    Large Black Iced Coffee
    James J.

You can toss in some quirky decor, have a drive-thru, or a few other pluses to max out the awesomeness of a coffee shop, but without great coffee, cozy space, and quick service you're doomed to fail. Opus coffee brings their A-game with a tasty brew, swiftness, and plenty of room to enjoy your drink. The Space Housed within the 39th Ave Medical Plaza, Opus Coffee does not immediately feel accessible to the public, though it most certainly is. Walking through the Medical building doors the shop is straight ahead. Their nook occupies a really nice area of this entrance and, since the walls are glass, sitting down to enjoy your drink is quite nice. I can't imagine you'd ever be without a spot to plop if you needed one, even when really busy. The Service I strolled up to no line and no attitude what so ever. The barista took my order with a smile, made sure to ask how I like my iced coffee, and whipped it up before I had a chance to pay the person working the register. That's exactly what you want when you're seeking out your first cup of morning go-go juice. The Goods As mentioned, I scored an iced coffee on a typical, fierce Gainesville day. You can immediately tell they care about their beans and brewing because this was a notably strong, smooth cup. I'm not the type to inject my java with sugar, milk, or other mess because I genuinely like how coffee tastes, but their menu looked pretty accommodating for those that like coffee with their caramel/chocolate/whipped cream. Final Thoughts This place hit me with a feeling of "this is what Starbucks must have been like before it went viral and lost itself." Clean, quick, high in variety but without slacking on the core principles I mentioned at the start. Opus isn't close by and I'd consider it hidden with it's location IN a medical building, but I found zero reason to not come back if I'm nearby.

    Beautiful coffee sleeves!

I really like the initiatives that they support through their coffee sleeves and how they're all different, their environmental focus, and their nice employees. Unfortunately, to me, the coffee is pretty weak and that's for sure a big factor. This is definitely a convenient location for UF Health employees and patients, though, so they definitely fulfill that demand!

I always come and get the frozen fit foray. The staff is really nice and knowledgeable and can give great recommendations. It's in the lobby of my dermatologist's office so anytime I come, I look forward to getting one.

My boyfriend got a cappuccino with strawberry syrup but we didn't really taste the strawberry in his. Regardless, it was delicious. We also got one of their biscotti which seemed like they made in house but I'm not sure. It was yummy, but definitely was not a very traditional recipe. It tasted more like a short bread than a biscotti but still very yummy. We walked out to the food truck to get some vegan bites and they definitely met expectations. The crabby patty was delicious with a great texture, and my boyfriends patty melt was also super good. We shared a mac and cheese and honestly I was full before we even got to that. The Mac and cheese was great but did taste a lot like coconut so if you're not into that then maybe veer away. The ambience was a mixed bag. The initial shop that you order the coffee in had a very cozy vibe with great decor. If you walk past the patio into the overflow seating the vibe changes a ton. The decor felt very uncanny valley, back rooms, like very odd. I think they need to work on that side of the property a little bit and make it more cozy. Maybe it's a work in progress or maybe they like it that way, I'm not sure, but it wasn't the sort of vibe that made me want to stick around. Overall great experience though! Will be coming back & hopefully I can get seating in the main shop ;)

I came with a friend for dinner and we got food from the food truck, where all of the menu options are 100% plant-based. I got the mojo tacos and for my chosen protein I went with the fried fishless filet. The two tacos came on corn tortillas with pico de gallo, queso fresco, pickled red onion, mojo sauce, and lime. Each bite was so refreshing! The lime gave a citrus kick to the sweet pickled red onions. The fried fishless fish was tender and flaky like real white fish. I was thoroughly impressed with Curia and think it's one of the most unique places in Gainesville. Check it out!

They also have outdoor seating on the patio out front. Concord Coffee offers a nice selection of drinks with unique syrups, etc. Although I didn't order coffee this time, I would be willing to try it in the future! The staff is super friendly and helpful. Their pastry case is limited and I believe they get their baked goods from somewhere local. I wasn't sure what to get and the worker recommended any of their pastries, as opposed to their bagels, as they were delivered fresh today. I ended up ordering the cinnamon roll, she heated it up and that took about 5 minutes. The cinnamon roll itself wasn't anything super special. The dough reminded me more of that of a croissant due to its flakier consistency. The glaze on top was light and the cinnamon inside was underwhelming. I still didn't have a problem with it until I reached the center. I noticed the center wasn't fully heated up and even felt slightly cold. But my biggest issue was the fact that the dough in the center was very much raw. It was not cooked/baked through at all. Disappointing to say the least. I would not return for a pastry or baked good, as I believe you can find better ones around the area for a better price. But I would return to try the coffee. Overall, I think Concord Coffee is a super cute coffee shop located in midtown. The staff is really sweet and helpful as well. I thought the inside was clean and I appreciated the decor. With that that being said, I would stick to beverages as opposed to their food items. My cinnamon roll was anything but special, I feel like one from Publix would have left me more satisfied. By biggest issue was definitely the fact that it wasn't baked through and raw in the center. I will get around to trying their coffee at some point in the future.

Coffee Culture isn't into that bananas behavior either and that's why you should definitely stop by. The hours are incredible for that afternoon caffeine high need or an evening study sesh. The decor is just a chill, come as you are good old mom and pop coffee shop vibe. None of the over manufactured perfectly branded hooplah. This place feels like HOME. The coffee isn't some grand level of masterful craft specialty coffee creation, but it's good and it's worth what you get and the flavors are always fun and seasonal.
