I've had their wifi & cable for years since I moved to Lkwood with little or no problems. Then they introduced cellular and I changed and it has been nothing but trouble! The transmission is not clear, lots of interference or it does not ring and goes into voice mail! I've been on the phone with/them for hours at a time and I never get more than one bar! It's so unreliable I had to pay $109.00 to install a landline because I live alone and need a reliable way for communicating in case of an emergency! I recently switched to optimum from Verizon.I was trying to save some money and it sounded like a great deal.I got rid of cable and wanted Wi-Fi,landline and cell phone service.The lady from optimum told me to wait until the installation to cancel Verizon but to get a transfer pin for the cell phone.After the installation I found out that I didn't have the old landline number and it was too late to get my old phone number back.I decided it was ok but the problem was that the only person that had my new number was unable to call me they were given a message that the number was not in service.I spent hours and hours on the phone with optimum they tried everything came out to the house to try to fix the problem I even changed the number and in the end they told me it was Verizon's fault.Optimum said Verizon wasn't routing the calls properly.What????Well I called Verizon and they said that wasn't the case.The other problem was the Wi-Fi kept cutting out.In the end I decided to switch back because nothing seemed to work well .The cell phone seemed fine but I have a business phone and I need good cell phone service.I'm not willing to spend another second talking to Optimum customer service . read more

I would give a 0 star if Yelp would let me because Optimum customer service does not warrant a single star. Horrific customer service. I honestly believe the customer service reps are trained to give customers the run around, make frequent transfers, give inaccurate information, etc. so the customer will get frustrated and hang up. I am currently on a call with them -- it's been 1 hour and 32 minutes and I am no closer to getting the issue resolved than I was when I called them an hour and a half ago. It pains me to give Cablevision 4 stars, but in actuality, I'm not rating Cablevision as a company---- I'm rating this location for their service. I'm not a huge fan of Cablevision or any other cable provider for that matter based on their very high cost to consumers. But as far as this location is concerned, the staff are very friendly, fast and efficient. Based on a previous service call, I was told my modem was defective and needed to be replaced. The service technician didn't have a modem to replace it with so I needed to go to the service center. They quickly swapped my old modem for a newer model and sent me on my way within minutes. They have a good system for inventory. In summary--- I'm rating the people and service at their service center and not for the high prices and nickel & dime that Cablevision charges their customers. read more

Awful company. When I switched to Verizon I thought Cablevision was so nice to have a driver come and pick equipment up from my home. OMG.... This company sucks! Friday night 6:25pm someone ran over the green cable box at the street in front of my house, I called to get someone out to fix it and they would not come until Sunday between 8am to 10am... FYI its 8:37pm and I'm still waiting!!!!! this is a joke. Back to the call on Friday, I asked why we could not get someone to fix it Friday night, they told me that they stop scheduling techs at 7pm!... it was 6:25pm. the lady on the phone was rude, unfriendly, and not helpful at all. There was a "leak" in the area and Cablevision identified it to our house. The first gentleman came in unexpectedly on a Sunday to inform us of this leak and tried to determine the issue. He was extremely polite and helpful. Unfortunately, he couldn't find where it was coming from and advised us to call to set up a service date. Cablevision gives a TEN hour window, which is ridiculous. After taking off from work on TWO separate occasions to wait for them, they never showed up OR called!!!! In the meantime, we are still paying a lot for a service that's not working properly and screwing up our neighbors connections as well. After calling to make them aware of the issue, there was no accountability from Cablevision. They just offered a new date to schedule....with another TEN hour window for a day that didn't even exist...Sunday, March 2nd! After spending a long time on the phone trying to explain Sunday is not March 2, being put on hold while I was in the middle of speaking, and the customer service rep not "getting it".....we finally set up another service call in over a week, with a 3 hour window. Noticed that they are now charging an Network Enhancement fee for my internet. This fee is to upgrade their infrastructure. Definitely a scam and shady practice by Cablevision/Optimum online as this should be incorporated into the monthly service plan and not as an additional fee. read more

I switched to Optimum (Cablevision) after Vz Fios raised my bill... well long story short my bill at Optimum went up pass what I was paying at Vz for a similar service as it turns out the Optimum rep who sold me the service was less than truthful in matching what I had before. Well I tried to see if the service was good but it was not... frequent intermittent internet interruptions, inferior TV service with frequent video artifacts, channels not being available, etc... what a MISTAKE... I am back to Fios for 35$ less with higher bandwidth, more channels and a way overall better service... and when I tried to disconnect after I had switched their retention department would not let me, specifally Operator 46G (he would not give me his name), he insisted on trying to talk me out of it... If I could leave no stars for Cablevision, I would. I have never been plagued with so many internet, phone and television service problems in my life. It is unreliable and temperamental. Over the past 15 years I've had the opportunity to try out multiple cable/internet providers. I enjoyed Fios , and was pleasantly surprised by how great Comcast was overall. However, I can't even begin to explain my disappointment with Optimum/Altice. My internet goes down for hours at a time, with an error message about "int phone", even though I don't have a phone service with them. I go through the entire unplug/reset steps, and still face the issues. Then when you call customer support, you are of course met with bots. While you wait for the bots to perform certain actions you are forced to listen to the most annoying "popping" noise. What idiot thought that would be a great sound to play while customers are on hold? Speaking of terrible ideas, let's remove a TV guide button from the tv remotes. "But if you click three buttons in this order..." there's a reason why every other tv company has a TV guide button, because every person with tv on the planet wants that functionality. Anyway, so you go online and type in the error message and you see the Optimum Links that mention the error you faced which you would assume would then give you helpful information. Oh boy would you be wrong. Instead it brings you to a generic FAQ search bar. And when you try to plug your issue in there, it just tells you to call customer support. Let's move on to their on demand user experience. When you go to "movies on demand" and spend 30 minutes looking for a decent movie and you click on it, you find out that it's not actually on demand, but rather it's going to be on the tv in the future. Why would you have movies listed in on demand if you can't watch it on demand??? So now that you wasted your time doing that, you decide to catch up on one of your favorite bing shows but you don't exactly which episode you watched previously. However when you navigate to the episodes, none of the episodes are in chronological order and don't show which episodes you have already watched. Now this final part I won't complain about so much, because I haven't wasted enough of my time to call customer support to fix this issue. I have the usual basic packages. When you watch tv or use Netflix on our main box, everything "works fine" (or rather just enough where you don't throw your remote through the tv). However, on our second box in the bedroom, it tells us we don't have access to the same exact channels we can watch in the other room, and it also says we can't access Netflix. To sum it up, I would give Optimum 1 out of 10. I would recommend staring into the sun for two days straight, before recommending optimum to anyone read more
