Odd since the only info you need for an appointment is the patient's name and birth date. The remaining "personal" information would be the policy holder of the insurance which would be me. Pretty sure my 21 YO doesn't know who the insurer is, my birth date or the last four of my SSN which is what they need to submit the insurance claim. Not sure that the less than user friendly staff understands the concept of HIPAA in this context. I am the person providing all the of the "personal" information. Never been told I couldn't make an appointment for someone in my family because of HIPAA. Happy to take my business elsewhere.

The office was all decked out after having a bit of a makeover. There were snacks galore, some tasty beverages, and a lot of smiling faces warmly greeting me when I entered. They offered a free eye x-ray thingie and it was pretty cool seeing what my eyeball looks like from the inside. I had my exam and brought in an old pair of glasses that needed new lenses. They asked if I had any interest in buying new ones, but didn't really push when I declined. However, I had my heart set on owning my first pair of prescription sunglasses and I ended up with a pair of bitchin' Michael Kors. This was done with the assistance of several amazing ladies telling me which ones looked good, and which ones looked horrible. Sometimes you just need a honest women telling you that your head is too giant for a pair of eyewear. Oh, and I also got hooked up with the first pair of contacts that didn't make me want to claw my eyes out. SWEEEEEET! After my exam and purchases, I partook of a chair massage, some delicious cupcakes and strawberries and cheese aaaand you get the idea. I enjoyed myself, let's put it that way. After a bad situation at the Lenscrafters in Fox Valley Mall, I returned here to see what they…read morecould do, since Wheaton is my normal store. My eye frame arm had snapped in half during an adjustment by their store personnel, and the mgr at Fox Valley said I had to buy a new pair of glasses, but needed my eye exam done again, since it had been 2 years. She did not offer to replace the frame and all they did was place a plastic piece over the 2 piece arm, which wobbled on my head, and really made it difficult to wear the glasses. I had one backup pair but it was a previous prescription that is a little strong. I took some packing tape and wrapped the arm to make it stronger, but still difficult to wear. We were going out of the country in a week, so I was panicked. No need to worry! Wheaton got me in the next day for an exam with Dr. Losurdo (who is amazing), helped me choose new eyeglasses, and gave me a great discount, free warranty, plus filled my complicated progressive prescription within 4 days (had it rush filled by mgr). The store mgr at Wheaton said that they should have replaced the frame at Fox Valley, since they broke it, without any disclaimer that it was my problem, but whatever. I will never go back to Fox Valley. The vibe is totally different at the Wheaton location where they actually want to help you. I love the Wheaton location.

The whole place seemed extremely chaotic.The pre exam rooms had no ceiling and you could hear the exam next to you.. very old outdated building.After 25 min the first lady took me.. she did tests after she was done she said I have to see if they want me to do more of course they did.I was then brought to another lady she did more testing....they brought to a man he did more testing..I feel this was all to prolong the situation because the dr was backed up.They really need to stop over booking.The patients time is valuable too. It was now going on 2 hrs I had to ask when they were going to call me back.Finally 15 min later the brought me to a room where I waited another 15 min .I was finally seen by the dr. then a few more tests?All this was supposed to be is a cataract appointment.I spent less time with the Dr than anyone else. At checkout I literally had to ask the guy for a print out.It was almost like I was bothering him.I had to walk up to him he didn't even call me up. I brought my 17 month old son in, and after check in the medical assistant nonchalantly informed me the wait would be 60-90 minutes because the doctor "travels between offices." I did a full double take because surely I misheard. But no, I was just distracted by my toddler climbing the eye exam chair that looked like it was out of a 1940s black and white silent horror film. They told me I "should have been informed when I made the appointment," because apparently this is standard practice. In what world? It felt like the old Seinfeld bit: they know how to take the reservation... they just don't know how to hold the reservation. I told them I'd come back in an hour, because trying to entertain a toddler in a waiting room packed like a cattle car and on its fifth episode of Dragon Tales, was not on my to-do list. Their box of broken crayons can only entertain for so long and last I checked I wasn't a magician and can't pull 90 minutes of toddler entertainment out of thin air. To be fair, the medical assistant and doctor were polite, efficient, and clearly doing their best. The front desk staff, however, seemed to be locked in a competition for the Most Unapproachable Human. It was a photo finish. I left with my son's eyes checked and mine rolling as a 2-minute exam turned into a two hour ordeal.
