Optimus Moving Services - My move (July 7/2022) - Movers Near Me - Katy, Texas

I've used Optimus 3 times now. Most recent communication and logistical planning with Trey was on point and he was very helpful getting everything sorted out. I reached out with some feedback which was never replied back to, so I'm leaving this review now. The two teams that got called our were pretty fast and efficient when moving out of one house. There were some instances where they acted like they didn't want to move some heavy stuff like umbrella sandbags and also ended up spilling grease on the driveway when they were moving a BBQ grille into the truck. Moving into the new property the crews did not put down any runners to protect the wood floors and also did not put anything up to protect the doorways. On 2 separate doors they beat up the frame trying ti squeeze things in. One was the front door where they squeezed I'm a large desk and dented the door frame. Also one incident of one of the guys smashing a piece of furniture into the staircase that caused a small dent/paintchip. There was some language barriers as well as labeled boxes ended up in places they were not to go. Our washer and dryer never got hooked back up, and our primary bedroom bed didn't get fully assembled back. Just before the guy were leaving I found large/heavy dresser that went into an upstairs bedroom that was new in box hiding in the garage. When I found it an asked them to move it upstairs they weren't happy that I found it. One of the guys who's name I not need mention also made my wife very uncomfortable with his overt staring. Even my mother in law noticed and mentioned it. Unfortunately I can't see myself employing Optimus for any future moving. read more

I am so, so pleased with the service I received from Optimus. I moved out of Houston to a different city in Texas and Optimus made the move so much easier! On the day of the move they arrived on time and worked very efficiently. They had my furniture out of my 1 bd Apt loaded into the truck in an hour. They took about the same time to load it into my new Apt. I regret not using them for a prior move! What I liked the most was that they handled all items with appropriate care and didn't waste time wrapping up doors, walls, or items that were not breakable. Instead, they wrapped the most fragile items. (This may be a counterintuitive complement for a moving company, but it is really not worth while spending time wrapping IKEA furniture and charging clients for it.) So I had used their moving company this past Thursday for moving some furnitures out of my house cause it was still there for modeling the home. There wasn't any boxes or anything. Mostly furniture and a few small things here and there such as big framed pictures on the wall etc. I flew into town from Nevada to get this stuff out of the house since I was closing on the house the next day. I wanted to get a professional moving company to do this task because i didn't want any wall or floor damage to the house right before closing. I actually had a move out date 4 days prior but changed it to this date cause weather was supposed to be RAINY all day on sunday. I was quite worried they might not show up or end up being here too late to get the job all done. I kept in close contact with Trey who books all the appointment moves for the company. He assured me that they have their own repairman to fix anything if there was damage and that his workers were full time movers. They do moving everyday so they are good at their job on making sure things are moved safely.. which made me feel a lot better. On the morning of the move I contacted Trey to verify that they were coming and my appointment was set between 12 and 5pm. He told me that they had big moves and it was more likely around 3pm one of his 3 sets of men group would arrive. So this is at 930am when i called. I figured i had time to get things i needed to do in the house done as well as stop at the nail shop to get my nails done cause it was not suitable for this move since it was broken and sore. I got a call at 12 to 1230pm noon saying they were 30 minutes away from one of the movers... so here I am in the nail shop panicking cause I would not be home by then, i pleaded with them if they can arrive in an hour cause i won't be done and home in 30. They gave me a hard time about it and said they weren't going to accommodate. I told them I was going to give the office a call to see what they can do. When i spoke to Trey he said that the guys was supposed to give me a heads up during their 1st move to let me know when they expect to be finished ...i told him no, no one called me so when i got the call it was so unexpected. I was told that if the set of guys didn't come soon that the next set of guys were coming at 6pm! I was not gonna risk them coming late cause i still had to sign up for the storage unit on Hwy 6 and clay they close by that time i would think if it was any later move time. Anyways Trey was able to get them to wait for me to be done and have them come later when i was ready which would have been around 130 by the time they arrived. They arrive at 130 and wrapped everything and moved everything to the storage unit by 5pm. half an hour of that was the drive cause it isn't close to washington ave area. The guys could have been moving a bit faster as they moved quite slow but i guess since I'm the 2nd job that day for them and i have 3 floors they were winded. 3.5 hours of move plus travel fee and i end up paying around $531 total. they didn't damage any walls or floors from what i can see. they were strong guys! they got some heavy furniture from the 3rd floor townhouse down to first floor. What got me irritated was that they refused to load up my queen size mattress box cause they said it can compromise in their truck. which is weird cause they have the frames and mattress in there. Anyways i had it against my wall near my garage on the outside and i have to freak out that closing of the house is the next morning and buyers were doing a final walk thru that same day a few hours later at 7pm. i had to frantically post it on offer up and pray someone would come by to get it for free. I didn't want to upset the buyers with having a huge furniture piece outside of the house they are buying.. or that my neighbors would be mad to see i have a bulk item outside sitting around. The whole ordeal was not easy peasy as i would have thought. a couple issues at the beginning with timing and at the end with them refusing to pack mattress box so for that reason i can't give 5 stars to this place. 3 stars is for how the men performed during the move. they did an okay job, but i was super stressed out that whole day and morning of closing the next day. luckily i was able to have someone from offer up come to pick up the mattress box the following morning and remove it from the property. read more

Needed to move my mother from Conroe To College Station. Optimus was a turn-key service for us, making this enormous transition a bit easier for us. Everyone was happy to help. Quick to respond, professional, personable. The movers worked well together as a team. Despite the long hours and heavy labor, I never saw a frown. Everyone was tired but happy. We used their packing and unpacking services, too. Day 1: Packing team meticulously packed the home, carefully labeling boxes. Day 2: Movers loaded everything, drove 1.5 hours to College Station, then unloaded everything with care Day 3: Same packing team unpacked everything and organized the new home in the same way to old home was organized. As for cost? I've spent more money on moves across town. I expected a much larger bill, considering all the work they out into this project. read more

We used Optimus for our move into Sugar Land just before Thanksgiving. Pricing was reasonable, and making an appointment was very easy. Movers came a little later than their scheduled window. There was a team of three movers and a 26" foot truck. It took about 7-8 hours for the entire job to be completed, which included disassembling and assembling some furniture. There were a few hiccups during the move, including some pieces of damaged furniture. I reached out to Optimus, and got a prompt response from Juan. He sent a handyman to come by and get my furniture repaired, and I was very satisfied with the results. I commend Juan for providing such great service to make their customers happy. I would most likely use Optimus again for a move. read more

I hope I can remember to use them the next time if there is another move in my future!! They came to my location at the specified time and got right to work. There was 3 and not the 2 we had originally discussed, but it worked out fine!!! My move was approximately completed from a 2nd story apartment in a little over 2 hours and we were on our way. I was so very impressed with how efficient they were. They worked so very well together, like a fine oiled machine. My new location had an elevator, and sometimes that slows them down with waiting on it, but I believe it took them a little over 4 hours from old apartment to new. They were so very courteous and kind and put everything right where I asked them to. Boxes everywhere!! They made an overwhelming situation less stressful for me. I highly recommend their services. Not going to lie, I was planning on moving myself with the help of friends and family, from a house in Houston to Dallas. Call me stubborn and frugal but I was adamant it could be done. My wife however put her foot down and said we are absolutely going to hire movers, end of story. Fast forward. How they packed all our stuff into their 24-foot truck, I'll never know. Moving is NEVER fun! Especially if you've lived somewhere well over a decade! BUT, my stress was greatly reduced by hiring Optimus Moving Services! My prior experience with movers has been very bad with services quoted at a low price and day laborers hired by amateurs with a truck. Things broken and chaos! But, this company knows it's stuff! They offer packing as well as moving services. I budgeted a certain amount, had supplies on hand and outlined the areas that needed to be packed. I partly expected that since they changed by the hour that they might not be in any hurry but that was far from true! They arrived, asked a few pertinent questions and set to work. They quoted 3 ladies to pack but actually brought an extra staff member! Although I was crazy busy in another room and they were generally unattended, they were working lightening fast and efficiently and while they packed a full kitchen with several sets of delicate wine glasses, servingware, crockery and other dishes there was not one crash! I'm sorry that I was too occupied to get their names but they deserve major kudos! (They also threw in many supplies that were used from their inventory without adding them to my bill....they do offer to provide these items but as you can imagine, they cost quite a bit more than they are at the home improvement stores). They finished what they could and since they were done well before the time I had allocated in the budget I was actually able to have them pack more rooms and items! Now enter the movers! They are equally as efficient as well as friendly and funny! Down to business they got and they loaded things in such a way that they were able to fit in a single truckload. No loitering and no return trips. They disassembled beds, entertainment centers, dressers and mirrors. Reassembled them in my new house setting things up where directed and making sure to try and unload things into the rooms they were intended to go. (They found it a little hard to read the handwriting of the packers at times but that's because they were probably moving so fast when they wrote it! Lol). Anyway Jose, Alex and Edward were great! They secured everything very well, even my son's toys! (Photos attached!). You gotta love that! Nobody's perfect and there are a few things here and there that we are discovering as we settle into our new digs but all in all I imagine if they'd taken longer to take more care in labeling or organizing my items, I would have paid a great deal more money and I am happy that they erred on the side of my wallet! If I unpack a few spoons in with my clothes in a box, it's worth it! Thank you all for getting my things moved into my new house and under budget! I'm going to spend that extra $350 to put into the furnishings and decor! I have already referred 2 people to you and I hope this review guides more people your way! read more

Please use Optimus for your move!! I never leave Yelp reviews, but because I found Optimus on Yelp, I wanted to pay it forward. We really appreciated the professionalism of these movers. They were on time, quick, polite, cheerful and took great care of our items. They did not waste ANY time. Whenever we requested that certain things be done (such as making sure entrances were covered coming in and out of the house) they went above and beyond and covered our stair bannisters, our front doors, just to be extremely careful. We had a lot of items to move for a big family, and I was amazed how pleasant they all still were at the end. Even their payment process was very easy - all on their phone app payment with an option to tip - which we definitely did!! Service, cost, expertise The reviews either lied or I got a bad crew. I ended up working myself and way overpaid. Service Felt like they were doing me a favor and not responsive to what actually needed to be done. They reminded me on every item how hard the job was and how tired they were. At one point they told me, you move the rest of these. I hired them so I didn't have to move stuff. The owner offered another crew and this crew turned them away because it was too late at night. Adding more effort on my own. Cost They misquoted my move and I ended up paying double what I paid The Woodlands Movers. I reiterated over and over again by phone, I have 3,000 sq ft worth of stuff and they quoted a 3 bedroom apartment. So they only sent 3 guys and a mid-size truck. That mistake caused me to pay over $1,000 and still had to rent a truck to move the rest of my stuff. Expertise When they left we found scratches and holes in walls. They didn't reassemble furniture. They didn't even want to look at all the stuff they had to move before moving it. How do you measure your available space if you don't know what you're moving?!???!? read more

My husband and I moved from our three story townhouse to a first floor ranch style home and these movers were absolutely wonderful! I had Trae, Jorge, Alex, Alexis as our movers. They were so considerate of the floor plan and moved us out in 2.5 hours and moved us back in 2 hours. They set up everything just the way they needed to and it was perfect! I have used several different movers over the last 8 years, and none have packed a truck so poorly as my movers from Optimus. They were friendly and helpful, to be sure, but when I arrived at my destination (approx 1200 miles) it was obvious they didn't know how to pack a truck. 1. We had a box of play sand for my kids sand table. It is heavy, about 50 lbs. It is clearly marked "PLAY SAND - HEAVY". It turns out the movers thought this would be the perfect item to pack on the very top of other boxes in the middle of the truck. When we arrived at our destination, guess what we found? Yep - the box had a) smashed several boxes it was on because it was VERY heavy, and b) since it did not stay in place during the move, the box broke and sand got everywhere. AWESOME! 2. We had two large hanging garment boxes, clearly labeled as such. They decided to put these on the BOTTOM of a large stack of book boxes. What was in the book boxes? BOOKS. You would know this because, besides the boxes themselves being printed with "books" on the side, we also wrote "BOOKS" on each box just to make sure. Book boxes are heavy, and you know what is not meant to carry a heavy load? HANGING GARMENT BOXES. When we arrived at our destination, our garment boxes were completely crushed, had sand in them (see #1), and every item that was originally hanging in the box neatly was completely crushed. Several hundred dollars of dry cleaning bills have resulted. SUPER HAPPY! 3. We have one TV in our family. We purchased a TV box to transport it. The TV box clearly says "FLAT PANEL TV KIT" on it, and has a picture of a TV. It also says, "THIS SIDE UP" with a little arrow pointing up. These movers must have thought the arrow was supposed to point back home, because when we arrived we found the TV box on its side with the arrow pointing backwards. YAY! We'll never use Optimus Moving Services again because we have moved out of the state. But I would recommend to anyone still living in Texas to avoid them, or make sure you micromanage the packing process. Moving is stressful enough, and hiring workers who take care of your stuff is a small price to pay for peace of mind. Optimus Moving Services does not offer peace of mind. read more

WARNING: DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! First of all, they were an HOUR late and I was the first move of the day. Then when I asked the movers to put boxes in the extra space in the bathroom (I showed them exactly where), they instead chose to completely block my closet and the only toilet and bathtub in the apartment! They damaged several items during my move because they refused to wrap them and now they REFUSE to respond to my emails and phone calls! I've been trying to contact them for over 2 weeks and they will not pick up the phone, will not call me back, will not respond to my emails. I have used three different movers in the past 2 years and i have to say Carlos and his team are very professional and timely. When Carlos arrived he told me Optimus charged when they arrive which was a surprise because most moving companies charge when they leave. Carlos and his team first asked me what the plan is and then we laid out the groundwork. He updated me along the way and i could tell i was in safe hands. I was even able to drop off my pets at my new place to come back and see them still working hard. When it was time to head to the new place Carlos double checked location and even routed the time for his arrival. He even assured me he wont waste my time and will try to arrive within the time shown on the GPS. They were very courteous throughout the whole process asking me if things are going well and if there were specific things i needed moved or placed. We were able to finish an hour before i originally planned and they even hooked up all my appliance and made sure they were leveled. read more

With a tropical storm hitting the day prior to my move I was nervous that they would cancel on me; however this was not the case and they were able to keep my move date despite the weather being uncertain. Tony and his team were extremely fast, yet also careful with all of my belongings. I could not believe how they managed to packed everything up with care and get it loaded/unloaded so quickly. They were even able to help me rearrange some furniture items when I realized I would rather them positioned differently. The price was exactly as expected. The entire move was done in an hour flat! I can't believe how fast they operated! They did not drag their feet like other moving services that I have used before. The movers made a conscious effort to be as efficient as possible, like asking me to move my car so they could have a shorter and faster path to the truck. Unfortunately, an expensive monitor broke during transit and I did not find out until a couple days later when I plugged it in. I reached out to Optimus Moving Services and they offered to buy a new one and send it out to me! What other moving service would step up and do what's right? This was my first time using this company, but I've used a couple of previous moving companies in the past. I have a pretty good idea of a fast pace/efficiency when it comes to a moving company. It's the most expensive one I've gone with, but I decided to give them a chance based of some of the reviews on here. I was told when the 3 movers were about 20 minutes away, and I appreciated the courtesy call. When they arrived, none of them were wearing masks. They didn't put on masks during the move, and it definitely wasn't too hot to wear a mask. Some of them asked how much some of my possessions were, which made me pretty uncomfortable and it seemed unprofessional. When it came to moving the boxes/furniture from my old apartment, I felt like they weren't moving quickly. One of them was on the phone making personal calls while the other two were (I'm assuming) out by the truck. I do think that at least 2 of them were working as efficiently as they could, but I couldn't justify the price of the service I received. When we arrived at my new place, I felt like they were pretty efficient. The elevator that was specifically used for moving purposes was broken, and they were able to bring a lot of boxes up at the same time. Unfortunately, not everything was unwrapped and it seemed a little sloppy. This experience wasn't entirely positive, and my biggest thing was that I felt like they were dragging their feet at the old apartment. I've had hit or miss experiences with other moving companies, and I paid less per hour. Over the course of a few hours, that does add up. Just had big move to a new part of town Eris' team was great to work with from start to finish - and that was after the team at the office made booking - -even with multiple changes - super easy. We originally was going to have them move "just the big stuff" but ultimately decided to get them to move all we had packed. They moved heavy stuff up stairs and around tight corners. When they thought they had an issue they quickly informed us and also had us check placement of everything before they left. All in under the time I estimated! This is the third time in 5 years I've had Optimus help us with a local move. The first time they unloaded our truck. The next two times they loaded and unloaded for us. I should have written this review sooner back when I remembered their names but these movers have all been phenomenal! They hustle, they're polite, friendly, and so hard-working. They've always been respectful and careful with our things. Each move has included a piano and some other heavy items and they make it look easy. They reassemble everything at the end. This move they rebuilt impossible bunk beds, fit a treadmill down a twisty hallway my husband said wouldn't fit, and rearranged the furniture from room to room as I couldn't make up my mind. This review is a long time coming, so I apologize for being so slow. First of all, I did not pick the company just for the name, but it definitely tipped the scales in their favor. What sold me is they don't charge for the trip they make to the starting point. The other company was the same short distance but said they get paid even if they were sitting in traffic on the way to the first stop. I didn't think that was fair. I digress. Optimus was so awesome and they are truly knowledgeable professionals in the moving industry. They were able to get me quickly packed and unpacked, they took apart my crib and put it back together, and they handled all my furniture with tender care.
