Dr. Kakimoto has been my (Male-50's) PCP for over a decade and I am very happy with the care provided by her. Dr. Kakimoto is thorough, always takes her time to explain things and patiently answers any questions I have. I never felt rushed, quite the opposite. It is indeed challenging to schedule an appointment within a reasonably short amount of time with any of the MDs, I attribute that to the general shortage in MDs and nothing specific to Dr. Kakimoto. Dr. Kakimoto is one of the most dismissive and unprofessional physicians I've encountered. I'm in healthcare as well, and understand that physicians are busy and the healthcare system can be frustrating. However, she rushes through appointments, shows little interest in listening to patient concerns, and refuses to provide appropriate referrals. Her demeanor is cold, condescending, and makes it difficult to trust her judgment or feel cared for. As a primary care doctor, she completely fails to meet the basic expectations of attentiveness and support. Additionally, half the time I scheduled with her, I would only see a PA or someone else in the office. Several times, either she or whoever worked under her would provide straight-up incorrect information i.e. regarding breast cancer risk factors. I would strongly advise others to seek care elsewhere if you value being heard and treated with respect. read more

First time meeting her after complaining of left side leg pain and debilitation, she had me go home, told me I probably had Covid and that I looked seriously Ill and to go home and rest. Really? What doctor tells this to a patient? Blood work ordered but no focus on my leg pain. No X-ray or MRI offered. She said if I still felt sick to go to ER? Second time meeting with her. She was once again dismissive, somewhat rude, showing no empathy or compassion. I felt like I was taking up her time in her busy day. She never was able to help me (with pain in left leg, hip area). She took all I said personally and defensive. Aren't doctors supposed to be trained or educated to deal with patients under pain? Again, No regard to pain I was having. No X-ray or MRI was offered. I had to ask for a physical therapy referral via online. I felt like I was diagnosing myself. She told me she didn't need new patients if I left and that she was one of the partners. Wow. Doctors need CARE model training or a refresher course if they want to keep their patients. She had the worst medical professional manners. Her words were just plain mean. I love Dr. Amy Kakimoto ! She has been my primary care physician for almost ~1.5 years and I'm honestly glad to have her as my doctor. First off, I was researching a physician who supports a plant-based vegan diet and also accepts my insurance. I was referred to Dr. Kakimoto through an acquaintance. I was able to schedule my very first annual exam effortlessly. You can do this online or by phone. Staff seemed very friendly and welcoming from the moment I arrived. Be prepared to fill out some forms and bring your insurance info., but good enough the wait wasn't that long to see the doctor. Dr. Kakimoto made a good first impression. She made me feel comfortable and listened to all my concerns and provided me with resources and knowledgeable advice. I value her expertise and am confident that she really cares about my well-being. She's very open-minded and I appreciate her professionalism and attentive nature and care. She's also quick to respond (within a few days) through the online messaging system whenever I had concerns. If she couldn't get to me, another staff member would. I've also had my blood work done here and the referral process has been timely and stress-free. Blood work results, appointments, messaging, and other important info. can be found in their online system. Very convenient ! I'm sure she's a busy woman (as like most doctors), but I appreciate the fact that she doesn't treat you as a number. She really does her best to understand her patients and offer constructive advice on how to best take care of your health. She definitely practices what she preaches, because she too enjoys a plant-based diet for the most part. She's a believer that true health starts from within. Amy Kakimoto was my primary care physician from 2017-2020. I was 32-33 years old and I wanted to talk to her about my fertility. She asked if we were actively trying, and I had told her not just yet, but that I was a planner and was a bit anxious about it since I was in my 30s and a bit overweight. She literally laughed in my face and told me that my anxiety and planning for fertility might cause my partner (who is now my husband) not want to be with me to even have a baby - so I should wait until we actively start trying. I felt shocked, embarrassed and belittled. I never went back but admit that I actually listened to her incompetent "medical advice". Fast forward to 2023 where my husband and I are now actively struggling with fertility for almost 2 years, I felt it a public obligation to let you know that a google search and WebMD care more about your health concerns than she ever will. If Amy Kakimoto had done her duty as a primary CARE physician instead of mocking my health concerns, we might have had a healthy jump start to our parenting journey. Dr. Kakimoto was a good doctor. A bit rushed as previously mentioned. My strong disappointment was with her office practices which I hope she has some influence to change. Specifically, upon visiting for as annual checkup, I was informed that I owed a copay (one of the few things that no longer requires a copay under the new ACA legislation). When I asked why, they said Dr Kakimoto provides an enhanced checkup beyond that of a standard checkup. When I asked what were the extra procedures the office clerk was unable to name a single thing and said I would have to ask the doctor. This presumptive close, upsell seems both unethical and poorly executed. The kind of thing you expect from a used car salesman. Also, under current policy, if you mention any ailment to the doctor, your checkup will be considered a regular office visit with payment due accordingly. This strongly discourages patients from engaging honestly in their current health status. Both of the above practices seem both unethical and focused on maximizing revenue instead of patient's health. With people seeking preventative care so infrequently, this is yet another business impediment to improving health care and lowering costs. I would strongly recommend not visiting this office until these practices aimed at revenue over patient health are changed. read more

Yelp for a Dr. Review, I know maybe not the best medium but I found Dr. Kakimoto on Yelp so maybe you will too. Like all Doctors Dr. Kakimoto overworked and in my 5+ visits with her she can be rushed like any other doctor if her schedule is crazy. So be realistic on what can expect from a Primary Care Dr. who's is limited. With that said I LOVE Dr. Kakimoto. She really cares, I mean she really, really cares. I was diagnosed with a very rare auto immune called Behcets. It's a horrible condition but with some help from Dr. Kakimoto and others , I'm doing better. Behcets is a very frustrating condition because there is no test and one will have many, many visits to the Doctors before it's figured out. As soon as I had my out break of mouth ulcers , Dr. Kakimoto had the had the good intuition to have that possible diagnosis explored. Sadly her notion was correct , but it could have taken 3X as long to get a diagnosis if it were not for her inquiry. She has been so supportive and helpful during this challenging time in my life. Dr Kakimoto is very nice but impossible to see. The office is horrible. I never receive results of my tests in a timely manner. Several times I've had to call the office to ask for results and the response has always been "Dr is on vacation. I see we've had your results for a while." Disappointing, to say the least. read more

I love Dr. Kakimoto as a physician and she is amazing - I cannot say enough good things about her! However, it is very very difficult to schedule an appointment with her. I had to wait three months to get an appointment with her. When I later scheduled a physical, she needed to call and cancel, but the time I was rescheduled for I could not make. When I tried to pick a date I could make, the scheduling office said I would have to wait until 2016 - it is currently August 2015! in short, she is a great Doctor, but only pick her if you are not planning to see her often and are okay with waiting several weeks (or months) in order to get an appointment. read more

I threw my back out and needed to see someone for the pain. The office said they could give me an appointment in 4 days. Seriously? Dr. Kakimoto is impossible to see but even getting in to see a resident physician is impossible. This office seemingly does not care about the urgency of your issues. Additionally, even with an appointment, I still had to wait almost an hour in the waiting room to see someone. I would not recommend them. read more

She actively listened and my son felt like a heavy burden was lifted from him by the time he left the office. Dr.Kakimoto was referred to me by my gyn. I'd been looking for a new primary care doctor for a while. I left my old doctor, who I'd seen for years, because he was constantly running late (I'm talking WAY late, like 45 minutes to over an hour, and this was happening consistently. I'll spot anyone 5 or even 10 minutes, but I can't stand a professional who thinks his time is more valuable than mine!). Well I had my 1st appt with Dr. K and I'm so happy to report she was on schedule. She is also very personable, she took her time with me and did a very thorough H&P.
