I needed to find out which Sunrise Medical Laboratories location performs a specialized laboratory test. This is not something listed clearly online, and I wanted to avoid driving from one walk-in location to another. There appears to be no effective customer service. Every phone number I found, including those listed for customer service, routed me to the billing department. The billing representatives were polite and genuinely tried to help, but they could only provide the phone numbers for individual facilities. Unfortunately, no one answered at the facilities I called. I wasn't asking for medical advice or test results, just a simple yes-or-no question: "Does your location perform this test?" Patients should not have to spend hours calling unanswered numbers or driving from place to place just to find where a test is available. The billing staff deserves credit for trying to assist. My disappointment is with the lack of accessible customer service and the inability to reach the individual laboratory locations. I hope Sunrise Medical Laboratories improves communication so patients can obtain basic information without unnecessary frustration. The Tech, Emily, advised I had a $25 balance. I let her know I spoke with the billing department when I received the bill and they were processing the secondary insurance. She refused to see me until the $25 was paid, claiming her computer wouldn't let her past the bill. She refused service multiple times over $25!!! She gave me the billing department's phone number, and they wanted to keep me on hold for 15 minutes. As I needed the bloodwork, I paid the $25. When I went home, I spoke with the billing department who was shocked and disappointed I was refused service. Next, I always bring a sample from home because I will not use a public bathroom for that purpose, it's disgusting. She refused the sample, claiming it wasn't in a sanitized container. I've never had a problem at any lab before. Now I have to collect another sample and make another appointment to return the sample. This entire experience was ridiculous and inconvenient and there are other labs I will use in the future.

The place was easy to find (look for the "Eight" on the building) and there's plenty of free parking out front. I arrived around 1:55pm on a weekday (closes at 2:30pm though which I thought was very early) and there was only one person in front of me. Check in was quick and easy on their self service tablets (2 up front) or I think you can maybe check in with the person at the counter (there wasn't anyone there when I was doing my self check in though until later). You just need to have your drivers license and health insurance ID card(s) on hand because the self service machine will scan them for the information. I didn't wait more than 5-10 minutes before being called (since there was only one person in front of me) and the phlebotomist that drew my blood was very nice and quick. Granted I am an easy stick haha. The lab was very clean and I had a great experience here: the entire process from check in, payment, and blood draw itself was quick and easy! No complaints and would return if I needed any sort of bloodwork done in the future. Just be aware of their closing times.

Within moments, she was able to draw the blood and they left as very happy customers after having been unsuccessful when they went to their doctor's office. When it was my turn, it was business as usual, virtually pain-free, and an easy blood draw.
