Dr. was more concerned with my BMI than my actual health history that includes multiple surgeries, multiple cancers, and pending biopsy results. My bodyfat percentage is 22% but because of my muscle mass, my weight is considered high. Dr. made multiple notes in my chart about my weight and needing to work out without asking me how much I currently work out, which is more than his recommendation. When I asked if my biopsy results from another provider were in my chart, he had zero questions about why I had a biopsy, because his only focus was my weight. read more

I have been with Dr. Tinio for 2+years. Every time I have to book a visit with him he always handles the issue with professionalism and kindness. His knowledge and insight is above par and he is an excellent listener. I would recommend him to anyone and have done so many times to my friends and family. I am a north County San Diego surfer, I have had injuries aches and pains from the sport along with just getting older Dr. Tinio is always there to resolve whatever issue arises. I recently moved to Oceanside and I was looking for a new primary care doctor in the area. I was searching on my health insurance website and I found Dr. Stephen Tinio. I was able to make an appointment easily over the phone, I then had to reschedule it because of my confusing travel schedule, and they were super cool about it. Upon my arrival, I had a pretty hefty stack of papers to fill out for my initial visit. They took me in for my appointment right on time although I hadn't finished the paperwork. I didn't have anything pressing to discuss with the doctor I just wanted to meet him and introduce myself. I was having issues with my fibula as I am a runner as well as a stiff neck from unusual sleeping patterns. I let the doctor know and I also told him that I am anti-medicine. I only take all natural, herbal remedies - anything from God's green Earth. He had me wait about 10 minutes before the radiologist took me in to take x-rays on my leg. They followed up with me later that day to let me know that they didn't see any fractures or abnormalities. That was good news and I'm glad they gave it to me before the weekend hit. He also sent me home with a prescription for extra strength ibuprofen, which I never filled because I don't take medicine and a brochure of stretches that would help my neck condition. Overall, I was in and out in about an hour and a half between filling out paperwork, seeing the doctor, and getting my x-rays taken. Not too bad. Parking is available right outside and the entire staff at the front desk was warm and welcoming. It was a pleasant experience and I am happy to have a good doctor. read more

Dr. Tinio is the worst Family practitioner I ever been too. His suggestions are to just medicate everything and does not take the time to really listen to his patients. I have brought my son to his practice with serious issues that you would think he would take the time to really find out what's going on instead every time we have gone to see him he always seems rushed an unbothered by what's going on. I feel so bad for choosing such a unprofessional Doctor for my son I have change clinics and doing more research on his next Doctor. I hope he understands that building a practice is creating relationships with your clients none of which he has done. I will never go to him again for any of our family needs. And front desk staff are the same as well there basically there for a paycheck. Makes me sad that people like them work for health industry. I would give 0 stars if I could. I just went to Dr. Tinio today and the visit was horrible. His bedside manner is horrendous. He didn't even introduce himself when he walked in the room. He just darted into the room and asked " so uh what's going on today"? He was constantly glancing around the room as I was trying to talk to him. He wasn't asking any following up questions to his one question of " so what's going on today"? He barely examined me and just sent me off for some diagnostic tests. I tried to consult with him about follow up and what my " next steps" are and his answer was " oh yeah I don't know". I was mortified. I have been in pain for a few weeks now and you can't direct me on what's next ?! Then after my diagnostics he didn't even go over my results with me, I was told he'll "call me later". Who ended up calling me later a nurse, who was just as urgent to get off the phone with me as much as he wanted to get out of the exam room with me. She said he found nothing I my results and that was it. I tried to ask her if I need a follow up appointment and again, what's next?! She just said she didn't know and to come back if it's not better, BUT IM NOT OK NOW. You haven't given me a solution now? How is it going to get better ?! Dr Tino saw me for a ruptured Achilles' tendon and referred me to an knee elbow and shoulder specialist. Thus causing delay in treatment and ultimately diagnosis. He seemed rushed and didn't provide me with any prognosis or advice moving forward. I would not recommend this doctor. read more

Dr. Tinio has become my mothers new primary care physician. He seems to care about his patients needs and that of the patients family. He has done everything to help my mother be able to transition home from a custodial care stay. He is working hard to stabilize her blood pressure and also does not push unnecessary medications. He believes in healthy nutrition and proper fiber supplementation. I believe he truly cares about his patients. Mom has only been to see him twice so far, but he has been very accomodating to try and assist us with proper care for mom. I dont believe there is nothing he would not do to help his patients have a quality life with quality care. From my observations he is a very inteligent man and he listens to your concern. I see him as physician that goes above and beyond to help his patients meet their goals and healthcare needs. read more
