When all I said was that I did schedule the pain management place they referred me to. I cannot fathom trusting this place or these foul people to ever work on my spine. It's a blessing to search for proper care elsewhere before I let these people actually do anything. I will be filling a complaint with the medical board regarding negligence.

Went here today. Been here before. Both times the front desk workers have been bad. They have…read moreattitude. They insist on me filling out things or doing things that are unnecessary or that I've already done and then do petty things to mess things up. So, before my appointment today I filled out everything about me and my medical health online during a lengthy checkin process. It took me 30 minutes to fully complete it. When I arrived today the woman helping me wanted me to manually fill out paperwork with all of the same information and I refused and said you've already got it all and I'm not filling out duplicate information. She insisted on me giving them my insurance card when I don't have an actual card. I have my info. I've never needed my card. They always have my insurance number and company and info and do not need my physical card or a copy of it to bill the insurance company. But she was insistent and i told her the above. I asked her to cancel an upcoming appointment with another doctor there about this point. In fact I asked her twice to cancel it. She said she would. I got called back for the pulmonologist and he was actually fine. No issues. Come back out to make a followup appointment before I leave per the doctor. Make it with another lady there. I then asked her if the appointment with the other doctor there was canceled like I requested and she said no it was not. I told her to cancel it. She did. She set the followup appointment with me. I left. The previous lady did not cancel it like she said she would. Sigh. I get a text after I left saying the appointment I just made had been moved to the day prior than what I just made. I suspect the First Lady with a bad attitude moved it just to be petty. This is awful customer service. Just not a good experience. She was power tripping. Had an attitude and did things to be petty and to screw with me and my medical stuff. It was a lot of unnecessary friction. A simple check in at the front desk of any medical office should be easy and pleasant. I'd give zero stars because it was that bad. But one star is for the doctor because he was ok. Also, Dr. Hsing their sleep doctor is not a good doctor if you have a circadian sleep disorder like DSPD or DSPS or Non-24 or other. His treatment of me and my condition was the worst I've ever encountered and I've seen many sleep doctors over the years. He is completely backwards about treating those type of disorders and gave bad advice and no realistic help or treatment to me at all. I am extremely knowledgeable about Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder and treatment protocols and he is just absolutely wrong. Attached is the plan he came up with that if he tried to follow it himself he couldn't. It's an impossible plan. If you have DSPD or N24 I'd run to another doctor and skip this place. He's their only sleep doctor. Unfortunately. He may be ok for sleep apnea but not for circadian rhythm sleep disorders. He covers all of their locations. Anyway. Front desk is a real piece of work. I will not be going back after I'm done with the pulmonologist I saw today and the stuff he ordered to get done. In the future I'll find somewhere else to go. I would probably advise the same to anyone reading this.

She is consistently competent, thorough, smart, and efficient, all while showing genuine care and concern for her patients. Recently, Dr. Liang and Hannah truly came through for me when the clock was ticking -- what a team! I had less than a day to get a provider‑completed oxygen form sent to British Airways in London to ensure I could board a flight the next business day. With the time difference, the window was even smaller. When I realized late at night that this form was required, I got zero sleep. I called the office first thing in the morning, and they were immediately on it. Dr. Liang completed the form quickly, and Hannah called me right away with the necessary questions. Thanks to their urgency and dedication, the form reached London before the deadline. In a pinch, you want a doctor who is not only exceptionally skilled, but one who will take time out of an already busy day to help a patient in need. Dr. Liang is exactly that doctor. Thank you to Dr. Ni‑Cheng Liang, Hannah, and everyone at Scripps Coastal Pulmonology. Your commitment made all the difference.

My OB's office recommended I go to the ER for IV fluids and an ultrasound because I was also having ongoing light spotting and abdominal cramping that wouldn't let up. Dr. Besser made us feel like we were overreacting for even being there. He said people get sick like this all the time and seemed dismissive of how sick I actually was. When I asked about the ultrasound my OB had recommended (due to the spotting and cramping), he told us it was rare to do an ultrasound in the ER and made us feel crazy for requesting one. His bedside manner was poor, I did not feel heard or taken seriously at a time when I was very sick, dehydrated, and just needed fluids, medication, and some peace of mind about the pregnancy. When I finally got a bed for fluids and was eventually given an ultrasound, nobody went over the results with me. Dr. Besser never came back to see me again. I will add my nurses were amazing and I was highly satisfied with them along with the other staff. I love Scripps La Jolla and my OB team. Just highly disappointed with this Er dr and how he responded to us.

I don't think I've ever physically gone into their office, or emailed with their office, and come out of the experience with an answer or a solution. I've dealt with MANY frustrating messages back and forth with his staff (he rarely messages patients) who hardly even perform their jobs at a bare minimum- they'll respond to messages within 48 hours, but they will not help you in any way unless you make an appointment, which brings in money for their office. One example is that I had a battery of labs completed to address abdominal discomfort I was having- and Dr. Italiano emailed me saying everything looked great, regardless of multiple readings being out of the "normal" range. I specifically pointed this out to him, and his staff responded saying if I wanted to address a new concern I'd have to schedule an appointment. A couple days ago I was asking them for help viewing a form they had sent me through their app, they responded that I had to view it in "the portal", and when I asked them what/where this "portal" was (in the app or somewhere else), they messaged me back saying they could no longer assist me and if I wanted anything I had to call their records department (who have also proven to be completely incompetent in the past). This office drops the ball in every way, and they only care about making money off office visits. They do not care about you or your health, and only want to line their pockets with the money your insurance provider pays out for endless office visits. I will absolutely be changing my PCM, because I'm so tired of dealing with this staff.

I know that Dr. David Haffie has many satisfied patients. I urge more of them to write reviews as…read moreit tends to be the dissatisfied who write the most. When that happens, they become the noisy minority and Dr. Haffie ends up with a much lower rating than he deserves. Crap happens to everyone from time to time. For all those people know, it may have been completely out of Doctor Haffie's control. Sometimes, as is often the case on review sites like Amazon, the dissatisfaction is due to a person simple being an, uh, arse orifice. I have been a patient of Dr. Haffie for two years and it has been a very excellent experience. I had my previous family doctor for almost 10 years and should have dumped him long before that. He was not a bad doctor - he knew his business - but he would not slow down and listen. He worked for Arch Health Partners in Poway and THEY overbooked him and pushed him to keep the numbers up. I kind of think he wanted to slow down, but he could not for fear of reprimand from his own superiors. Therefore, I'd sit in the waiting area for up to an hour per visit only to have him breeze in and breeze out of the exam room before I barely had a chance to say diddly. But at El Norte Medical Center, Dr. Haffie has ALWAYS given me all the time that I need for him to fully cover my concerns, answer all of my questions and build a complete diagnosis. He builds up a rapport with people and uses that to help his diagnosis because he actually gets to know you and all of your unique foibles. When done with the exam, Dr. Haffie always stops and asks, "Is there anything more before I go?" Now THAT is a family doctor I can keep for life (pun intended). P.S. - If have never experienced any problems with the office staff. P.S.S. - Every doctor I have ever visited in my 56 years of life has run late from time to time. It's the nature of the job they do. Some days it's due to an emergency or a problematic patient. More often it is a result of overbooking which is not the doctor's fault when he does not own the practice, as is the case at El Norte Medical Center. In addition, due to crap medical insurance payout, enormous overhead and out of control malpractice insurance costs, Family doctors don't make bank anymore. They have to see a lot of patients to just cover costs. I do not blame them for being late from time to time. Nobody is perfect. Not even me, for heaven's sake!

As a l first time patient I was ok with that and left my office extra early to be there on time. I was let into the exam 3 minutes early...I was thinking I had found a great Dr Office. As the girl who took my BP and temp left the exam room I asked her what she thought about Dr Haffie and she said he was great. I was looking forward to talking to a doctor for the first time in quite a few years. But then I proceeded to wait an additional 45 minutes before even seeing this guy. He walks in with no apology, no explanation, no nothing. He took no time to review any of the forms I spent 20 minutes filling out and instead decided to ask a couple questions about allergies to medicine and if I was taking any medication. I was irritated by his tardiness, and I am sure it was apparent, but I was not rude by any means. After all, I still wanted a productive visit. He asked me what I was there for and I told him I wanted to establish care, I wanted a plan to be healthy, and I had a spot on my side my girlfriend asked me to get looked at. He asked if I had blood labs done recently (which I had done 3 months prior through work...documented on the forms) he asked if I had recently had a tetanus booster. I said I had not (which was also on the forms). And he basically said that was about all he could do. He didn't even mention my high blood pressure reading or the fact that I am a little overweight for my height and could benefit from losing a few pounds. I basically saw him for less than 5 minutes and then he was basically scrambling to get out the door. I do not usually write reviews and I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but this interaction genuinely irritated me if for no other reason than I left work 2 hours early. I work hard and now I am going to need to play catch up tomorrow because I wasted that time today. I understand when people get behind schedule. It happens to all of us who work by appointment. But Dr Haffie (who is probably in his 50s or 60s) seemed like an awkward teenager who couldn't look me in the eye after being late. TO DR. HAFFIE: BE A PROFESSIONAL, APOLOGIZE FOR BEING LATE, AND THEN CONTINUE TO GIVE EXCELLENT MEDICAL CARE. HELL, MAKE SOMETHING UP AS AN EXCUSE IF YOU HAVE TO. YOU COULDA BEEN SAVING A LIFE BEFORE YOU SAW ME. I COULD UNDERSTAND THAT. YOU COULDA BEEN DEALING WITH A SERIOUS ILLNESS THAT NEEDED EXTRA TIME...NO PROBLEM. YOU COULDA JUST BEEN SPENDING EXTRA TIME WITH SOMEONE WHO GENUINELY NEEDED YOUR MEDICAL ATTENTION AND REASSURANCE. I WOULD BE OK WITH ALL THOSE EXCUSE AND MORE. JUST DON'T WASTE MY TIME WHILE I WAIT AND THEN WASTE MORE OF IT BY SAYING NOTHING AND DOING NOTHING WHILE IN THE EXAM ROOM. Thank you Yelp for giving me a place to vent...I feel a little better now.
