After a bad situation at the Lenscrafters in Fox Valley Mall, I returned here to see what they could do, since Wheaton is my normal store. My eye frame arm had snapped in half during an adjustment by their store personnel, and the mgr at Fox Valley said I had to buy a new pair of glasses, but needed my eye exam done again, since it had been 2 years. She did not offer to replace the frame and all they did was place a plastic piece over the 2 piece arm, which wobbled on my head, and really made it difficult to wear the glasses. I had one backup pair but it was a previous prescription that is a little strong. I took some packing tape and wrapped the arm to make it stronger, but still difficult to wear. We were going out of the country in a week, so I was panicked. No need to worry! Wheaton got me in the next day for an exam with Dr. Losurdo (who is amazing), helped me choose new eyeglasses, and gave me a great discount, free warranty, plus filled my complicated progressive prescription within 4 days (had it rush filled by mgr). The store mgr at Wheaton said that they should have replaced the frame at Fox Valley, since they broke it, without any disclaimer that it was my problem, but whatever. I will never go back to Fox Valley. The vibe is totally different at the Wheaton location where they actually want to help you. I love the Wheaton location. read more

When my glasses arrived at the Lenscrafters Wheaton location from the lab I went to pick them up. By his body language and attitude the associate made it clear that he was not interested in having me sit down and make sure that they were properly fitted and adjusted. The tech who does the initial exam appeared annoyed. Needs training in effective social skills. Front desk lady was not friendly, equally dry and did not appear happy. She perked up a bit when going over frames. It used to be a nice welcoming environment. Very unfortunate change. I'm a 19 year old male that entered lens crafters today to pick up glasses. I entered the establishment no one engaged with me to assist me. I asserted myself and took the initiative to approach someone and the atmosphere was very unwelcoming. I'm an African American male and this isn't my first time having this experience there but this time it left a very disturbing perspective of this location. My mom went with me in times in the past and this has always been our experience and it's getting worse. This location needs some sensitivity training with the climate of the world and how people of color are being treated changes need be made. They refused to give my 31 yo son with down syndrome and an eye exam because he did not know his ABC's. They cannot give a small child who does not know their ABC's and eye exam. And if you have memory issues and cannot remember your ABC's you can't get an eye exam from LandCrafters. My son has been getting eye exams since he was 3 at local eye care facilities and we've never been turn away. And for such a ridiculous reason! read more

Associate upsold me a warranty plan but now when I'm trying to use it they won't let me because my glasses were lost. Both associates and manager were very rude, stating "if we let people do that no one would buy new glasses they would pretend to lose them all the time". Well what about them pushing me into buying the warranty, neglecting to highlight warranty limitations, then not honoring it when I need to use it? I know they don't care about me in particular so this won't hurt their feelings but I'm not going back. read more

Where to even begin? We were having a seemingly promising experience at the Wheaton Lenscrafters when one female associate was assisting us. We were trying on new frames and making some decisions. It was a bit overwhelming with all the different choices plus the multiple promotions they had going on. With the help of a good associate, it could have been just fine. Unfortunately, a family came in and quickly occupied our sales associate, leaving us to someone else. This girl never mentioned her name, unfortunately. She made us feel extremely rushed and seriously offered little-no service or assistance, only telling us to let her know when we were ready. She made us feel pressured to make a decision quickly. In the meantime, a new customer came into the store to pick up her glasses and a third associate couldn't locate the glasses. At this point, we were sitting at a desk with associate 2 checking us out. I'll come back to this. But associate 3 even came up to our associate while we were sitting right there and began complaining about the customer and the experience. Seriously? Do you see that we're right here? Additionally, the associate at the desk behind me was checking out another couple and asked if the woman wanted polarized lenses, and when the woman inquired further to understand what they were the associate didn't know. The husband chimed in that he believed they put a rainbow-look to smart phones, and I turned around to explain my experience has proven that polarized lenses make it difficult to see touch-screen devices. The sales girl looked neither interested nor caring about this, just wanted to get moving with the sale. Back to our experience, then our associate grabbed the glasses we decided on, went into the back, and came right back out to our desk, handed them to us, and then asked for almost $200 of payment. No "How do these fit?," "Let me make sure these fit you well," etc. There was NO customer service provided, no assistance in making a decision of what is going to be on your face every day for at least the next year, if not longer, and no patience. Believe it or not, things got worse. Right after we paid, I noticed the glasses were DENTED on both sides. I was furious. We paid almost $200 for dented glasses? After visiting the St. Charles store, the sales associate there told me that these frames were dented because the associate at the Wheaton store used the wrong tool to adjust the glasses, leaving big dents in both sides. Seriously? Do they train these employees? I called Lenscrafters in St. Charles, which is actually closer to us and they took care of everything. Please see the review I left there, and do yourself a favor and go there instead. Don't waste your time in Wheaton. Additionally, eyecare is important. You aren't selling me a t-shirt or a cheap purse. You are selling me something that I DEPEND upon. That my day-to-day life and safety DEPEND upon. We were relying on this store to provide us with the assistance of our vision needs. This could affect everything in our lives. And I can't believe a store would be so completely careless about something this crucial to every day life. read more

I have been coming to this location for the last three years for my annual eye exam. I was surprised that they took no precautions for COVID-19. My temperature was not taken and no pre-screening questions were asked as was done at my other medical and dental appointments. There are no barriers in the front between staff and customers/patients. Next year I will find a new location for my exam. read more

I changed insurances and apparently this one sucks more-- which means my fancy-schmancy ophthalmologists are no longer covered. I wasn't willing to fork out the $150+ just for an exam since I already knew my vision was 20/15 post Lasik. I didn't need a prescription and I didn't want to pay a lot. Therefore, Lenscrafters did the job. I called and had some options. First, I made an appointment. Though they take walk-ins, I waited at least 20 minutes WITH an appointment, so I wouldn't count on that if I were you. Second, they offer 3 exams: Comprehensive including dilation and pictures of the back of the eye was around $100, Annual exam with dilation but no photos was around $69, and Annual exam without dilation was around $45. I can't remember exactly the prices, but that was around the ballpark. Being preggers, I can't be dilated anyway, so I opted for the cheapest. On top of that, they took off about $15 for having a AAA card. Sweet! Make sure they check if your insurance covers more or your AAA card does. Since I had no dilation, AAA covered less. If I had been dilated, my insurance would've covered more. Go figure. The doctor I visited was great and he seemed quite knowledgeable. Can't speak for glasses/contact wearers, but my experience was good enough that I plan to return for my next Annual. I'll even fork out the big bucks for the photos and dilation next time. read more

I would not recommend this store for your optical needs. The management and staff could care less about customer service. The Dr. Gave me some contact lens to try. I did but decided to go back to my old lenses. From there, I tried three times to order contacts and they never placed the order. The first time, I excused it...... COVID, right? The second time, I'm like, WHAT GIVES? The THIRD time and I'm done! They wasted months of my time! As a side note, I brought my script to Costco and had my lenses in 3 days. read more

Just had Lenscrafters (Wheaton) fix my glasses. Needed repair in 2 places. Came back a little while later - cleaned, fixed, and the frame re-set perfectly. Staff was attentive, gracious and helpful. I and my family have gone there for years. We will return again. Great place!!!!! read more

Okay, I went here after putting off my eye exam for about 5 years, and I was pleased. The doctor who examined my eyes, Dr. Uhlir, was sooooo nice. He answered all of my questions, even the goofy ones I asked that didn't really pertain to my exam. He even helped me get my contacts in and out of my eyes when I had trouble. Lots of trouble. He was about as patient and great as a doctor can get. The store manager, Shinto was really nice and helpful, as were all the other employees. Lenscrafters is a bit pricey, as far as glasses go, but it was totally worth it. I would recommend that location to anyone, and will definitely go back. read more

My husband went to this store to get his eye exam and to re-order his contact lenses for another year supply. Was a pretty quick turn around. He got a confirmation that everything will be delivered to his house within a week or so. So in a week, there is no update on the order over his email - no shipping confirmation or a tracking # was sent to him. Essentially they never placed the order for his contacts and he ran out of his last week's supply. He had to call 3 times to make sure they actually placed his order finally. And 2/3 times they had 'system problems' and didn't place his order. What a waste of your time and complete oversight. How can you not place an order for a customer that walked in and then spend 30 minutes convincing him that he should've received a a confirmation email and to check your email again. Go to Walmart in Glen Ellyn - cheaper and the people who work there actually care and you don't have to go through the pain of placing your order 3 times. read more

Had a great experience today at the Wheaton LensCrafters. Dr. Losurdo was excellent in helping explain to my daughter what her vision issues were and also showed her using his computer to illustrate his points. He clearly has a passion for what he does! Christine was great helping my daughter pick out glasses, and Aimee was awesome and very patient in helping my daughter make some last minute decisions and making sure we received our discounts accordingly. Had this been my first visit of the year it would have been a two or three, but thank-goodness I toughed it out. I've come here for the past two years for my vision needs (prescription glasses, prescription sunglasses, toric contacts, and two eye exams). Last year, service was pretty good and I was very pleased with both the selection and the service I received. This year, my first trip fell on a weekday evening. Service time and attention was poor. No one addressed my presence for 10+ minutes, after getting some attention I was asked to wait, and another customer who walked in was assisted first (since another attendant walked out from the back and saw them first). I was a few minutes from walking out, but once I got service, it was good. My second visit (for contacts) was great, the sales rep/assistant was attentive, squeezed me into the schedule on short notice and was very personable. The doctor was also good and explained the need for toric contacts very well. Overall, spotty service sometimes, but once you get it, it's great. I may avoid weekday evenings since I think they might be a bit short staffed. read more

Nice people. Typical LensCrafters, overly pricey like everyone in their industry, and you can't get a good answer around the advertised 1-hour turnaround, even when you tell them up front you need a strong script and high index lenses. I wish they didn't just give you the stock answer when you asked. Other than that, absolutely no complaints. Like I said, nice, friendly staff. Got in and out fast. Very happy that they got my replacement glasses in Friday afternoon, after a Sunday opening-time appointment, in time for my upcoming out-of-town work travel. Would have been in a seriously awkward spot without the new pair. Updated to 4 stars because my initial prescription was off, but the correction process was pretty painless, and that inspires confidence. Also, the quality of the $500 Lenscrafter product side-by-side a cheap $100ish pair I bought online in the meanwhile definitely stands out. Is it worth $500? Probably not, but I'm not afraid of the bridge snapping in a light breeze either. read more

I came in with my friend since she wanted to go buy contacts for her eyes after work. The interior design of this place is very bright and modern. I love how the desks and rooms are organized so the customer is able to easily find which station to go to for certain requests. The staff here is super friendly and are very knowledgable of their jobs. They told us the best packages and deals for 6 month and yearly supplies of prescription contacts. My friend was curious as to how much colored contacts were and was wondering which color would suit her best. The woman at the desk directed us to another woman who brought us into a separate room that had several different contacts in the room. The woman pulled out a case of colored contacts to try and was very assistive as to which contacts suited ourselves the best. She was also very friendly and enjoyed helping us choose which ones were the best ones for us. Overall, I would definitely come here if you would like to purchase any kind of contacts. Excellent customer service at this location! Light years above and beyond the location at Fox Valley Mall! I have a difficult face to fit frames, and I need both regular prescription glasses and prescription sunglasses. The employees and management have been very patient with me on multiple occasions, and very helpful! This location also deals with higher end frames. I've learned the hard way that if you want quality frames that are going to last, especially if you are hard on them, frames made in Italy are the way to go. That often means you're going to want designer, not just name brand. And you're going to be paying more for the quality. However, LensCrafters often has deals on lenses - and Wheaton has a lower retail tax rate. read more

OMG!!! Where do I begin? This place is unbelievable!! Horrible! I've had people hang up on me. I've had people keep me on hold for extended periods of time. I have lenses that I cannot see out of and they don't care so I called VISA. I have frames that hurt the back of my ears and they don't care. Dr. DeYoung is great. So nice and does excellent work. They take the time they need to do the job properly. They have excellent equipment including high end cornea x-rays. That xray found a problem that other doctors would not have seen (never have before). Highly recommend. Price range varies because you often include the varying price of glasses. I have mixed feeling about this place. The staff is friendly but overly pushy. I don't think we will be back in the future, it's ify I think I'll just stick with getting glasses at my eye doctors office they are about the same price.... I thought Lens Crafter's would be cheaper, def. not. We purchased two pairs of glasses right before the new year - had to deplete that FSA money... and I was due for a new prescription anyways. Please note we did not have our eye exam here. I have been going to a place since I was a kid that I feel very comfortable at. So we brought our prescriptions with us. My husbands glasses - well they were incorrectly made. We took them back and they were slightly off in his line of vision causing him headaches. Since we are driving in from the city - it's kind of a pain in the ass - but it needed to be done. The did help him - but it wasn't until we were able to get the help from the general manager that we really got anywhere. She actually checked the measurements. Everyone else gave us some line about getting used to the fit of the glasses, or getting used to the lenses. When they were fixed - they were not ready when promised - we wanted them done right so we just went back the next day and he know has had no further problems. One thing that really pissed my husband off was our original sales lady ordered the more expensive coating without even asking. She was also very pushy... I know it's pry. part of their sales technique to reinforce how "great you look" but truly... her opinion I don't take into consideration and it's like my husband had me, we didn't need to 2 cents over and over again... she even went as far as to call over other sales associates to tell us how great we looked. She also was overly dramatic about how good our insurance was, asking where he works and what he does..... just kinda seemed off to me. It's like we are going to purchase, calm down a bit. When we did purchase she really pushed some warranty plan - that we shot down each time - give it up we don't want it move on. My glasses I was unhappy with and returned for another pair. I'm still not thrilled with the glasses - I have this suspicion they are not totally correct.... but it's just to far to go back again, it sucks up too much time and plan to get new glasses again this year so not totally worried about it. read more

I was told my glasses would take a week. It has been over a week and I've now called three times inquiring about my glasses and when they'd be ready and they are saying they haven't been able to get ahold of the lab making them even. Needless to say, I will be going in on the 2 week mark and if they have no new information, I will be having them give me a refund and call my insurance company and explain to them to take the claim off my account so I can go elsewhere to get my glasses. read more

Poor service, and Sales focused staff. I went for my eye check up to get new glasses and contacts. I was clear that I need this prescription to get glasses and contacts, but rather than focusing on my prescription needs, they kept selling me their glasses and contacts. This was my first time to get checked for contacts, and I didn't know the process. I realised later that they didn't do my eye test for contacts. After the test, I went to the counter to get my receipt and prescription. They handed me an envelope with A4 size sheet which I thought was my prescription. I came home and realised that they only handed me the receipt and forgot to put my prescription. I called them to send that via email, which was a hassle for me as I had to call their customer service 4 times to speak to somebody who told me that their emails don't get delivered most of the times but they have sent it. I didn't get any email for another 3 hours, and had to call their poor customer service number again only to hear that I had to go to their outlet to get my prescription which they have ready for me to pick up. It was far from my house, but i still had to go to get it. So, i went to their outlet, only to know that they didn't have my prescription, although they had my request for it in their system. Now, their printer wasn't working, and they gave me a prescription from the same printer which was very difficult to read (no ink in the printer). And this page didn't have my contact prescription (because they didn't do it with my eye check up). Very bad experience overall with LensCrafters. read more

Went in to look at a pair of Oakleys. The girl, named Cash, gave me a quote. It was a little high and I went back the next day after looking at some cheaper options and they said my prescription was too high for 'wraparounds.' Train your employees better! read more

The only reason I am giving the store 2 stars is because I believe I got an excellent eye exam from Dr. DeYoung. They do have a large selection of frames but they may not be in your size. Don't even think about asking them to order them in your size since it is their policy not to. When I asked if I frame I liked could be ordered in a larger size, I was told no and that I should pick another frame. Really????? My glasses are costing $550+ and I cannot get the frames I want? I left without ordering and will not return to Lenscrafters again. BTW - the Clarifye testing they are advertising on TV is not new. The machine has been around for decades - their Marketing Department put a different spin on older technology. read more

Dr. DeYoung was fantastic! I've been wearing glasses for 18 years and I haven't had a doctor that made extra sure I was getting what I needed/wanted out of my glasses and contacts. He took his time asking me questions of my concerns and to answer any of my questions I had. Everyone I encountered was professional, made me feel comfortable and did not push me into getting anything that I didn't want. Since my eyes are super "difficult," I had to get special order contacts and lenses which I will get in about a week, so I can't say how they are. Definitely go to this place and ask for Dr. DeYoung, I'm sure you won't regret it! read more

I've been going to Dr. DeYoung at Lenscrafters for years and I've been so happy with both him and the staff there that I decided it wastime I wrote a review. He's fitted me for contacts and glasses. Whenever I've had trouble, everyone there has bent over backwards to help. Great customer service. (Recently, Jasmine, the assistant manager, spent at least an hour helping me with my newest glasses.) I can't recommend them highly enough. read more

I was really impressed by the overall level of professionalism -since both myself and my husband own small businesses we can be really critical of customer service but we found nothing to be lacking .
