Dr. Cressey spent more time with me than my previous Optometrist, and took time to find out about my family history and my concerns. She also informed me about Lasik surgery, which I'd been curious about. I said that when I called I was quoted $80, but they didn't care. They told me that contact lens exams start at $80 and said she should have told me that. Whose fault is that? But I'll take that up with the AG's office. I also had a regular eye exam, which was covered by my insurance. When I looked at the prices of the frames, most were between $550 and $750, and that was without the lenses with all the special coatings they were pushing. Then you have to wait after picking out frames because there's only one person that handles the ordering. When it was my turn, she made the comment that she really liked my frames. I said, "Good, put lenses in these frames" and I took the glasses off and handed them to her. (I prescription shades in the car.) The frames I was wearing were much nicer than any that they had. And my glasses only cost me $325 INCLUDING LENSES at Waverly Eye Care in Belmont. I would have gone to Belmont, where they only charge 50 bucks for a contact lens exam, but it was toward the end of the year and they didn't have any appointments before my benefits would expire. (My bad.) I should have known when MyEyeDr was the only outfit that had plenty of appointment times available. It's because they're so wildly overpriced, deceptive, and upsell driven. In addition to all that, the trial contact lenses that they gave me had expired over 7 months prior to my appointment in December, 2025. Is that even legal?

Be very wary when you sit down with Dr. Bui to review your insurance…read more Sad to admit, I experienced bad customer service this month as I did 3 years ago. I was examined for BOTH eye glasses and contacts fittings even though I told Dr. Bui that I was specifically here for a new eye glasses rx (I don't know the difference in procedures between the 2 types of exams). I paid $70 for the contacts exam because both exams are not covered by my insurance in the same year. Prior to my visit, I had another 6 months of an active contacts rx, I just didn't bring it with me at the time of the visit. I advise future customers to be very cautious and don't be tricked like me into paying him for something I didn't need in the first place. Dr. Bui is a bad businessman, he did not agree to take back my rx and return my money, or offer another solution. If the location is convenient for you, I think that Dr. Bui is very charismatic (however do not fall for that), he is a very good optometrist too: he is quick in his work. I did take my rx to Target because they have way more options for frames covered by my insurance.

I called 3 times over a one month period and had to leave a message each time as no one answers the phone, and then finally asked for an appt. through the patient portal. No one ever replied to any request. I finally left a voice message stating how horrible they were to not respond, and I got a call back (I was not home) asking me to call back to speak with someone specific -- but with no direction how to do that -- just gave the same general number that no one answers. I called two other reputable glaucoma specialists within the area and spoke with someone immediately to schedule an appointment. Do not go near this horrible practice. The doctor may be good (not sure either way), but even if she is the best clinician, she bears responsibility for the truly horrible patient treatment by her front office.

The optician has rushed us through every single time...and with my child being the one to get glasses, this makes even more of a difference. Not only are we always rushed, but on the very first visit I asked to make sure that the lenses would be scratch resistant. I always make sure that my glasses have the antiglare and scratch resistance, why would I not for my small child? Young kids aren't nearly as careful as adults are, and are more active. Yet, nope. They were never ordered that way, and hundreds of dollars on glasses and they are basically junk. All of this hassle of back and forth, and my daughter missing school to fix these mistakes, and still not what we asked for. Taking an extra minute or two even on the initial visit would have made all the difference. I have never done a YELP review (that I remember), but when you spend hundreds of dollars on a medical device, you deserve some quality and care.
