Imagine paying for a Netflix subscription where you think the movies are free to watch after making…read moreyour monthly subscription fee, but you later receive a bill for hundreds of dollars because one of the actors in the movie you watched was not licensed by Netflix. This is how it is dealing with Scripps and healthcare in 2026. Beware of Scripps Health! This is an elaborate money-making scheme where they assure you that you will not be billed for things and then perform services that aren't needed for insane prices. They then threaten to send you to collections because the services they provided (that no one asked for and they recommended) were not actually covered by your insurance. We took our three healthy children to the doctor for an annual wellness check. They were not sick, had no complaints and did not have any specific reason to go to the doctor other than a simple annual wellness check. We were not at the clinic for more than an hour but somehow Scripps racked up a bill of over $4,000 -- just for a simple wellness check!? Insurance only covered a small amount and now they're threatening to take us to a collection agency over these unwanted and unrequested "services" because they said the physician they assigned to us was "not in network." How are we supposed to know one physician at your office would be covered by our insurance but the other one you assigned to us is not? Before going to Scripps, we called in advance to ask our insurance company if Scripps did a free wellness check. They said "yes." We then called Scripps to ask if the wellness check would be covered by our insurance and we wouldn't have any additional charges at the visit -- they said "no additional charges." Then at the counter my wife asked one more time if we would be charged for any of the services and they said "we can't know every insurance policy and what is covered. If it's not covered, you'll get a bill." They didn't even check to see if the physician they assigned us was within our network. Fast forward a few weeks later and we're asked to pay over $1,850 for three healthy kids without any issues? Buyer beware!

My appointments with her and Maurine Satterwhite, Nurse Practitioner were excellent! They are extremely knowledgeable, very efficient, and caring! It is never easy switching insurance providers, but I feel relieved that I made a great quality choice for my husband and myself as their new patients. The staff is also nice and the location is in a beautiful, safe area of Oceanside near my home. They are affiliated with Optum Insurance and they also offer a patient online secure portal to expedite more communication etc. The lab is close by and they are also networked with Tri-City Hospital, a local Urgent Care facility, and Specialists located within a few miles from their office. After scores of Doctors in LA, multiple surgeries and no end in sight to my dilemma, Dr. Lawrence didn't get all full of his own ego and promise the world; rather he said he hoped to be able to resolve my pain and promised he'd make me healthier. And that is the key, it is about health not sickness. It is about t-h-r-i-v-i-n-g, not just getting by. I write with certainty that I would not feel as good as I do as I write this, had I not joined the Revive practice. I recommend you do what you have to do and go through all the specialists your own doctors send you to, but when you are fed up with being treated because you are sick, go get healthy with Dr. Lawrence. It is very frustrating especially for a first time mom. They simply don't do what they say they will. I have more examples but I think I've made my point.
