    I went to this Optimum Store today just to return a cable box. The store was still observing all the Covid safety protocols. Besides masking, social distancing, limiting inside capacity, the store also had barriers roped off around the plexiglass service windows. I had stand three feet away from the service window to do my return. This was worst than the windows at the bank. The line was long and slow. There was about a dozen people before me when I got in the store. Before that, I had to wait outside for people to leave; note that the temperature on this day was around 30 degrees with wind chills of 18. The line was also moving very slowly with only 3-4 service reps working the windows. My transaction took only 3 minutes but I had to wait for more than 30 mins on line. Overall, this was an average experience here. I had some worst experiences here in the past... nothing you can do since this was the closest store in the neighborhood.

    Ehh I'm so torn about this review because I honestly believe Optimum can do better serving its customers. I needed to return equipment. This location is in the cut... dead end street... of a semi-residential block. And not to mention all of the fencing around the Optimum building. It looks like a prison. I went on a Tuesday around 11:30 AM and was out before 12 noon. This place is very cold, don't expect any friendly decor. And all of the employees are behind a thick glass wall. There are 2 different lines do read the signs and just be aware of which rep is calling next. The Representative helping me barely spoke to me or made eye contact. He was too busy engaging in a conversation with other co-workers. At least I was in and out in under 15 minutes....

    Don't use this terrible service. They increase rates without customer permission. The employees are motivated to charge you more. Terrible.

When they first opened, most of the employees were Black. However, they were helpful, knowledgeable, patient, and professional . Overall, the employees used to be present. I don't understand how you could be in a sales position in a completely empty store; and two people walk in interested in with questions , but she was not interested in anything but getting back to her phone call . I know I am not overreacting because the guy who walked in before me said he wanted to purchase a phone line and keep his number. She gave him a price. He told her the price that he received on the phone..Her reply was exactly this "ok so get it that way then" . She had an annoyed, dismissive tone.. Also she was on the phone before he came in. Now she gets back on with the same person and starts talking smack about the young man who spoke broken English. Tells her friend the story like this guy who was just trying to find out info is a fool. She said "why didn't he get it on the phone then, okurrrr.. and then she went on to make fun of his accent. Now it's my turn and proved the other woman wrong that I spoke to for five seconds and she told me to call optimum and she went on a break.

The low level customer service and the way the company bilks customers is astounding. They claim to be giving you a five (5) year price lock. In my case, two months later they change the name of your promotion to Promotion for Life. They say that this means that only the taxes can go up if they do, but not the price for the service in my case, $40.00 with $5.66 in taxes for a total of $45.66. Do not be fooled. All their promotions, regardless of names, can be renamed and repriced at any time. They actively promote Autobilling, which means they take the money directly out of your bank account each month. It is not worth getting a $5 reduction to have these crooks get access to your bank account. Once you provide them with your bank account number, they can help themselves to any amount. Prices with Astound change at the drop of a hat. They do this by claiming that your plan's name was changed. What this means is that they hiked the price. Am actively going to see if I can find a better deal elsewhere. These people are nasty and only interested in bilking customers. These are seasoned scam artists.
