The earlier review consists of hearsay and exaggerations from a disgruntled former patient of another doctor: 1) One can't blame Dr Apun for Dr Reyes' sudden retirement. He had fully planned to stay on, but for various circumstances involving his own health, he appropriately requested to step down, and gave notice in a full-page newspaper ad. If the patient was taken aback by the admittedly unforeseen circumstance, she wasn't playing attention. 2) The records retrieval and chart copying charge for $10 for each child and $1 per page is wholly fabricated. If it were true, it would be highway robbery. But shouting that a banana was priced at $14.95 does not mean it actually happened. When a copy of a chart is requested, the .75 cents per page is a standard dictated by the New York State Dept of Health; that has always been the case with this and most physicians' offices. The contention that "the most" one can charge for copies of charts is .25 cents per page is the creation of an ulterior mind. Likewise, the retrieval charge for accessing the records from storage is also a standard $5/child--always has been, and always was at the time, and is based on actual expense. However, with some rare exceptions--mostly chronic or persistent congenital conditions, such as diabetes or development delays--complete charts are mostly useless for the offices that receive them. Pediatricians' offices require one thing for the vast majority of healthy children that transfer to their practice: an updated immunization record. And here's the real kicker: Copies of these are always available for NO CHARGE. Free I tell ya! So while the story relayed by the reviewer makes for great cigar-chomping, muckraking, scenery-chewing melodrama, for what she REQUIRED to transfer to the physician of her choice, she could've easily had for a song and a dance. Without all the ensuing drama. 3) Former employees, released for just cause, have one thing in common: an axe to grind. Add to that the embellishment of a former patient of a former physician of a former office, and you have makings of tabloid fodder with about as much validity as TMZ.com. A more accurate test would be asking current patients in the (usually full) waiting room for their opinion: Are they there for the no doubt impending censure of the office of "doctor misconduct new york" (whatever that is) or just to bask and soak in the "money-hungry" milieu? Bemoaning unforeseen circumstances that are no one's fault, creating phantom charges from thin air, citing the suspect testimony of biased vindictive parties: these are the shrapnel of a destructive mind bent on some kind of self-satisfying vengeance. Keep this in mind before swallowing wholesale anyone's OPINION (me included!). Here's a novel idea: If you're in need of a pediatrician, come in one day. Look around. Ask other parents their thoughts. Schedule a visit. See for yourself, not based on someone's delusional bad experience. Then if you're so inclined, write your own (good or bad) review, based on objective facts. THAT, folks, is accurate and constructive. read more

I personally love dr apun my nephew has been going there for 7 years and even though I'm not fond of the office staff with getting his paperwork and things for school, I go back for dr apun and now bring my newborn in. Apun is a sweet woman and listens to what I have to say and genuinely seems to care in regards to her patients. read more

Do not recommend this office/doctor to anyone. Dr. Apun seems to be too busy to be bothered so she rushes her appointments. When she's not there, another doctor-or assistant- her name is Noelle, treats the kids and she's grumpy from beginning to end. She wasn't open to hear about why I raise my child as a vegetarian and while she seems to disagree with my choice, she had no better suggestions and was annoyed at the fact that we are vegetarians. My biggest issue with this place however, is the receptionist staff. Most incompetent, rude, lazy group of little girls working there. They don't greet you correctly, they have no patience for anyone, they cut you off when talking and they don't do their job when asked to do so. Glad I'm changing my daughter back to her old pediatrician, as long as I can get these lazy girls to give me what I need. read more

I have been taking my son to Dr. Apun for 10 yrs now.. My son and I will not go anywhere else.. When we started going to Dr. Apun in her old office it was small but everyone was always nice and sweet plus the staff always remembered you and you were seen really fast.. It's still like that in her new office it's just a lot bigger.. Carmella is always a sweetheart and she has been with dr. Apun since before we started coming here... Dr. Apun has always took her time and would talk you through what was wrong.. I am so grateful to find a great doctor that even at the last minute she will have you come in so you don't have to worry and put your mind at ease.. The people that have an issue I think just like to complain... I don't think there is a problem on paying to get your records. If you go to any hospital they charge you for all your records and any other test or X-rays you need copies of.. Stop over exaggerating on the charges and stop bad mouthing great doctors.. Oh wait it's yelp I forgot all they do is put one stars up so everyone can see how bad the businesses are.. read more

Dr Apun is an awesome pediatric doctor who really gets down into the root of the patients issue. My family and I have been with her for more than 10 years. She always calls back and she's be intelligent. She takes Metro (the more expensive plans. She's very serious, but she is good to her patients. The wait is a tiny bit long, but it's not terrible. My children have been going to Dr.Apun's office since birth (almost 3 yrs now). Both Dr.Apun and PA, Noelle are exceptional care takers. I must highlight Noelle as she had provided my boys with outstanding care. Not only is she terrific with my sons' during their exams but she always answers all of my questions (even the crazy mommy questions). My first son was sick a lot during his first year and she was always took her time to check his vitals and ask all the necessary questions to properly diagnose him. Too often doctors are rush you out the door. Not Noelle. She takes her time and (always) gets it right. Her prognosis delivery is relayed in a caring and professional manner. This is so important as I'm the type of parent that would panic if something was slightly off. Additionally, Noelle has helped me find daycare for my children and has supported and provided guidance as I continue to breastfeed my 2nd son now 8 months old. Noelle has a passion for her job and it shines through with every visit. She is truly an asset to this office. read more

worse front desk staff, and intern students most of the time seen my baby because Dr Apun not visit alway, if visit then doing so rush, to finishe appointment. Don't listen properly what happens to baby, one day I went their for my baby heat rash, intern doctor gave a cream to my 4 months baby. When I changed to new pediatric , she verified the cream was too strong for my 4 months baby. Honestly don't play with your baby's health. I brought my sons to dr. Reyes since they were born, about 7 years. Then he said he would be retiring and that dr. Apun would be taking over. He assured us that he would be with her for a while during the transition. Then after thanksgiving we got a letter saying that he retired and would not be coming back at all. So my kids files got moved into storage, had I known I would hav3 gotten them while dr. Reyes was still in office. Now I have them at a new better dr. But I dont have their immunization records. I called dr. Apuns office and she told me it would be 10$ a child to get the files ftom storage and then 1$ each page. My new dr said it was absurd and to call the dept of health. I did and magically she reduced her prices to 5$ per child and .75$ per page. The most she could charge is .25$. I heard from the secretarys from dr. Reyes that she was a bad money hungry dr, a will not recommend her to anyone. If I could give no stars I would. And I will be reporting her to doctor misconduct new york. read more

I have been taking my 3 children to Dr. Apun's office for many years now. They have a great and friendly staff and always go out of their way if any of my kids are sick. I have recommended many of my friends to her practice and they are all very happy with the way Dr. Apun and her PA, Noelle, treat their children. The PA, Noelle, is wonderful! She is very smart and takes her time to make sure she does not miss a thing! She loves my kids and my kids love her! Even if I am unable to come to the office, the staff is always willing to answer any of my questions over the phone. My kids have been patients of Dr Reyes since they were born and since then we have seen Dr. Apun once only because we had relocated to California for 2 1/2 years. Now we are back and decided to make an appointment with Dr. Apun for a physical and the office receptionist who answered the phone was rude and spoke behind my back not knowing that her phone was not placed on hold. The remaining staff was laughing and supporting her ridiculous comments. Not sure if Dr. Apun is even aware of how unprofessional their staff is but that was enough for me to change pediatricians immediately. read more
