Background Attended a Sunday afternoon Mother's Day game against Pittsburgh . Weather was initially cool, cloudy and windy, but turned sunny and warmer just as the game started. Had field level seats near home plate with a view directly down third-base line. Great game. Giants came from two-runs down three separate times including in extra innings. Pirates ultimately walked the plank 7-6. Stadium Wonderful open outfield view of the bay, including the now famous giant Coke bottle, glove, and McCovey Cove. It's a fun stadium to walk around and take in the sighs. Packed house, loud and avid fanbase. I loved the jammin' organist. Very accessible, whether from foot, car, bike (valet service!), train, or yes, ferry or water taxi. I suppose you could even moor your yacht at the nearby marina. Food Sadly, the hot dogs were not good. Regular dog was bland, bacon-wrapped dog was burnt and the spicy dog tasted very much like the canned tamales I hated as a child. So avoid the dogs, there's plenty of other options. Outfield has a popular crab sandwich stand that had a very lengthy line, so get there early. What's Unusual We met a brother of one of the umpires during our stay here, that was cool and unique. Summary One of the best ballparks in the country, a must-see for your SF vacation itinerary.

"Kezar Stadium" is usually not brought up in conversations these days considering this place isn't frequented as much as previous decades. Located at the southeastern corner of Golden Gate Park off of Lincoln Way and Stanyan St., this historic multi-purpose stadium that is used for has been in operation ever since breaking ground way back in 1925. Since it was a little early for dinner, I came here on a whim during the afternoon of Friday 11/29/2024 at around 5:00pm. I parked nearby on Lincoln Way but there is a dedicated lot that is adjacent to the main entrance. Much to my surprise, this entire stadium is open to the public while the standard stadium hours are from 6:30am-10pm. What I particularly liked is how clean the grounds are here with an excellent running/jogging track, well-manicured natural grass on the field, a fully functional scoreboard w/public restrooms, and a respectable amount of seating on both sides of the field. From its long history, this stadium once seated up to 60,000 fans from 1925 until 1989; most notably the San Francisco 49ers that used it from 1946 to 1970. There has also been numerous collegiate games held here as well as track & field, rugby, lacrosse, soccer, and much more. The previous stadium was demolished in 1989 and downsized and rebuilt to its current setup that only seats a fraction of what it once seated at around 10,000 fans. These days, the stadium still holds graduation ceremonies, soccer matches, and various high school football games. All in all, "Kezar Stadium" is a piece of San Francisco history as it is located in a much quieter part of the city and away from all the hustle and bustle. All in all, I encourage everyone to check this place out if you haven't already. The grounds are kept very clean while the entire layout (even though this is a very densely populated city) to be spacious and open. My rating, an above average four stars.

Now, the seating is great, the prices a tad high for the seats, but it is really super nice. There are no lines for food and they have the best from craft beers to the most wonderful crab sandwiches and pizza and brisket sandwiches. You want it they have it there--as the entire park does--but this is really cool. The service is great and they will get you whatever you need and you have a great place to see the game or a concert, but again, the food. There is just not a better stadium to eat at. It is all perfect and the food is at a fair price for what you get. We just love it and go whenever we can afford Club Level. Usually, we are in the cheap seats, but who cares, have fun and don't eat until you get there.

The presentation and taste felt more like a basic tuna salad you'd get at Subway rather than a fresh, quality seafood dish you'd expect at a ballpark in San Francisco. They used shredded lettuce as the base, which made it feel cheap, and the crab was mixed with mayo--definitely not what I was hoping for. It lacked that fresh, bright flavor that a good crab Louis should have. We also ordered the chicken tenders and fries from Derby Grill. The chicken tenders were surprisingly skinny and underwhelming, but the fries actually had good flavor and ended up being the highlight of that order. While the food was not so great overall, the seats were amazing. The location offered a fantastic view of the game and the sea--you could even watch ships passing by, which made the experience feel special despite the disappointing food. Overall, come for the views, not the food.

I think you do. which is why, roller derby lives again! it is a ridiculously entertaining cross between WWF and NASCAR, with funky, 70's realness, 4 wheeled skates (remember those?) and an enthusiastic crowd which was mostly families and hipsters when i went. roller derby is not something I know much about, I am not the WWF type, and I have never seen the reality show (Rollergirls?) so i was pretty clueless about what was going on--but it doesn't matter. you really don't have to know the rules to enjoy it. Just have some drinks and watch the girls (and guys) in shorts fly around the banked track, knocking each other down and doing a milder version of WWF-style takedowns, complete with skate kicks, flipping out of the ring, and generally scrubbing out on a regular basis. But don't worry, kids, the violence isn't real. The fans (who presumably do know what is going on, unlike me) are very enthusiastic, there is a scoreboard and everything, and the overall effect is the fun part of a sporting event, but on fast forward. and with hair-pulling. Also the skating itself takes talent, and is pretty amazing. And they all have great nicknames. I don't think they sell drinks there (maybe beer?) so make sure you get some drinks beforehand (pick a bar, any bar, on haight street, or kezar pub is right across the street from the entrance, if you like crowded smelly sports bars). or sneak drinks in, there was no security check. There is a parking lot next door, in case you can't find anything on the street. The tickets are around $10, the seating is bleacher style, and if you are from SF, you are rooting for the Bay City Bombers--colors are orange and black, like the giants. Last time I went to root for my friend Ron, #30 (Roll, Ronny, Roll!) and we made our own signs and fit right it. If i remember right, you can get sodas and popcorn there, not much else. For $10, this is something fun and different to do on a Sat night. And, it is over at 10 or 10:30, plenty of time to go out after. The next "bout" is Sat Aug 18th @ 8PM at Kezar. And if you really like it, they have open track times for the general public/ training. There is more information on the (awful) website: baycitybombers.com
