Laptop suddenly shut down, wouldn't start - found this company on Yelp - I was in same day, and within 1.5 days they were able to get it up and running again at VERY low cost! The day before our old server would not start up and when we finally got it to start it was giving us the Blue Screen of Death "RECOVERY NEED". We took it to OC Computer Services in Lake Forest, Alex explained that sometimes these things could not be fixed but he would try. Four hours later he called and said it was fixed, and that he had downloaded all the data to a new drive that would work even better than the old one and put in a new power source. Talked to Alex again after saw his response. Totally understand they are closed on weekend, and that was not an issue while I reviewed. Seems the one who picked up the phone this morning got a misunderstanding on the procedure. It was a great conversation with Alex and got the quick quotation I wanted at the very beginning so I could compare and pick the final one on my screen replacement. I seldom give a bad review. But have to this time. I asked for quote to replace the crack screen of my laptop. They didn't response from Yelp so end up I called them. I briefed them my laptop works good except the screen was crack sine it operate perfectly after I connect it to an outside screen. The only request I wish to get from them is a quick quotation to replace the screen. However, the guy who is on the phone keep saying that I have to pay $85 inspection fee to get the laptop checked before they could give me a quotation......even I told them I don't mind paying the inspection fee if I decide to go with them, but now I want to get a quick quotation on screen replacement if that was the only issue I did need, I also told he I could bring my laptop in or sent him the mode number of my laptop if they need to check the part price. Guess what? He still insists I have to pay $85 before he could give me a quotation...... Well.....I have no idea on their requirement, but how come you need to pay non refundable $85 to get a quick quote on a quick service? At least doesn't seem make any sense to me when customer want a quick quote to compare with other service provider. If I could give 0 star, I will ! read more

After dealing with a "cluster" of an experience at a competing "computer repair business" (hint: has a similar name, but with "Guys" in the title, and it's in Tustin) I found OC Computer on Google, and decided to give them a try. I spoke with Michelle on the phone, and she was very courteous, straightforward, and knowledgeable about replacing the "DC jack" on my laptop. I then decided to 'drop-in' on a Saturday, and the rep--also knowledgeable and polite--pretty much confirmed that the DC jack was loose (had seen it a number of times, was familiar with the problem) and would either have to be re-soldered, or replaced entirely--and that might take some extra time, on account of having to order the part. The one caveat I'll say about DROPPING off on the weekend: it's just that. Saturdays are reserved for pickup/dropoff only (their resident tech works M-F, so if you can hold off parting with your PC until Monday...do that). This next part bears mentioning because it further highlights the quality of the business: At one point, Alex (the proprietor) and I had a 'misunderstanding' about the time-frame for repair--I was under the impression that it would be completed by X, he and his staff thought Y, wires got crossed, etc. etc. When all was said and done, he was very accommodating, understood my frustration, and took measures to send me out the door a happy customer. All-in-all, the owner is proud of his company, and that will always manifest itself in a quality finished product. Should things go awry, they're quick to remedy the situation. These guys are AWESOME! My computer screen "died" on my "all in one" desktop computer and there was no way for me to retrieve any of my documents photos. A friend recommended Orange County Computer, Inc. in Lake Forest, so I called them. They were very helpful and told me they could transfer everything on my hard drive to my new lap top computer. My experience with this company and Alex are as great as previous reviews stated. Long story short, I dropped off my laptop, which had been acting up, and paid $85 for a 2 to 3 day response. Two days later, Alex called to say that the mother board was shot and Alex told me that replacing the mother board would be the same cost as buying a new computer. He also mentioned, without sounding like he was TRYING to sell me something, that he had some used computers available if I were interested. I am NOT a techy and I was interested. It was such a relief not to have to go to the store and try and figure out what to do. Also the price was right. Alex took another day to transfer all of my data onto the refurbished computer and he did not charge me for the data transfer. Within 3 days, I had my life back. This company advertises for hourly IT services. But they are not truly interested in performing hourly services. As soon as the representative called, he tried repeatedly (and aggressively) to "sell me" on a virtual office that entailed a $150/month service plan. All I was looking for was to transfer some data and programs and to set up one office. The representative then tried to sell me on the plan by claiming the set up of a single office might take 5-10 hours (at $185 per hour). When I said that I could not imagine how the set up of a single office (2 computers and two printers) could take more than a couple hours, he told me that we were "not communicating well" and indicated he was not interested in the business. So it appears they advertise for hourly services, only to try to up-sell you on an unnecessary monthly plan once you call -- and if you say no, they essentially say they are not interested in the work. Update: Since posting this review, I received a voicemail from "Alex" from Orange County Computer complaining that my review would negatively affect his business, demanding that I remove the review, and threatening that if I didn't, he would file a complaint against me (???) with the State Bar -- apparently in an effort to negatively effect MY business (although he apparently has no idea what the State Bar is or actually does). I guess that is why there are so few negative reviews of this company on Yelp. Despite the threat, I stand by my original review. read more

As a College student my computer is a necessity. Right at the end f of my semester, my computer would just not turn on. After doing some research online and calling various other places I decided to give Orange County Computer a try. Since I was taking a winter Online course I needed my computer back right away. Luckily they offer express service. They gave a call within a few hours letting me know the power supply was bad and I got my computer back the next day!
