoon: The guy greeted me and asked me a few questions on what I was looking for. Based on our conversation, he pointed out a few mattresses to try and we began the process of comparison/elimination until we were down to 2 or 3. He quoted me the prices. This took just a few minutes. I jotted down notes, took pictures, and made it known that I'll be shopping around, doing more research. He said he wanted to sell me a mattress that day. I had NO problem with that statement - typical "level 1" sales pitch. But when I made it clear that I'd like to do my homework and comparison shop, this is what he said, paraphrasing: "One thing I never understood is why people have a hard time making this decision over a mattress. It should be easy. Why do you need to go out and shop around?" Are. You. Kidding. Me? I haven't experienced this kind of sales talk since the 80's-90's. And picking out a mattress is supposed to be easy? Do you know what the person at the next store said, as I was leaving? "My name is Mike, let me know if you need anything," with a cordial smile and a handshake. And the next store after that: "Go out and do all the research you want, come back to me and I'll show you the mattress you're looking for at various budget levels." But this guy, after he said what he did, started to walk away from me, brushing me off. And here I am, asking him 2 last questions as he's walking away, and his responses showed complete disinterest. I mean, really, he was walking away from me and answering questions at a distance. Plain and simple: what a jerk. read more

Phil was our sales person and came down in price increments to a tune of over $1000 in a 20 minute period citing all different reasons for the price breaks. It was worse than a car salesman - but it worked. When the set was delivered, it was the wrong size mattress and wrong depth box spring. He tried to exchange it the next day with a mattress that was the opposite type of the one I ordered. I was given a take it or leave it stance. Delivery guys were super polite and helpful despite my disturbing experience with Phil. BUYER BEWARE! Let me start by saying this, I am not really one to write negative reviews on companies, but appreciate those who have provided their candid feedback in the past and have helped to guide my buying decisions. This experience was SO BAD I have now become INSPIRED to share the facts of my story and let you be the judge of if you still want to do business with the infamous Orange County Mattress. In my experience, initially you will be greeted with a disingenuous smile and empty showroom. The knowledge of the product is limited at best and is just enough to "sell you," so don't ask any follow up third or fourth level questions. You will be asked if you would like a bottle of water while you look around, but go into a bathroom where they don't even have soap to wash your hands because "they just ran out and the shipment didn't come in yet." The sales people have a true used car sales swagger, offering all the sweeteners within a deal to get you off their lot. They will tell you what you need to know but no more to keep you on the hook. In my case, my sales person actually scratched out a portion of the contract when I had a question about the terms and said, "yeah don't worry about that, it doesn't apply." They even went as far as to say, we normally don't do discounts on Tempur-pedic, but I will write it as an exchange discount, so we can get around that. This is where their "proclaimed" customer experience starts to kick in. I was extremely dissatisfied with the bed. There was no adjustment period going to tell me otherwise. Remember all the rule bending I mentioned before, discounts, scratching out terms on the contract, etc, well suddenly they are now all applicable and they throw nothing but rules at you during the exchange. YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS ORANGE COUNTY MATTRESS! Now when there is a customer experience opportunity they become unprofessional and are unequipped to handle it. Funny, never needed to call the "boss" to get permission to close the sale and offer any discount, but now to do a simple "comfort exchange" the boss needs to be consulted. Oh and all the "savings," which aren't really savings if you do your homework like I should have and comparison shop their competitors, guess what, they don't apply anymore because it's an exchange. Basically, you better hope you buy a bed and love it, because if you don't, you are going to be in for a bumpy ride my friend. Again, in my case, all I simply wanted was a comfortable bed, I wasn't asking for special treatment. I was going to be the one taking the hit on the purchase, but because it wasn't "equal or higher value" (the rule book again, which didn't apply at first) the "BOSS" said they were not doing it. So they can do all of these magic tricks to close the sale, but when it comes to taking care of their customers through an exchange and working with PEOPLE with integrity and respect, this is an impossible feat for Orange County Mattress. Their poor values and "used car" tactics are archaic and in a digital age where other companies make the purchase experience seamless in nature, a continuation of these practices will render this company obsolete. To the BOSS, bring in some fresh management that knows how to sincerely drive the customer experience and feels empowered to do so. Know that you are dealing with PEOPLE and their families. There has not been one company who has lasted who has forgotten that fundamental principle. Listen to your employees, who seem distressed and in a toxic work environment. Glassdoor - "The owner is a volatile bully who is verbally abusive. There is no chance for advancement. They make you feel you are lucky to have a job. They show no respect to their employees. The only reason anyone stays is the money. He fires people on a whim just to keep you off guard. They offer no benefits or holiday pay." "No benefits, no paid vacation or accrued time off, 10 hour work day but only get paid for 9. They look for any excuse to dock your commissions and no explanation or breakdown." "No company support or Formal training, no traffic in many stores leading to very long boring days yet if you have blank days they blame you for not selling." "Company does no advertising resulting in no traffic most days. Can be very slow. Pay can vary widely each month. Nothing is computerized. No communication between stores. Cannot provide feedback to upper management." Culture is driven from the top. As the owner you are responsible for providing a healthy culture for your employees and thus providing an enjoyable buying environment for your customers. You know how to reach me to make this situation right, but more importantly, change the culture of your stores to treat future hard working buyers with the dignity and respect they deserve throughout the ENTIRE sale. Don't just make a buck and move on or you will soon find your stores even more emptier than they are now. read more

What do you look in a retailer? Respect? Integrity? Honesty? Buy used cars from those places with the Banners and the paint on the windshield ?? Well, They've got their match in a mattress store sadly my experience didn't add to to much at OC. In spite of trying to make it work After agreeing on a price, the price changed in less than a week After agreeing on a warrantee. It evaporated Irony. Warrantees are paid for by the manufacturer. So that feels like a method of gouging. Realize that mark ups are huge. Look on line and educate yourself. Negotiate. At OC they're not willing to stand behind what they agreed to. And that is a problem for alot of educated consumers. So be warned and read all the reviews before you part with your hard earned cash. The good news. Found the Identical mattress elsewhere for less For a lot lot less. And the buying process was a breeze. The store was great and I was happy.
