The receptionist is one of the most kind people I've ever met. I was in a panic to get an eye exam so that I could get new contact before a trip, and she let me rush in and see the doctor after work with about 10 minutes to spare. I truly believe that she will receive a front seat in heaven. The doctor was also amazing. He explained everything with great detail and made me feel so comfortable. It also didn't hurt that he gave me a ton of sample lenses and let me know that I can always call him for more if I get in a bind. Three cheers for this crew! read more

Been here when Dr.Lo was at the costco location. He takes his time with his patients, no complaints, but Juanita on the other hand, is a different story. Call last week to ask about walk in, juanita told me come in at 2pm. Asked her the price for contact lens exam, she told me the price, I thought it was $89- confused it with glasses exam price at costco, she said " dont know which costco you go to for $89 contact lens exam???" How rude to talk to clients like that???!!! Anyhow, that should be a red flag, so 2pm wasnt a good time for me to go, I asked if she would check my benefits before I arrive. Thinking if Costco is too busy at 11am, then I'll do my shopping and go to Dr.Lo.lo as a good backup. When at costco"s optometry, she said , I had no benefits, I told her I clearly asked before I came, anyhow, didn't want to argue, paid cash and deal with it later. Went to next door to order contacts lens, They said we ran out of benefits too , WTF??? now something is fishy, costco optical called my insurance, found out Dammm Juanita locked my benefits up to her location when I didnt even go there, only asking her to check benefits. DAMM you Juanita, made me spent extra 1-2 hour total extra. Costco optical had call to release benefits back, ask optometry to refund partial, lots of waiting around, etc.JUST CAUSE DAMM JUANITA LIKE TO LOCK PEOPLE BENEFITS FOR WITHOUT APPROVAL,, STOP PLAYING THESE GAMES JUANITA. read more

I have been going to Dr. Lo at this office for over ten years.He's always been very nice and thorough, his staff is also very nice and helpful. I always run out of contacts before my order comes in and he has no problem providing me with a sample to tide me over which is a big help. The only reason he is losing a star is because sometimes he's too friendly and accommodating to his clients and he'll squeeze them in without an appointment which can sometimes mean a 20-30 min wait for a SCHEDULED appointment. Dr Lo is fabulous. He spends as much time with each patient as he needs and is a wonderful Dr. I have seen some of the other doctors that work in the office and they are all great. Walked in on a Friday and was seen rather quickly. I would recommend everyone go to Costco for their eye exams they are only $54 and one of the most thorough exams to boot! It is a small office and the walk-in wait can be long, it's better to make an appointment but it takes a few weeks to get one so be prepared. read more

I've come to Dr. Lo for quite some time now. It had been a couple years since I got my eyes checked and on a whim on a Friday afternoon I decided to call to see if they had any appointment openings. (On a FRIDAY)... of course they were booked but the receptionist in the front insisted that walk ins are welcomed but not always accommodated. I took a chance and walked in. After writing down some information i was seen within 20 minutes!! Dr.Lo works fast and is very personable! Dr.Lo is super friendly and helpful. I've came here a couple times and it has always been a good experience. This last time I saw his colleague and she was friendly and helpful as well. I tried the set of contacts that she gave me as a sample and it caused really bad headaches and nausea. So I called and left a voicemail to see if they could change my prescription. Dr.Lo called me back later that day, emailed me a new prescription, and asked if I wanted some samples as well. What great patient care! He seemed to genuinely care that I was having side effects. I scheduled an appt. three weeks in advance because it was the first available. The woman on the phone seemed like she couldn't access their calendar program. I made the appt. for the 22nd of February. I called a week prior to the appt. to confirm at which time I was told that the appt. appeared on the calendar for the 21st. Due to another appt. I told them that was unacceptable, as I had originally been scheduled for the 22nd. The woman told me she would make the correction. I received a call on the 20th saying they were looking to confirm my appt. for the 21st. I called back on the 22nd to confirm that I still had an appt. for later that day. The woman on the phone said, "No sir. Your appt. was yesterday. Didn't they call to confirm the appt.?" She then offered to try and fit me in later that day. I told her, "No thank you. I will find another optometrist." I'm sorry, but how hard is it to get scheduling correct? I have never seen the doctor. They may be great. I'll never know though because they've hired incompetent people to man the phones. read more

I am very sorry to anyone who missed out on seeing Dr. Lo this past weekend (June 11 & June 12 2016) I dont know if you have seen Dr. Lo before but I have been his patient since 2002. He is really good, very pleasant and extremely patient. He always wipes the phoropter with alcohol before he asks me to put my face on it to look through it for the eye exam. He doesn't rush as he goes through a series of eye tests. He asks to read the letters. He asks which color looks brighter red or green. He asks which series of dots looks more clear, right or left. He repeats it for you if you tell him you're unsure or even sound unsure. He accepts an "I don't know" answer and may respond with "looks about the same?". He would even gladly provide/offer contact lens samples when I was using contacts. And more importantly he doesn't make me feel uncomfortable. Ever. So yeah, Dr. Lo is pretty much the exact opposite of the doctor we saw this past weekend. I have never been seen by this substitute white male doctor before. I think his name is Dr. Kleinman. I am not sure because he didnt introduce himself to me. I dont know about you but I came in Saturday June 11, 2016. The office actually left me a message a day before my appt to notify me Dr. Lo was unavailable. So naturally, I thought the lady doctor, (sorry I forgot her name) who usually covers for Dr. Lo was going to be there. Oh boy...was I wrong! Dr. Kleinman (?) seemed like he either didn't want to be there or just maybe he felt uncomfortable because he wasn't in his office nor was he seeing his usual patients...? I don't know, I can't say. He wasn't rude to me like everyone else's complain in their Genbook review. He seemed nice but it just didn't come across as nice...don't know if that makes sense. I didn't like that he didn't think of cleaning the phoropter before trying to have me place my face on it. I had to tell him "no, its dirty." He looked at it and squirmed coz he saw face makeup transfer all over it. I didn't like that he didn't do the standard series of eye exam I was used to. All he did was show me one series of letters and asked if I can see it or not. He didn't even ask me to read it. I didn't like that he rested his hand on my face while he used the light to look at my eyes. That made me feel uncomfortable. I didn't like that it took him roughly ten minutes to see me. The exam was so quick it really didn't feel like he did anything. But I have to trust that he knew what he was doing coz I don't know...he's a doctor?! Anyway, I hope someday you get a chance to actually be seen by Dr. Lo and that you will also have a great experience with him. The 5 stars is for Dr. Lo being awesome and zero star for substitute doctor. So 5 plus 0 star equals 5 stars right?! read more

The receptionist (8/30/14) was very nice! He was courteous when i entered the office and was very helpful in squeezing me in as a walk in. Dr Lo is my favorite optometrist! He got me in on a must needed check-in as I ran out of contacts. He even recommended me 1-day contacts when I said something about loving that new contact lens feel. I am disappointed with Dr. Alvin Lo's optometry office in Costco! NOBODY ever answers the phone! I tried making an appointment online and they wanted me to put in my credit card information, which I did not want to do. If they are THAT busy, they need to hire someone to answer the phones! It's absolutely ridiculous! Sometimes I just have a question to ask, and I can never reach anybody! It doesn't matter what time of the day I call, they just let it go to voicemail! They have several doctors that work in this office, and my experience with the doctors and the exams has always been fine. The problem is getting an appointment scheduled or speaking with someone! So I didn't have an appointment but I desperately needed a contact exam before leaving for a two week vacation. Dr. Lo's staff was so helpful and accomodating. The receptionist/assistant was courteous and I didn't have to wait long to be squeezed in between appointments. Dr Lo was kind, professional and knowledgeable and I was in and out quickly! I made an appointment online on 7/13/13 for an eye exam for my son. Was able to get the appointment time that worked best with my schedule and recevied an email confirmation. Appointment was set for 7/26/13 at 6:30 pm. So all set, right? WRONG - I received a call today, not to confirm that we'd be there TOMORROW at 6:30 but to tell me they close at 6 and the 6:30 appointment wouldn't work. Are you serious?? No "I'm sorry for your trouble" or "I apologize for the error"... NOTHING other then "would you like to reschedule"??? Sorry Dr Lo. it was fun while it lasted but time to move on. read more

No customer service. I went to this location after waiting 2 weeks for an appointment. I was 10 minutes early for my appointment. I filled out all necessary paper work and then was told to have a seat and wait. Originally over the phone to set the appointment I was told to be a little early to fill out paperwork and to allow 25 minutes for the exam. Well I was early and after waiting 15 minutes PAST my scheduled time I was told that I would be waiting for an additional 30 minutes. I was not going to wait so I asked to reschedule. Then they gave me a reschedule date 3 weeks from my original date. receptionist did not once apologize for the delay and inability to give me a rescheduled date within reason. I am sure there are plenty other optometrists that would appreciate my business. I would not recommend this place. and if any family of friends do change family and friends. The worst experience I have had for a service that I am paying for. read more

Dr. Lo is a great doctor. Gives a thorough exam, listens to your concerns, overall a great doctor. However, the office staff is so incompetent and lazy. They don't answer the phones, so slow, and they really need to work on their people skills. Hopefully they can get some training and make this office a 5-star place. read more

Don't be deceived! There was no Dr. Lo! I was seen by someone who did not know what he was doing. A brief puff of air by the secretary for Glaucoma. The "dr" looked at my old prescription and said if it ain't broke don't fix it. I used my VSP insurance allowance and left with nothing...they didn't even have a sample contact lense to give me. Now I have to go find a real Doctor and pay full price for a real exam! Also, the machines were disgustingly dirty! I hope I don't get a disease! Conveniently located inside Costco that I frequented. The receptionist, Juanita is very nice. She even help me figure out the insurance number that I have which I got from my employer but don't bother to give more information on how to use it. Juanita is kind enough to call the company to find out what exactly is my id number with the insurance company. I've been taken care of by either Drs. Lo or Tea and both are very efficient, patient, and, professional, (mind you, I've been barked at by some optician tech at other eye center and needless to say that is the last time they got my business) . The whole process maybe lasted less than an hour, and if you have vision insurance, they might cover most of the exam cost from the original $54 for regular eye exam. (Contacts exam and fitting cost more). I highly recommended this place! And the Costco optical next to it has some good selections of glasses, even from Costco'sown collections. read more

I had one of the most horrendous experience in my life, I never felt so hopeless, the receptionist had the most awful and heartless attitude right off the bat, I don't know if she has something against people on a wheelchair or better sayd no respect for people like me, I never been treated like that before, absolutely no customer service, nobody has ever made feel this way, I arrived around 10:30am and I was told that the wait was 1 hr, so I agreed to that and even went inside costco shopping, Righ off the bat when I asked some questions a she had a bad attituded l almost felt like she was doing me a favor, this woman made me wait almost 3 hrs and when It was time for her lunch because it was almost 2:00pm!! yes 2:00pm she told me that I had to leave because I couldn't wait inside the office in my weelchair, and that they were completely book till 6:00pm, she saw me for 3 hrs waiting and if they were really completely booked why she didn't mention it to me at the first place, not only her rudeness and condescending way referring to me but she had absolutely no respect towards me, I left crying and wish nobody to go trough what went THIS WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
