Dr. Carey was so kind, calming, and wonderful throughout this whole process of getting this removed. His staff made everything seamless with scheduling, and answered any questions I had and were so kind when they could probably sense my panic at times about things. They ask for your date of birth in front of all patients in the waiting room which is a blatant violation of HIPPA . Seems very unorganized. They verified my medical insurance coverage ahead which was very helpful. Parking is easy as its parking lot is right in front of the office. Busy office but reasonable wait and everyone was so helpful in explaining possible wait time and what to expect next. Didn't feel like the typical medical visit in that you feel like everyone is a friend and treated you like one. Dr Carey was super knowledgeable and explain things in a way that made sense which helped me retained the info. He did all sorts of assessment to make sure my eyes were alright. It's not my first visit to see an ophthalmologist but definitely the most pleasant one. Would highly recommend this office!

He did such a great job that it is almost impossible to see where the work was done. There weren't any complications and they really helped to prepare me for both the surgery and the recovery. I learned later that he was the best "lid guy" around. My dermatologist coordinated the 2 appointments the (cancer removal and then closure/restructure the following day. I probably would have not made the hour-long drive into Seattle on my own, but I trusted the dermatologist's choice. I feel very fortunate to be so well taken care by Dr. Carey and his staff. He was totally worth the long drive and I will continue to see him for future need if they arise.

That said, I ended up paying nearly $4,000 for a bunch of stuff...lid cleansing, and 4 IPL treatments for Rosacea and ocular Rosacea. I had inquired from her staff about Excel V which I had read was the gold standard for ocular rosacea and they told me IPL was the way to go. Well, I only saw Dr. one time. The 4 IPL treatments were done by her staff. When I told them it didn't seem to be working about half way through I was told I needed patience so I went for the entire course per Docs recommendation. Not only did it not improve my skin at all, it actually made my eyes worse. Wish they would have laid out my options before rushing me into something that was really not intended for rosacea. Surely as knowledgable as this Dr is she would have known about the procedures such as Excel V and V Beam and could have explained them all so I could have made a choice. When I told the staff it didn't work they just said "ok". No follow up with me by the Dr or anyone else. This did leave me feeling like it was all about the Benjamins to them. Hope I'm wrong but here I sit....my eyes worse then ever, my skin still bad and my bank account much smaller. She came highly recommended and is probably great for dry eyes but I would not recommend her for ocular rosacea at all.

NO ROBOT SPITS IN MY FACE! But wait! If you go to the eye clinic at UWMC you wont have to get spit... er puffed in the eye to check for glaucoma! Seriously though, instead of getting an annoying blast of air in my peepers during my exam today, I just had to look at a pretty blue light that some how accomplishes the same job. Keep in mind that UWMC is a teaching hospital. This can be both a blessing and a curse. It is good, because the docs are more than willing to explain what is going on in detail. When I left, I felt better able to perform an ocular exam than someone who just stayed at a Holiday Inn. However, on the down side, if you have an unusual condition like I do, the docs will parade EVERY RESIDENT IN THE HOSPITAL past you to have a look. While I enjoy being the center of attention, it does add significantly to the appointment time.

So he dismissed us and left her sobbing through the waiting room and out to the car.
